I think the prices for warmachine are pretty good. A lot better than GW. While depending what you wanna get its just the simple question if you want to spend the money for it. Since you like Khador and Menoth I suggest getting the 2 player set thats coming out soon. for 99.99 you get both the khador and menoth battle box but you get the a mini rule book and also both factions come with a full unit of guys. So the total for the 2 player box set if you got everything separate would be around 200 bucks so that's a huge saving since you like both factions.

I would say generally that on a per model basis warmachine and hordes models are more expensive except for some of their characters and solos but like others have said a full army or even a starter army will be significantly cheaper than a 1500 or 2000pt 40k army. The initial investment is a lot less plus you dont have nearly the number of models to assemble and paint which can be pretty daunting to a new player, especially one who is new to wargaming. The Warmachine starter boxes are an excellent value for a new player. right out of the box they provide a small but immediately playable army (no need to buy any rule books) for for a small investment which contains models that you wil likely use if you decide to expand further compare that to GW's battalion boxes which are abut twice the price, not playable out of the box and which often times contain models that new players may discover later that they may not want to use very often.

This doesn't factor in that their metal is really well done. I haven't seen any major miscasts or need any major cleaning.

This, sir, is a load of codswallop.

The metal beast models are almost universally bad when it comes to gaps and misfitting. It is a requirement to green stuff any beast model. The Warjacks aren't nearly as bad because of the ball and socket structure of most of them.

Additionally, for any lack of clean up required in the metal (you still want to wash them, as they usually have a lot of mold release--not a big deal though) you make up for it in the plastic sets. The plastics have a lot of mold lining in inconvenient places, making it a pain in the butt to clean up. The Cygnar Plastic Jack kit is pretty bad for this; I've finally worked out a way to successfully clean the mold lines that run over the rivets, but it took some trial and error for sure.

Overall, Warmahordes is certainly cheaper to get into, but it's a wholly different game than Warhammer. You're using a lot less models (which decreases price) and you really need to know all the rules in order to be successful, including your opponent's rules.

I personally don't get the "giving up one to play another" mentality, but Warmahordes is definitely a fun game!

I would second your last statement htere. I don't think you need to give up one to paly the other. I have never been really interestedin Warhammer, more liking "weird' fantasy ala WM/H, and some of my more favorite RPGs. I also am more interested in the game aspect than the modeling one, I feel.

But that said, chosing one for another is odd unless your budget is that tight. I know a few folks here who do both, as well as some who do other games like Infinity, Hellderado and Malifaux pretty okay without having to quit their other one.

And stuff.
