Working today on the Xenos henchmen squad. The four Psykers / Warlocks have their weapons removed and new arms in place; the start of a fire bolt has been put into place on their hands. This will get bigger as each subsequent step of GS cures.



The shields for the Shield Generators / Crusaders have been assembled; these will of course not be glued into place until the models are virtually complete. They'll be getting a blue or green wash along with some color highlights around the edge, remaining translucent.

...and did the "flames" that the psykers / warlocks are manipulating. Not sure what color they'll eventually be painted (red/orange is unlikely as it would blend in with their red robes); blue is possible as it'll match the power weapons of the Marines well. This brings the members of the unit that I'm currently able to finish to a completed, pre-painted state. The Wraithguard won't happen until I can get a few Necrons.

The figures themselves are a little washed out from the flash, but they're visible in the previous pics; the flames are more visible here than they'd be without the flash, though.

Completed the Shield Generators (Crusader-stand-ins), mostly. Probably going to give it another highlighting pass, and might do a little bit more work on the shields, trying to get the edges to have a more fading-out glow.

Finished the Psykers (Warlocks) and Jokaero (Bonesingers) last night. I tried to get the color makeup of the squad similar to that of the Marines: primarily red, with blue significantly represented as well, and with a little bit of yellow trim. That will likely be the overall feel of the army as a whole, as it gets built further. The next step, if I can get a few Necrons, will be to make the servitors. Failing that, I'll probably start work on the "Marines" warrior acolyte squads.

Great paint job, not so sure on the force field thingys though; they look a bit weird.

I just went into the closet to pull out parts for the next units... and I'm out of Marine torsos! That means I have to chop up old models (not that much of a hardship, I've got a couple units' worth of primed-only-with-no-arms Marines in bags already) so it's going to be a little less convenient than ideal. Hopefully I'll still get some work on the next step done this weekend.

Over the weekend I decided to work on the army's Techmarine. Originally I was planning to use an Iron Father figure I picked up from a discount bin a few years ago, but decided that the mini would serve better as the Iron Hands "subject" in the Diagnostic Assault Squad. So, time to scratch-build!

I'm sort of happy with the leg plating; I'd rather I had sharper edges, but they'll be largely secondary once painted since the top of the model is more eye-drawing. I'm quite pleased with the backpack and how it came out, though I still need to figure out how to build and mount both the flamer and the "welder".

Completed the Techmarine build by scratching up the two other arms for the harness. They're a little large, but I think it fits in fairly well with the Techmarine aesthetic. Next step is either to paint him up, or start work on the Wraithguard "servitors" for the Xenos squad (got some Necrons finally).

I think its fantastic! The weird two plasma pistol thing throws me off a bit but I love the flamer arm.

Spent some time last night and tonight working on building the three "Servitor Henchmen" for the Xenos squad: three Wraithguard, converted from Necron Warriors and Eldar Guardians. I have two more heads curing in their molds right now, and I plan to bulk up the lower legs a little bit more once the knee armor cures as well.

These also served as sorts of test models for a full squad of WG that I plan to do for my Eldar army. Those will probably have slightly smaller gun barrels (I'm out of Starcannons) and more armor (since they're 3+ in C: Eldar vs. 4+ in C:GK).

Pics taken with the cel phone; the proper camera's battery was dead, so the light levels make them kind of crap.

Finished the Wraithguard/Servitors and took some better pictures. I will likely trim down the heads a little more.

Completed the paint on the Xenos Servitors / Wraithguard. I decided the original casts for the heads were crap, so I redid them. Definitely much better now. I'll get some shots of them with the whole unit later today or tomorrow.





And I primed the Techmarine, did a full-coverage paint of Silver and gave it a black wash. Since a big chunk of him is going to be metallic, this seemed the most efficient way to start, while also giving me a chance to take pics of him without it just appearing as a big mass of white plastic... though I'm not sure a big mass of silver plastic is any better.

Completed the Techmarine.

Not yet, no. I'm trying to decide what the next project I work on will be; painting that might be what I do, but I've yet to actually build the squad that's currently going to ride in it.

Decided to work on the Stormtroopers squad next, since I could pretty mindlessly work on them while watching the 49ers game. Had to convert two of them into Meltaguns since the original 3E iteration of this squad had plasmas instead. Not sure if I'll paint them next or work on some other conversions.

Just some minor progress: currently painting the Stormtroopers and the first, "normal" Diagnostic squad. Been busier with other stuff ( *cough* Skyrim *cough* ) but I wanted to see how the sizes across the army compared now that I've got examples of pretty much each unit type assembled and in progress now.

Techmarine, Fully-transitioned Space Marine, Human in Power Armor, Human in Carapace Armor, Eldar Warlock, Eldar Wraithguard.

Finished painting both the first Marines Squad and the Stormtroopers. Not much conversions on them, other than sculpted shoulder pads and changing two of the S'troops to meltaguns.

I've been working on an unrelated 54mm project for a friend, but yesterday I did take the time to finally put together one of the army's two Inquisitors. This is the Coteaz stand-in.

Bottom half is the leg piece from the scrapped member of the GK squad, the rest is misc. kit bashing, sculpting, or plasticard/rod. Still working on how to rep the cyber-eagle.

Been quite a while, but this took me some time to assemble due to there being quite a bit of green stuff work on it (along with, well, some Fus Ro Dah).

This brings the army to over 1500 points of assembled minis. After these guys (and the first Inquisitor) are painted, I'll still need to paint up the Chimera and a Razorback but I'm hoping to be able to afford an Airbrush before I start on the vehicles.

Finally, after that, I'll work on "Da Deffwatch", the Ork Mercenary Henchmen Squad! and the army will be complete up to 2K points.

First, the simple ones: Warrior Acolytes, Power Armor, Meltaguns.


Crusaders. They're wearing Power Armor because it fits the theme, and because their shields give them a 3+ invulnerable anyways.

Three Arcoflagellants: a Black Dragon with mutated spines, an Iron Hand that has compulsively modified himself, and a Space Wolf partially wulfing out.

Sort of. They're getting a Rhino, but it will be sufficiently orkified to fit the squad. Besides the obvious armor plating changes, it'll also have a bunch of grots on top responsible for the Rhino's auxiliary weapons (the storm bolter and the HK missile, for instance).

Thats some pretty damn good work you have done so far. Alot of its trully transformed once you've painted them up too. Taken things to a new level. Im gad i found your thread as iv been working on a side project myself. Some of the ideas and minis you have got have just dispelled alot of my worries. Its gona be loosely based around the Dark Angels before the Emporer came to Caliban. Basically fairly medieval with different units compersitions. Dudes with tunics, swords and sheilds, guys on horses not bikes etc.

Have started the Ork Mercenary Henchmen Squad, with the Arcoflagellants. These will probably be the most "orky" of the bunch, as I want to try and give the others a definite impression of trying to imitate Space Marines in some manner.
