Welcome!

I've seen some P&M blogs about catachans which inspired me to put up some of my own collection and a tank which I'm now currently working on.
I still need to get some more practice with photographs, but with all practice makes perfect.

Also I hope with starting my own blog here so I will push myself to be a better painter and modeler (Still pretty much inexperienced with green stuff).

Enjoy!

This one of the few minitures with a finished base. I tried really get that jungle feel in there.

This is my latest finished mini. Painting the banner was though since when it was black it was really hard to see whats what en how to paint it.
On his eyepatch is a little skull painted. I first only put it there to see if it can be done when I did it I kinda liked it too much to remove it again.

I used to paint my vehicles the way GW does for catachans, but I really didn't like the way they turned out. So I started researching internet for a different jungle themed camo for my hellhound and I came up with this one knarloc green, black stripes and khemri brown blobs.
When painting this I really took some insperation from the FW masterclass book, which is awesome. And it's my first time use of weathering powders.

And this is my current project another tank. It will be the same way as the Hellhound. Now busy with laying down the camo pattern before I smear the whole model with weathering powder.

This is it for now might put up some more pictures later.

Loving the camo scheme on the guys. I think perhaps the hellhound looks a little too weathered for my taste - I mean these are Imperial Guard not Chaos cultists i.e. the Commissar would be making sure they clean their tanks...

Thanks for all the replies!

I mainly play against orks so when I put it together I thought it would be awesome against them, but when I played with it I found out the normal battlecannon out-preformed it and was for less points. Meh

So was thinking to convert it to a battlecannon but haven't made up my mind yet. Maybe I'll keep it this way looks still good.

Someone said commissar?

Shame it abit to dark doesn't really do him justice

Edit: Also a picture of the back of the banner when painting it was there no where an picture on the net where could see the back of this one. So now there is.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Could put these here aswell.

He's the doctor and painted the glasses red and green because he reminded my brother of spider jerusalem.
Also on this picture you can see better the camo I now use on almost all my newer painted guards. Catachan green with camo green, black and graveyard earth.

Vox-caster I use dark angels green with snot green high light on the weapon to give it a distinct other look of green then the clothing since its made of metal and not made of cotten or whatnot.

The picture doesn't do it justice. Used a head from maxmini and used a bit of greenstuff to make a scarf he can use when there is a lot of smoke because of burned stuff.(mostly orks) one of the few modeling stuff from my part.

So just a quick update from the frontlines.

Smeared the tank with weathering powders. I allready saw in the picture the tracks need some more attention. Just like the metallics.
Then I'll start with painting the smaller details and some paint chips.
After that not sure, might do some freehand or company markings haven't got an idea yet.

Awesome fab! Man i cant wait to get my hands on these powders and start working on it! Is that just the base coat for the tank, then various powders rubbed on? did you use and airbrush for the base camo? And will painting over the powders be problematic? ... And does it rub off ??? lol
keep it up fab, they are...fab!

It's just weathering powder, yeah that stuff got amazing effects. Only used two types valejo's burned umber for the whole tank and burned sienna for the metal work(rust and such, but not very visible on the picture)

But using can be tricky since it can be like sandingpaper if you use not enough water or a to hard brush and lose the undercoat.
When using with water it will not stick that well and can be rubbed off, but some will stick. It can also be rubbed on with your fingers without water.
You can combine with paint the effect will be different, but it will stick.
Also can use a matt varnish spray in the end to let the powders stick(which i don't since some of watered powders will stick)

It's posible to paint over powders, but when using alot of water in your paint it will have effect on the powder.

Oh and yes sprayed it with black then I taped off the black stripes with masking tape sprayed the knarloc green with the citadel paintgun(not a real good airbrush tbh). The khemri brown is hand painted on.

Hope it helps.

Very nice work. Really like the bases. Maybe a camo net on the tanks to really tie them into the whole jungle thing?

A little tip for painting your banners, you said it was hard to see when it was black. Next time if you drybrush (and I mean really DRYbrush) it with codex grey then it will bring out all the edges which will make it easier to see the different sections!

Keep it coming!

Well I just have finished the punisher tank.

I'm very happy how the searchlight and the numbers have turned out.

Still working on making better pictures now had to use a lamp since the sun didnt shine that bright so the colours are a bit off, but couldn't wait to put a picture up for you guys.

Now going to finish some still unpainted simple guardsman I have.

Edit: Made another picture

Your WD comment just made my day!

For the weathering well i work alot back and forth before I got it right hehe
And when I got it weathered I see what I got en and what it needs.

The guardsman I'm now painting is not yet post worthy if I want to compare it with bebopdrums Harker

Well didn't had alot time painting last few days.
Started on a simple flamer guy, but then decided to do another heavy weapon platform since you all liked it so much.

Well made about almost all photographs in daylight only with a white paper as background.
Only the last few of the punisher I used lamps because it was to dark for a normal picture.

Will try to put up some WIP pictures on monday.

Might even post some of the eldar I painted, but think I'll stick that in a different thread since they are not from catachan.

Well this the WIP of the heavy weapon squad. It's an autocannon if you not already saw it.

Now painting the skin it's now currently on it's 3rd layer of what might going to be about 7 layers total.
Decided to paint his vest not green, but a graveyardearth-type colour to get some more charater between the guards.
Since saw in another thread someone said something about not everybody is always wearing the same unifrom.

Which leaves me with a decision how to paint his backpack. If it's brown it might be to much, so I thinking of painting it catachan green/rotten flesh mix. Not totally sure yet.

While I was at it I decided also to upload also some of my Eldar models for your viewing pleasure.
Edit: They seem abit dusty tho when you zoom in.

Still need to do a freehand on the banner and maybe on the robes, but haven't decided what
Edit: lol just noticed I forgot to put speculars on his gems.

Spend alot alot of time on blending those panels on the waveserpent.

Tried to get a bit of matrix effect with runes going down on his helmet.

Something went wrong with the sizes of the pictures they are ment to bigger had troubles uploading them earlier.

I'd say paint the back pack in the same scheme as the fatigues. Most troops' equipment is same colors as their uniforms.
