But then there's this other picture, early on in the book, where the design is different. Rather than hanging there in his baby-harness, the legs of the Terminator are integrated with the legs of the suit (ie. his legs disappear into the armour of the suit).

Actually, waitaminnute - why am I describing this? Screenshot time!

That first one is the over-sized comical suit. The second one looks a lot smaller, and the Terminator is far more integrated with the suit. I would have much preferred the second one.

I have seen that to and I totally agree!
Been thinking if it would be possible to convert it to look more like the exo skeleton version...

Armor plating over the pilot's legs and a general bulking up of the whole thing(covering exposed mechanical parts) would make it look more like the exosuit in that picture.

So would cutting off the 'upper leg' of the Dreadknight.

The Exosuit in that picture is seemingly smaller as the Terminator is plugged straight into the lower legs.

It is smaller, which also makes it better.

I think it looks fine. Normally I dislike fighting robots where the pilot is comically exposed (Avatar, Matrix) but in this case I think it's fine, since the pilot is in fact wearing armor. Not only armor, but badass Space Marine armor. Would it have looked cooler as a Dreadnought? Maybe, but I think it gives a unique feel to the Grey Knights models. Let it ride, I say.
