With good humor? Imo the fact that this thread is still standing might be a sign that dakka is 'growing up', and I mean that in a good way.

Okay, so I am commisioning my father (bizarre huh) to print me out the new and improved picture. When he gets here I will have the 1 inch by 1 inch plasticard squares set so all I have to do is glue the image on top and go from there. Assembled a model last night and ran a few test runs of the paint scheme. I like the way it looks. Very blood and bone kind of look. The name of the Kabal "The Silenced Cathedral" comes from my favorite level in the Legacy of Kain franchise, in Soul Reaver, where Raziel goes to fight Zephon. I have an image of him I may have pixelized <----(the z makes it extreme!) and placed under another squad. I do plan on having every single squad with different images under their base, so that way the whole army together looks like they are in the main hall of a huge DE cathedral. All I have at the moment are my 1 squad of warriors and a harlequin leader. I will eventually get around to assembling a much larger force, but the way I plan on doing this army is the opposite of my orks (check them out too), I plan on buying, building, painting, and basing one squad before I even pick up a second. That way I don't have an entire stock of models I've never touched sitting under the bed, like I do with my orks (seriously, check them out). So yeah, this is going to be a long term, and seriously fun and ed up army. I also plan on adding a lot, I mean a lot of partially/ fully nude slaves and twisted images to things like the sails of the raiders. Oh, and I have a friend who is giving me his entire DE army he collected so far for free come Christmas. He got them and hates the way they play, so he is giving me all the stuff he has, like 1000 points, for christmas. W00T! Well, time to get a cuttin and a primin.

Well, I think the print'n'paste idea is your best bet. You got PS? It had several pixelate/tesselate settings. Perfect for your goals. I'd also recommend looking through H R Gigers work until you find something sexual enough (protip: it won't be difficult) and use that.

A giger inspired DE army, that sounds absolutely awesome.

YAY! Talking instead of rioting actually works! Maybe Ghandi wasn't just a crazy old man. Huh! Well, thanks to a very agreeable moderator, I can now continue working on my Dark Eldar. Unfortunately, thanks to an unreliable father, I won't have the bases ready till tomorrow at the earliest. I am going to try and finish painting this first warrior, and get some pics posted before bed. About to go out and prime something.

Okay, so I got a little paint applied to a kabalite warrior. Not a whole lot done, but I was busy painting 2 models at once. Used one of the mosaic print out test sheets to give a scale of how well it looks. I think I can fit 10-12 on the mosaic. perfect for a raider squad.
Anyway, here is the prototype, still more work to do, but looking good so far, imho. As per my ork thread (seriously, why haven't you checked this out already? Don't make me come to your house and make you check it) questions, comments, concerns, and criticism welcome

Nudity aside, that mini looks very nice!

Liking the color scheme. Not your typical DE color. Cant wait to see ti with a base.

There is no nudity, only Zul. According to Major Tom11, the image converted to a mosaic style, is technically okay. Enough detail was obscured. Can't repost the original picture. I R sad panda. I have every intention of adding a good mix of both. Was thinking about images I could post, like a woman sitting on top of a man (nothing exposed mind you) driving a sword into his chest. Suggestive, but not exposing. Have a look of joy on his face. I have some ideas and plan on expanding more as time goes. Naturally being an adult male, I am going to lean more to women being subjected to men, but I don't have a problem with making it the other way around if I find a good image to put under the bases. If anyone comes across an image they think I might like, feel free to submit it to me in a PM.

I have done some more work to the first kabalite and plan on finishing him today, got the base cut and is drying as we speak. hopefully the paper won't warp when I add the gloss varnish to make it shine. Well, back to work.

Oh, my Talos is going to look like a combination of a wraithlord, and the origional torture chamber part of the original Talos. It is going to be a "chain ghoul" Not sure exactly what all I am going to do for the base, or even how I am going to put the model together, but once I figure something out, I will start working on it. I do know that I want a real cool image for the base, may draw something myself, and that I also want a slave chained from her neck with a length connected to it's codpiece.

Frawg you've inspired me to get off my arse and start my DE cabal that i've been meaning to do for a while. I've been thinking of going for a bdsm type of theme for the cabal. Cabal of the blue ball gag has a nice ring to it.
Kidding aside i really like your idea for the bases.

Got 2 models done, bases and all. Two have been primed and base coated. Once my daughter isn't feeling sick, I'll get some pictures posted.

So, as I promised I have some pictures to upload. Not much, but at least it's something. I do have to say though, the dakka photo auto correct thing kind of screwed the coloring up a little. Won't use that again.



The last image I have is a model I picked up for like 5$ at the local hobby shop. It is from the Savage Worlds or Dead Lands miniature line and I thought it would make a good Shadow seer for a unit of harlequins. Let me know what you think.

The miniatures and the bases match together pretty well, and the shadowseer seems to work too. When are you planning to paint it?

Yeah, the shadowseer is going to be done up with the harlequins. Going to do them in the usual fashion of lots of colors and what not. Maybe give them a little darker color tone. I had planned on doing the troupe masters mask with a Marylin Manson theme make up coming around the eyes, like from the early years.

So I found an image that I think will work very well for my witch squad and I wanted to see what people thought. Now I have to tell you that I created a link to the image so nothing will pop up on Dakka. This image contains a very graphic image of a woman doing some very naughty things to her very nude body, while drenched in very much blood. If images of nudity, blood, and "self exploration" bother you, than do not click the link. If you are at work, it may not be advisable to click the link. If your parents monitor what you do online, then don't click the link.
That being said, if you are a mature adult who can handle looking at troubling images, in a mature safe environment, then by all means click on the link. I see no reason why I haven't taken enough precautions here to prevent me from being banned from dakka. There shouldn't be any reason why some has to go and bump my ing thread just so it will get ing closed again. Yeah, now that I have vented.

2.) Have you though about drawing over the grid with a pen that will leave a raised surface? it would be a pain but I think the result would be compelling. Sakura Gelly Roll pens would do it, I think.

Hopefully you can see this now. Oh, and Ouze, the spray I have been usiing to protect the paper is Krylon brand Preserve It gloss varnish for photo paper. It makes them slightly glossy, and raises the black areas where the mosaic lines are, kind of giving the feel you were talking about. Let me know if this link doesn't work and I will try one last way to set it up.

I also figured I would try this as a way to view the picture. I know that this is posted directly to a dakka forum, but the image is still hidden, and should only be viewed by people who can handle the image they are about to see. Same as before, it depicts blood, nudity, and inappropriate material in general.

I appreciate the effort to put appropriate warnings, but these types of images are inappropriate on Dakka, period, warnings or not. Please ensure ALL images shown are clothed and appropriate for children. It's a fine line I know, especially with miniature boobies sometimes on show, but real photographs are most definitely not allowed.

I was thinking this image could be used under a squad of wytches or hekatrix blood brides. Any thoughts? I have a few more images, but I don't want to get ahead of myself.

Well... The picture is a bit dark, and I doubt that it will show on mosaic texture. You could use Photoshop to make the background lighter.

What I may actually do is cut out just the woman and put her on a piece of white paper and scan her back into my computer (because I don't know how to use photoshop). Then my buddy who knows how to use photoshop can mosaic it.

I realize the image is very disturbing, but I still think it fits the theme very well. I still need to find some images that involve males to use as well. Anyway, when I got the heavy weapons members done last night, I'll post a picture a little later.

I can use photoshop. PM me your email address and I can mosaic your images for you.
