There's always the chance the Laughing God will steal the Solitaire's soul from Slaanesh's grasp when that time comes... I agree it doesn't make much sense to me either.
As their name implies, the Solitaire should stand alone and not be able to join any unit, Harlies or not. As I recall, even the Harlequins give the Solitaire a wide berth as the Solitaire is the incarnation of Slaanesh within the Troupe.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money
"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

I've tried to answer this objection before, do you see fault with the explanation I gave?

It is an elite 0-1 choice. That means that it cannot join other units, does it not?

Correct. So long as it doesn't have Independent Character it can't join other units. At least, that's what I always assumed the rules said.

But, as it is worded now you could have an independent character join it. That's not right either
Maybe just make it an independent character again that as a rule can't join other units. Seems the cleanest thing to me.

IC + Solitaire: The Solitaire can never join a unit.
covers it.
Considering a witchblade always wounds on a 2+. And counts as Strength 9 when hitting vehicles, Then you add reduces saves by 1 thats pretty nasty o-o.

Just Dave wrote:I think the solitaire used to have rules where it could charge 12" and had extra attacks for each inch it didn't use and all enemies within a certain distance were at Ld7 or lower. I don't think it was broken, at the time most characters had crazy stats.
Btw, 20 boltgun shots would still cause 2.2 wounds according to my (basic) maths. For 170pts and an incredibly dangerous Eldar character, that's probably not good.
You're right about the extra attacks for unused charge movement, that was part of the Solitare rules that were put out in the Citadel Journal. However, I disagree with her having BS -, since mine that I made was toting around a bright lance. I remember that she was not able to join units, had some sort of funky psuedo teleportation movement and was even harder to target than ordinary Harlequins, so I used her as a highly mobile super-sniper.

A teleporting sniper would be cool and all, but it doesn't really seem to fit in with the fluff of the Solitaire, at least not from what I know of it anyway. a;ways seemed to me that it was a close combat type of character.

technically, it could be a sniper fairly easily.
I mean fluffwise the Solitaires, as harlequins asked anyone they thought suitable to join, so it's entirely feasible that among them could have been a former sniper...
Infact this is giving me more ideas for Harlequin based extended codex units.... on top of the solitaire, laughing god and now titan units I'm designing... arrrrrrr
*begins debating just doing a 'harlequin codex' that can be used as a supplement to either the Eldar or DE forces or independantly...*

... dude. I'd have said killstealer, but you haven't done it yet. Still, I've had the same idea for quite some time now (doing a 'Quin dex) - as you might have guessed already. EDIT: Not that I mean to say that you can't make a Harlequin supplement ofcourse (:

I imagine I'll do it.
At this rate my Extended DE Codex is just going to end up bloated with Harlequin units, plus I have some ideas to make 'quins a viable codex on their own / don't fit into the DE codex well

I'd suggest an even larger project than...
What about a Craftworld Creator similar to that of Marik Law's Chapter Creator?
Come up with ways for people to make a custom craftworlds which might mean a unique Harlequin codex. Just a thought.

See - I'm primarily a DE player, I've recently expanded into Skaven and in about a year or two will be moving to Eldar (maybe after Tau, maybe before Tau, we'll see either way I'll be starting my next army in around 6 months.) So I don't know enough about them right now, nor do I really have the drive currently to do that sort of undertaking, though I'll happily throw my thoughts in and help where I can.
For the time being I'll stick to this!:
On a side note - this is going to be... an inspiration for my Laughing God convert (kinda similar to what I had in mind anyway..) and will likely be used as the image in-dex for the LG

By the way, found a model that might work perfect as a solitaire with very minor conversion work and a good paint job...
