October 15th 2011 is the 30th Anniversary of Metallica's formation.They have influenced a lot of great bands that stand today.As they work on what is believed to be their LAST Studio album, instead of hating on other fools, hear me out this time.

Metallica used to be great once upon a time, although I wouldn't call them "gods of metal" Black Sabbath started the genre along with Judas Priest. Now those guys are metal gods.

My favourite is wherever i may roam.

I don't like Metallica. The music isn't my cup of tea but that's not the point, I just don't like the band members. Complete arses to there fans.

True, but Iron Maiden won a grammy or whatever last year and they have been around forever too.

Yea, but they've largely been ovreshadowed by newer bands themselves. They're still huge, but like Metallica they've become somewhat obscured by newer names. Not to say that fans of the genre don't know them, but they're not the name they were 30 years ago.

Yea, I've become more of a Godsmack and Volbeat guy myself, but Metallica still has a huge place in my heart as the band that got me into metal to begin with at the tender age of 10.

Many nights of playing 40K in the basement with metallica pumping out of the speakers.

Ah see, I was the same way but with Maiden. Some kid that used to pick on me way back when wore a Iron Maiden hoodie. Upon googling them I was set.

-Then- I started to listen to Demon Burger.

Enter Sandman isn't bad as it's something with wide appeal but I'd have gone for Master of Puppets or One.

The real pity, the black album was the last really good one.

Not a big fan of Enter Sandman.


I will second Coolyo's nomination of "The Thing That Should Not Be", and also offer "Harvester of Sorrow" as an alternative.

I don't really like Enter Sandman that much, I don't really like the Black Album too much, a few of the songs are
good but not the same sort of re-listenableness (I know its not a real word) I get from the first 4 albums. I really don't like it how load onwards just gets so much hate. Sure it's not like the albums of yester-decade but still, the band just changed their sound a bit and some fans went away b@&$£ing about it, although the songs on those albums are bit more hit and miss though there is some really good tracks on Load and I really like ~70% of Death Magnetic

While Metallica was indeed a very influential band in their day, I agree that they have become overshadowed by newer acts, like Taylor Swift for example.

I like Metallica, to be honest, I'm wearing a Master of Puppets Shirt right now. Hopefully, this "last studio album" will be as good as the 80's albums, Death Magnetic was almost there. And to the OP, it looks like you just copied and pasted that dumb youtube comment.

I remeber hearing about that travesty when it occurred. don't know what was worse - Avril Lavigne butchering one of my favorite Metallica songs, or the fact that the four of them actually sat there and pretended that it didn't suck.

Uhg......I cant possibly be the only person alive that fething hates metallica can I? They are worth mentioning only if speaking of their first 2 albums....but 37 piles of crap later, people still give them the devil horns for some damned reason.
