My gaming room is generally cat-free when I play, except for Cookie - he's a good boy, and just lies down while we play. Also, all painting stuff put away, even if I'm only leaving it for a couple of hours.

If you can keep your head, while all about you are losing their's, then you have probably completely misunderstood the situation!

Ork codex isn't to bad.

A friend had an incident with his GF's beagle and a forgeworld warhound.

It involved the warhound being spread around the house in bits and beagle gaking bits of resin for a week.

Your guess is probably corrent

When i still had a cat she had a nasty habit of chewing my BFG fleet or any models that i had out.
one thing she absolutely hated however was the flea spray we got, its sort of a pump bottle, she'd hiss and run away.
so i used to place it on the table as a terrain piece. but she got wise to this and just started getting the stuff from the edges so i actually took to spraying my models with flea spray. oddly this didn't effect them in the slightest but when she next went to chew one she caught a whiff of it and hissed and ran away
re-application whenever she gets curious and i was pretty safe lol.

The cats are generally good, but have decided my models looked like a bed before. The one drinks out of the paint water when I'm not looking. The youngest one can be a bit of a problem when playing, she loves deffkoptas and will bat them around until she hears dice, then the dice end up going everywhere when she pounces on them.

Dwarf and the water drinker.

Yours only drinks paintwater when you aren't watching, I wish mine was that considerate! Mine just launches himself onto the desk no matter what I'm doing plops down and starts slurping. I never did get all of that skull white paint off my keyboard.

My cats will drink my rinsing water if I leave it out. One of them will try to chew on my brushes as well.

In your wardrobe, looking for Narnia.

One of my cats once licked up some bestial brown because I spilled it on her but that's the worst they ever ingested. usually they just stick to interrupting games and attacking dice.

Like all cats, the moment you show attention to somethign that isn't them, they suddenly want ALL of your attention.

Mine doesn;t pay much attention to me when I'm painting. The wife and kid are the problems there.

However, when it is time to game, she will NOT get off the table. It's so bad, I made and extra long table so she has room at the end.

I am not a cat lover. My wife is. We have three cats. One was adopted all official-like....the other two were rescued from the street.

I have become accustomed to cats and to tolerate, or dare I say, appreciate our three cats. But the hobby room is a sacred cat free zone.

It wasn't going to be at first. At fist my wife swore nothing would happen. I told her that her cat would chew on the barrels of my Basilisks. She assured me that no such incident would occur. Pointy, tooth-shaped battle damage later and the hobby room is a cat free zone.

I usually like to encourage this cat free zone by leaving the room an insufferable mess of small, pointy cast offs and metal shavings. That way maintaining the cat free zone is a safety issue as well as a moral issue.

Upon aforementioned battle damage did you await to have the renegotiation of the room being a cat free zone or not with a jar of curry sauce?

Years ago a flatmate and myself had a cat and I had arranged some models to paint. It was a pity however they were still young, and as such decided 1) to see if they could chase them and that 2) as the models were near the windows and they wanted to look outside the models were in the way. I decided then to keep them away from windows, nothing bad happened afterwards.
My girlfriend has 2 cats and they've not shown an interest in the models yet, though we suspect they enjoy red gore/tallarn flesh flavoured water...

Misery. Missouri. Who can tell the difference.

My black cat Puma always was trying to get where my minis were. At that time I was into playing WFB and had some old school Empire minis. Right in the front were approx 90 Empire Spearmen all in formation.

Well, Puma decided while my back was turned to jump up there. A second later there was a loud MEROWWWW!!!! and the sound of 90 mini flying everywhere. Turning around Puma was flying out of the room and my spearmen were all over the place. It was the only battle my Empire ever won.

A phalanx of my 28mm spartans had a similar engagement awhile back. Many of them still bear scars from the battle. I have made sure to keep trays of figs far from table edges ever since.

I swear she's part squig.

Just be nice about what you post about her. She's very sensitive.

Thank you for bringing a dog into this thread! I'm not really a cat person, although I'd like to be... we just don't connect. Great dog

Also, less likely to get on a shelf and knock off miniatures, despite the damage done to the codex...

Causalities were almost unacceptable, but in the end the Kranath 43rd took down the Great White Beast of Gra'nashash.

I was painting 30 fantasy grot troops and just finish, went to shower and come back. I counted 25?.....Looked around the porch area and saw little plastic bits of green everywere. My female pit bull "Honey" chewed em up and I yelled like crazy, she hid in the barn for 2 days. Now my mini's never leave my protective sight as this dog will and can eat anything.

I was painting a defiler some years ago and decided to put it outside to dry as it was a nice day. Unfortunately my dog Gemma who was a puppy then ran under my feet and the whole scene went slomo as the defiler went flying and hit the concrete.

Another occasion my cat sooty decided to have some fun with me by grabbing my dwaf lord and running off with it. That i admit was funny lol

My friend had it worse as his cays found his army case as good as a litter tray

My other dog a huge 150 lb rottie named Max, has a habit of sitting at the table during a game. Well just so happens that my friend Paul bought a pizza and was enjoying the first slice, as another player asks him a question the dog gets up and in one gulp eats Pauls slice of pizza in one bite right out of his hand. Like WTF? Paul got up to chase the dog, and as he did knocked over the whole WH40K table compleate with 4 armies and terrain. What a nightmare.

Loving the miniatures vs. "monster cat" pics

Another reason not to get one, despite the absurd cute factor...

I have to say that I actually resent our cats sometimes. I'm going say directly that this situation was created by my wife and thus is completely, entirely, unquestionably, and unequivocally HER FAULT. (love you, honey... )

If you've ever looked at some of my WIP photos, you can sometimes see cat hair on the drying model (that I don't notice until I see the upsized photo on Dakka). Just a random floater from the air that was magically attracted to my miniature. I have finally locked my game room, but the damage is done. I have carrying cases (a.k.a. comfy cat beds) full of hair. I have had to replace books and terrain because "somebody" was upset about something and decided to leave a present for me. I've had an entire display shelf crash to the floor with significant damage to dozens of models because of kitteh acrobatics. I've painstakingly used a lint roller, duct tape, and vacuum to get the cat hair off a battle mat, gone to put the vacuum away, and when I return there's a cat rolling on the mat I just cleaned.

When I stop and consider the $$$ that we're spending on kitteh maintenance (food, litter, vet, toys, catnip, etc) and think about what else I could be using that $$$ for, the urge to call in Ordo Xenos is pretty strong.

I love our cats when they are cool to be around, all cuddly and silly and doing lolcat stuff. When they break my miniatures, ruin my books, etc... not so much.

Not so much at all.
