While it would be amazing to have my Monstrous Creatures back on the table vs DE, even an upgrade to mitigate poison damage (which won't happen - it's too army specific in my opinion for GW to add it as an option) wouldn't stop the fusillade of Darklight weapons that ignore armor saves altogether, while wounding on 2+.
Dark Eldar didn't break the game for IG, SW, GK, Eldar, or Marines but it sure as hell has hampered Tyranids, Tau, and Necrons (which admittedly are third-tier anyway). My W/L vs DE since their release is about 1:10 though, so I'm admittedly biased here.

But you missed the best one!
-Loki- wrote:There is a unit that can be added that fills a gap no other unit in the codex does.
Ground transport. Basically, ablative protection for assault broods like every other army gets. If it's Phil Kelly doing it, who actually gets the fluff, I have a small glimmer of hope we see a 'bio-tank' return. Specifically, a Malefactor.
New, fills a role the codex lacks, potential for a dual kit to bring about another old bio-tank.
Malefactor / Exocrine / Dactylis kit would be pretty awesome. I could see it being the 'nid version of a land raider.

You know, if the Tyranid army list now DEPENDS on using a choice from the army list in order to be good I see why people are a bit annoyed over their codex. I mean, where is the variety? Or maybe it is a long term game plan, they'll repease the model, it will fly off the shelves filling in numbers to fill its slots in each persons army then a proper codex with balance comes along 6 months later. I see now why they require total secrecy of releases and what they're working on!
While I am for minimum choices in an army (eg: basic infantry in a fantasy army for example) this seems OTT. FAQ/Errata the army so players don't need to take certain choices or bust.

Thanks for the rumor OP!
As a new Tyranid player I must say that I have trouble seeing how a new unit added will solve our problems. Points values are skewed throughout the codex. I'll wait and see what Mr. Kelly's solution will be.

The frustrating part is that many of the classic units (Lictors, Carnifexes) were tweaked into pointlessness alongside the release of useless units like the pyrovore. Then the key units which make the codex competitive didn't even get models (Swarmlord, Tervigon, Spore pod, T-fex...).
I'd be thrilled with a FAQ that makes the base Carnifex cost 30-40% less, lets Lictors use an FA slot + start on the board, and moves Zoans into HS. And makes GK players automatically lose nids.

Except that it will likely be less an update codex as a codex addition, much like the Eldar Nightspinner which is a remarkably well balanced addition.

Essentially the WD rules will be a Tervigon and something else, and the kit will make both models, a bit like the new Ogre Kingdoms monsters.
At least this is what I have been told, don't know if it's true or not.
There may also be another much larger Tyranid kit coming out too.....
It's the same thing they did with the Eldar night spinne when they turned the Fire Prism into a 2 model kit.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

Hmm, Warseer posters coming to Dakka, and Dakka's overall quality decreasing slightly. I wonder what the connection is?
That said I agree 100% that the whole attacking people who provide rumors deal is 100% bs and needs to be put to an end.

Havent seen a nid player in a long long time, guess this says why. At least the DA dex has a workable list in it, and the eldar still work pretty well. Nid players, you have my sympathy alongside the necron players (until november )
But still HAVING to base an army around certain models or not even worth fielding an army...

It does suck. Isn't that kind of the way it's been for a while? 3rd ed was a bit more diversified iirc, but gaunts were best, then 4th obviously 6x carnifexes + genestealers.
But honestly now you don't have to base your army around certain models... there's still question of hive guard vs zoanthropes, t-fexes are questionable, some people use gargoyles and harpies, some people use ravenors and trygons, some people use tons of tervigons as troops and some use genestealers.
Honestly though overall nids could use a slight boost, I think they have plenty of diversity.

Oh, there's plenty of diversity. I wouldn't say any particular list must take given units, especially not to the effect of "Oh? You play one of ten Space Marine variants? Here are your Rhinos. Your troop choice will always be this." The problem is that it's hard not to have diversity when all of your choices range between bad and mediocre.

A lot of whats bad about the Tervigon kit from chapterhouse is the colours they choose for the picture.
When I pieced the kit together, I was VERY unhappy with it, I had to use some green stuff to fill the gaps and it felt like a very cheap mould.
After getting completed and glued together, and primed - I've gotten SO MANY compliments on how well it looks on the table, so I'd actually recommend the chapterhouse one if you have some green stuff laying around. Truthfully, i just had to use it on the back vents/exhausts to make it look complete since the mould didn't 100% line up with the GW bits.
