I wish GW would do anything close to what PP does with paraphernalia (patches, shirts, now replica weapons) but I can't help but think this would have been better served once their got their supply issues more under control. I realize they're outsourcing this, but I fear Privateer may be getting their fingers in too many things while they're already having trouble with inventory.

I know it is often the cool thing to bash PP around here, but I like the fact that PP does stuff like this that is unexpected and not simply following in the tracks of GW.

There's also the aspect that within the Iron Kingdoms setting, some of those weapons make better sense. Stryker's sword is very big and heavy because he has to be able to use it on giant robots, Men-O-War and angry pigmen in addition to other humans. If he only faced the latter, he might well just carry a rapier and call it done.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

Couldn't they choose ANY material other than latex? It's times like these that I hate my allergies, (or maybe I should love them, they do save me money sometimes).

I bet it will sell a lot but for me personally it does nothing really. I do like weapons, real ones but toys like these just dont fit in my limited notion of cool

I agree, but no one would buy them because GW would charge you at least twice...whatever the norm is for stuff like this.

Not really, latex is and has been the only way to construct LARP weapon for the best part of 20 years now.

Nothing else is as flexable and workable.

Mr. Bourelle here is 6'5" , btw.

For those wondering, you can smack your friends with it without worry of damaging it or them, latex LARP weapons are quite tough.

They also require certain care. Don't leave them in direct sunlight, don't prop them up on the point. Hitting too many things will eventually knacker them.

Not entirely sure of their approach to this. Doesn't look like something I couldn't cobble together meself, at a fraction of the cost. But still kind of cool at the same time.

Except they announced *replica* weapons, not LARP weapons (seriously, only mentions of LARP are in the bits about the manufacturer). Had they announce a LARP line, I wouldn't have been excited at all. Most replicas are resin or similar material and meant to hang on walls. I'm just glad they mentioned latex within the first few lines afterward, otherwise people could have been in for a nasty set of surprises.

However they are being made by a LARP weapon manufacturer using methods they know.

The only difference is that the foam is denser.

Agreed.

Seeing Matt Wilson at GenCon with Stryker's sword definitely made me want one and the quality of it (from what I could see) was very nice.

If they make a Pillar of Halaak, I will not buy one.

I will buy two or more.

Latex weapons tend to pass safety inspections faster than homemade boffers in my experience. Something about professionally made weapons being safer than something John Doe whipped up with pipe, insulation foam, and duct tape in his basement.

You just can't waylay with them.

However, if you're one of only 2 people at the event carrying one in a sea of boffers, you tend to get singled out for having the fancy weapon.
