It's not like CMoN is a miniatures company themselves.
Actually they are a miniatures company. They liscense the production of several lines of miniatures. This makes them the actual MANUFACTURERS of those lines. They have a vested interest in the profits of those lines. They are anything but company nuetral.

Eh, they may hire a group of guys that are essentially allowed to do their own thing to run it for all we know (with tight CMON site integration obviously).
I think it's going to be quickly apparent if they're going to give impartial news and reviews. Look out for headlines like "Terrible Dwarf Released by Company we Hate!" or "Another CMON Game Changing Sculpt Rocks the Miniature World!".

I don't think they are going to be bashign anythign, I am just highly suspect of any compnay that has a vested interest in any product then havign ownership of a ( previously ) free and unbiased news site. Maybe thigns will be fine and remain as they are? We do not know yet.

There is no such thing as a free and unbiased news site regardless of who ownes or doesnt own it. Every one likes or dislikes things, I think it just so happens that you agreed with much of what the TTGN guy said... Change happens, wait until something changes to get bent out of shape and suspect of it.

Well IF you knew CMON store past, CMON score system, CMON direct interest in selling their ranges and their manufacturer direct interest in the matter then I will suspect and comment my suspicions about it, since its totally on topic... thank you sir! So instead of being bent out of shape with the comments of people who actually followed CMON almost from the beginning you can try to limit your advices to who/ what you know
In your world of biased news sites you probably understand that if someone has direct business interest on something is far more possibly biased than someone who is doing it for no interest... But hey brush everyone with the same color if it fits your arguments.

No, Zac was only sellign ad space on the site. CMON onws several lines of minis. I guess we will wait an see what they mean by " One of our first projects will be to make TGN a more proactive news source, not just reporting the news that comes to us, but going out and finding the news, and bringing it to you. "

I've followed CMON since the beginningm I know the people who run CMON and I know the guy slated to take over TTGN, who else is there to know in this...
If you ever get the chance to meet Ross(The guy taking over the generally running of the site) I recommend that you buy him a beer and have a chat with him, you'd find out that he has his fingers in everything. If I was going to pick anyone to replace the current owner thats who I'd pick.

I have complete confindance in Ross's ability to keep TTGN going strong, I know him personally, he is a man who is dedicated to all aspects of the hobby, he has more contacts within the hobby then anyone i've ever met. In my opinion TTGN is in good hands.
Not doubting his character or integrity, but just because you know someone personally and have worked in them in the past doesn't mean you know their motivations or what their intentions are. You and I have known each other for a few months now, and neither one of us knows what makes the other tick.... just sayin', beware personal bias.
The fact of the matter is that TTGN did not have anything to gain or lose by posting one companies new release or anothers. CMON can potentially do harm to themselves by posting a competitors new release (especially if that miniature happens to be one that fulfills the same archetype/design concept as one of their own), as such they are motivated not to feature such news items on their site, whether or not they act on that motivation is another story entirely. I personally don't think it will be an issue given their history of featuring other companies miniature lines on the site, but I'm definitely not going to be using TTGN as much anymore, I will be diversifying until such time that I can be reasonably sure that they are maintaining the same level of timeliness, thoroughness, and neutrality as they do now.

Here the official introduction by the successor:
Introductions are in order…
Hey Everyone,
I am excited to be heading up TGN and looking forward to the opportunity to help TGN grow. I have been using TGN as my primary news source, and am on the site a lot throughout the day, some how I don’t see that changing now. Lets talk a little bit about what is going on.
We are excited to be taking on the responsibilities of TGN. Zac has set a very high bar for quality, and we are glad to have his continued involvement and advice.
We will not be changing the way news is handeled or the front end of the website. We like the way that things are, and are looking forward to helping them grow.
The servers have already moved and hopefully all the technical drama is behind us.
We are going to be talking in more detail in the coming weeks about where we want to go with TGN. The community is front and center, so your feedback on these topics will be very important to us. One of our first projects will be to make TGN a more proactive news source, not just reporting the news that comes to us, but going out and finding the news, and bringing it to you.
Cool Mini Or Not is among the largest table-top communities in the world, working to bring people together to talk about and share what they love. Chern had this to say.
“TGN is a backbone of the community, and we’re aware of the responsibility involved in taking over the torch from Zac. It’s in safe hands with Ross, who is both well liked (I think) and well informed. If you have any queries that you need to direct to me though just drop me a message at CMON.”

Doesn't bother me at all. Mostly because of this:
Necros wrote:there's also The Miniatures Page if you want news, seems a lot more historical and indie stuff there though but still.
TMP is slower to get some of the news, but they get the same news, along with all the indie stuff that I really like. Also, the community is tighter (and smaller) than TTGN.
With TMP and Dakka on my linklist, TTGN and CMoN are unnecessary for me.

I don't have a copy of the deleted message but basically I agreed with veritas and bewulf and said I would not like to see a site that I visited every day to find out specifically about tabletop games news diluted into other games or hobbys news...
Maybe it was just a hiccup

That does not bode well......... I really do nto see the relevance of that news to Miniatures. The name of the site may be Table top gamign news, but it is KNOWN as a miniatures and boardgames specific site with the former beign the primary element of relevance. I hope that this is just a one time anomaly and that the site does not devlolve into a stream of general " geek " culture. I liek to keep my geekiness focused on Minis.

I have to agree... Also sad to see the new enforced levels of censure there... something tells me they don't enjoy dissident opinions yes its a VERY different TTGN lets hope they don't flood it with banners of semi naked chicks ( good old days at cmon browsing)...
