A quick update for a show in progress on the heavy weapon squad

Think skin needs one more layer plus sharper highlights, a sharper highlight on vest and backpack and the green on the gun could do with some more blending highlighting and metalwork.

Fab, your painting is way too high quality for that pic. I cant really see anything youve done on him since the previous update because the light is way too intense! Can you please take another pic so i can oogle your fine craftsmanship and artistry? Thanks bud

Well been awhile since last update, but I'm back and brought some pictures aswell.

First is the autocannon squad.
not yet really finshed with his base, since I believe it could use some more work and maybe plants it's a jungle after all.

And second I finally painted the banner on the dire advenger

The side with the symbol of ulthwe still feels abit empty, but not sure what to paint more on it.

whoa...that banner is just excellent! really like thatblending a lot!

also your sense for freehand is marvelous!

the eyes of the catachans are really sharp! wish i could do soch fine work...they even have a grim look...well they are meant to look that way but mostly they donĀ“t get that look by other painters ^^

also i like the base... what did you use to create that fluffy look of freshly dug ground?

Thanks for the compliments!

For basing I use Vallejo grey pumice. Really for easy basing and then I'm adding a bit of gravel and smal stones. Then different coats and mixes between scorged brown, bestial brown, graveyard earth and devlin mub wash.

Found a youtube clip someone using grey pumice:

Well for you steingass I've added another catachan flamer guy and am happy to tell you I have started painting a valkyrie yesterday.

Hmm I now notice the painting on the flamer can be done way better lol

Awesome!- I really like your camo pats.

It never fails, once that 2" high miniature is 400x800 you can finally see EVERYTHING!

Well some pictures of my current wip Valkyrie.
I've decided to go for a nice two-tone paint job where the top is jungle camo and bottom sky blue

I took some insperation from this site: http://www.fritzthefox.com/german_camo_guide.html

And think I will settle for the german late war fighter camo pattern with maybe some personel touches.

Very good work Fab, I'm going to be using the same idea when it comes to my Valkyries.

Well finished another flamer guardsman. I'm painting these right now more or less tabletop quality to get a bit back into the brushworks.

@viktor yes I tried to get the clear canister effect. Not sure if I pulled it off. Got another flamer wip so will try again.

So here the next finished guy not really spectacular. I like how his flamer nozzle looks and he got a scratch on his face where i tried to make it bleed abit with splatters on his jacket

And a picture of the wip guardsman lots of skin on this one so I think I'll give him a tattoo on his left arm/shoulder. Not sure what yet thinking about an Aquila/eagle or a snake/cobra and of course the clear canister effect.

in a comic way you pulled it off quite nicley i say!!!

the new guy tho...the bare chested one...what could be done about that shoulder line between neck and arm? its always giving me an akward feeling... that seam is alright for clothed guys... but bare skin... no seams allowed? should we GS that seam then?

Made in nl
Guard Heavy Weapon Crewman

Utrecht

Well catachans are mini bodybuilders and insanely buffed.

And as you see with the shoulder muscles there is also some sort of seam there.
So I'm not GS the seam, otherwise I would have to GS the whole neck and shoulder instead of just filling it.

Well didn't had much time to paint, but I gave him a lighter skintone since last update. And given him a imperial eagle tattoo. Not sure yet if I need to give the tattoo grey highlights or not.
Anyway her is the wip shot.

Well been a while, but wanted to show you guys what I'm painting right now and yes is another flamer guy.

Is not finished yet. Wanted to try out the unshaven look. Also note the pack marlboro sigarets in his jacket pocket.
Still need to do some highlights and layers. Also his backpack is not yet finished, want to try to achieve a see trough effect with a clear container.
Also his paints need some camoflage on his pants.

Almost finished still no idea what colour to paint the skulls on it.... suppossed to be red, but then it will be red on red. So am pondering about green, black or boltgun.

Really like how it turned out btw!

the highlights/reflections are awsome on the canisters...

a eerie green or maybe the black would be the choices for the skulls color...if you ask me...

Awesome canisters! I think skulls should be black or silver to tie in the tops of the cannisters =)
