I agree. KC, that was so far below the belt that my junk actually hurts. I demand that you apologize to my man-marbles, good sir.

Fact: Metallica are Metal Gods, in the pantheon alongside Priest, Sabbath, Maiden, Motorhead, and many others.
Fact: My favorite Metallica song changes from time to time, but usually Damage Inc. has the top spot. Also, Motorbreath, Ronnie, and Fight Fire with Fire.
Opinion: Metallica's 'bad' albums are only bad when ranked up against other Metallica albums. If Godsmack had put out St. Anger most kids out there would be gakking their pants with joy.

I am both selfish and chaotic. I value self-gratification and control; I want to have things my way, preferably now. At best, I'm entertaining and surprising; at worst, I'm hedonistic and violent.

I can see that argument then. I saw Disturbed live when they were touring on their first cd, you know, back whenever EVERYONE liked something from them, and I almost feel the same way. They put on a hell of a live show, but all their songs are exactly the same, and tend to make you want to kill someone

Of course, the only thing wrong with Megadeth is that Dave Mustaine is allowed to sing. If they were to remove his vocal chords (Or, for huge epic lols, have him fired again) and put someone that doesn't sound like a dying cat in front of the mic, they'd be set. As it stands though, I just can't listen to them without muting Mustaine's nasally, whiney sounding voice. Blech.
I have to chime in, I love early Metallica, but haven;t really bothered with their recent stuff. As a Bassist, I really liked their stuff with Cliff Burton. After he died, it just didn't have the same appeal to me.

Thrash Metal has moved on from Metallica. Metallica killed themselves after The Black Album. As Self Destruct pointed out, Metallica now sounds like a radio rock band that tries to sound Metal but just can't figure out what they're missing (Hint, one of the major Thrash pillars is speed. "All Nightmare Long" is the closest thing to speed that Metallica can do, and it's still terrible).
Hell, even Anthrax came out of the blue with their release of the CRAZY good Worship Music. Listen here to one my favorite tracks from the album:
Anthrax has been around just as long as Metallica and Anthrax can STILL do Thrash. Why can't Metallica?
Same thing with Testament, albeit they're slightly younger than Metallica:
And again with Death Angel:
And with Exodus:
The Metal world no longer needs Metallica.

First you say Thrash Metal has moved on from Metallica and then you post a bunch of Thrash Metal bands that were in there prime at the same time as Metallica (80's to early 90's)?

Don't believe me?
Meanwhile, in a town called Megadeth,
Megadeth produced two good albums "Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?" and "Rust In Peace". They suffer the same problem as Metallica there new stuff sucks, in fact the whole Thrash Metal genre is like this because
in the 90's Death Metal and Groove Metal replaced Thrash Metal as the hardcore Heavy Metal to listen to. So if you're going to say Metallica new stuff sucks you might as well say that about the whole Thrash Metal genre
because Thrash is well past it's "Golden Age".

I love you guys! You say Thrash metal has had it's day and that no one plays it well anymore. Granted, although Slayer still kick ass....
And then you bitch at Metallica for moving on and trying to reinvent themselves? Cmon guys, everybody gets older, and thus slows down. You can't play Thrash into your late 40's.....tis a young mans game is that!
The latest Metallica albums I like alot. Load and Reload have moments of extreme awesomeness on them and Death Magnetic is just great. The one album, St Anger, that seems to be attracting the most hate also has some great songs on it. St Anger for instance is a cracking song, as are Dirty Window and Invisible Kid...
Although my favourite album is Master of Puppets, we have to remember that Metallica themselves were influenced by other bands. They did not just appear. So come on guys, and please stop trying to compare Metallia to Megadeth..... Dave Mustaine is a bitter and talentless hack!

I'm glad to see fellow metal heads it puts a tear in my eye
Tali'Zorah: I appreciate what you're doing here, Shepard.
Commander Shepard: Well, I care deeply about the quarian people.
Tali'Zorah: It's good to be back on the Normandy.
Commander Shepard: Let me know if it's too quiet for you to sleep, and I'll find you someplace louder.
Tali'Zorah: Hmm.
Garrus Vakarian: Uh, I was there when you two had your thing, remember? Just get a room and work it out.

Thrash metal was mentioned? And no one brought up this.
Dakka is a terrible -terrible- place. And I ponder why I still come here.
Right. Because Metallifan and Cheesecat are bros.
Reign in Blood, is the quintessential Thrash Metal would recommended it to anyone who claims there a fan of Thrash Metal. I would say the only Thrash Metal bands that compare to Slayer in hardcoreness (although
that doesn't necessarily make them better) are Sadus, Possessed, Morbid Saint and maybe Whiplash and a few of the Teutonic Thrash metal bands.
