IN another thread the builder recommended shrinky (?), which is a plastic you bake in the oven and it shrinks. So he used a hole punch (which takes care of the tedium part) to make the rivet-to-be, then spaces them on a metal tray and bakes them. When done there are now tiny perfectly circular rivets. He didn't write where one gets shrinky, though. (Maybe Michael's or another craft supplies store?)
I think the word you are looking for is "Shrinky Dinks". Or at least thats what I remember them being called.

Yup, those'd be them. Sounds like a pretty slick idea for rivets too, and I bet they could be used for a lot more than just rivets as well. Easy custom iconography, anyone? Should be able to find them at pretty much any craft store.

Followed PraetorDave's link and I see they have a product that can be put into an ink jet printer. That would make the custom icon creation easier: print, cut and bake.
Thanks to PraetorDave for finding the Shrinky Dinks link.
I'd also credit the builder who came up with the idea, but I don't remember where I saw it ... it was probably a Steampunk minis website.

Allright guys, thanks for the great ideas, Shrinky Dinks... never would have thought of that.
Got some more painting done today, painted the 2 fuel tanks, and got a rusty base coat on the water towers.
I'll post some pics later, gotta get back to work.

It... It's spelled right. Oh you fixed it.
That would be some highly effective psychological warfare. 4+ or not, I'm not hiding behind it if it's not spelled right.
The terrain looks great though. You should take the above posters advice and do a mining facility. After seeing The magic you preformed on this pipe, I bet working a shaft would be no problem for you!

Shhhhh! You'll ruin my already sterling reputation as a "shaftsmith" of some importance in the Montrose area!
@Chibi - Yeah I get too impatient and tend to just do as the mood strikes. No doubt ,any of the things I am doing can be improved upon, but it is a jumping off point, and since this is my first try it is really a learning experience.
Thanks for all the feed back. I will be Finishing the last of bits, (Pump Station) tonight and preparing for the rest of the project.

Better still if you have a good printer and some decal paper would be to make your own transfers next time Connor.
Oh and also do the weathering after the signage so that it looks like it has been on for a while if you see what I mean.
Did you say this was your first terrain piece. If so is a very good start.

Looking really great for cheap terrain.
About painting rust. The way I do it, is I'll paint the area with a dark reddish brown first, I dunno what GW's name for it is but I use Vallejo Dark Flesh. Then I take a real old brush and instead of drybrushing, I do little splotches of blazing orange and indayen darksun so it's like random scratches of it. You could also use a sponge for that too and just dab it on. Then when it's all dried I wash it with badab black and it makes a nice looking & fast rust effect

I used a mix ov Vermin Brown, golden yellow and blood red in a 3/1/1 Mix
It may not show up too good on the pix but it does look alot like rust, I also used a "Hammered" pain and that givens it a pre-made "splotchy" kind of finish.
Doesn't look professional though, I am pretty please with it.

Very nice work. My FLGS has a pumping station. Their tanks are made up from 2" PVC cap glued on top of a 2' PVC connector. They look just like the tank farms around here.
I love the 'free sample' bases... definitely going to do that in the future.
One suggestion, you need some smaller pipes running around. There are always smaller pipes. Maybe cut up wire coathangers?

Go to your local hobby store (kind where you might find railroad stuff), and get some styrene rods. Two major makers that I've seen (in southern California) are Plastruct ( http://www.plastruct.com/) and Evergreen ( http://www.evergreenscalemodels.com/). Get some 2mm rods (or whatevre size), and just cut em down with your hobby knife. They have variety packs and stuff. I think Evergreen even have octagonal rod that'd make /fantastic/ bolt tops.
