You pretty much summed up the entire action game genre.

Half-Life 2 does an excellent job in keeping the action still fun and interesting they add physics puzzle, platforming, interactions with the environment, exploration and car driving to break up the pace. Or god of

War there's plenty of puzzles, execution mini-games, secrets and platforming so it's not all just mindless button mashing. Constant action will lose it novelty after while if that's the only choice the player's are

given. Adding other elements to the game allows better pacing to the combat and allows the player some time to slow down after the intense battles or challenge him in different skills other than run and

gunning or hack and slashing.

Gotta say Brutal Legend is nearly perfect to me. If it were 4 times as long in gameplay and more sub plots/other lines of stuff to do it would be pretty perfect.

Gears 3 I was disapointed with the multiplayer since I rarely see anyone use cover and everyone is using gnasher+rolling everywhere.

All they really need to do with Brutal Legend to make it better is:

Release guitar tabs for Solos, so I can play them myself.

Announce Brutal Legend 2.

While I loved the world and game, I think the game-play and graphics could have been better. It would also be cool if you could download your own songs to the "Mouth of Metal" as well.

Wow. Way to fail at using a meme. There's nothing odd about thinking one of the most acclaimed games this year is good.
Its the same exact game as gears 1 and 2. It shouldnt be one of the most acclaimed games of the year.

Yeah, good one. I would actually respond if you had any sort of reasoning or credibility behind that statement.
Just my opinion. I just dont think it brings anything new to the table. Beast mode is really the only fun i got out of it; the rest of the game is the same old run and gun from the first and second.

Except it's not; there are enough differences in the gameplay that it's not funny; Machine Gun vehicle sections, underwater sextions, Run-wait-and-run sections, and it has the FETHING BATTLE BUTTERFLY!

Horroresque setting (Castlevania series, Evil Dead, Splatterhouse)

Three playable classes:
Holyman: Uses Holy Water, Divine Judgement, Crosses, Bibles, and other holy artifacts to hunt down and destroy the forces of darkness! (Belmonts,Father Anderson)
Hunter: Uses conventional weapons, along with Stakes, Holy Water, and the like. Is capable of using some cursed artifacts, though the most powerful will destroy their soul. (Ashley Williams, Van Helsing,)
Souless: Capable of using all manner of Cursed artifacts and dark powers, including shapeshifting, Possessed masks, and possibly things like Invisibility, Hell Magic, and other such nonsense. (Rick Tayler, Paxton Fettel)

Four player Co-op, Maps are Borderlands esque.

So basically, it's a four player romp through the darkest of landscapes, hunting standard things like Vampires, Werewolves, and Zombies, along with fighting things like Legion, Cthulu, and other such Horror Classics.

Sounds awesome and all but three classes and fourman coop? surely it should be four classes.

As for me, my ideal game would be an MMO with the following (which, incidentally will never exist due to the sheer complexity involved)

Resource gathering & crafting a la Minecraft
Sims-style building engine
The shoehorn the lot into the fallout/oblivion setting, combines with that kind of Player Character development system.

Oh and one of those VR helmets of futurama that transports you 'into' the game...

I don't have that high an expectation for my perfect game...

A completely open world Fallout game with a map that covers all of America and Canada. Destructible environments, more realism, and each state/territory should be unique from all the others.

Massive BFBC2 Style 40k game with *all the playable races*, Crysis 2-level max graphics, Source 2011 physics, dedicated server multiplayer, with an RPGFPS based campaign.
All the FPS freaks will buy it for multiplayer, the PC players will be happy for their l33t graphics, and RPG nuts will play it to death with different characters.

An open world RPG very similar to Mount and Blade's concept but with Oblivion style RPG elements, deeper RTS, nation-building, and city-sim elements as well - Starting out as a nobody or a noble, joining service of an existing nation or starting your own, levelling your character (who would descend from the character of the previous era) through skirmishes and battles, interacting with people, and as you gain money and leadership power, advancing your tech level to a new era - say you start out in a medieval setting, you could then research firearms, medicine, and higher arts and unlock a renaissance era, rinse and repeat all the way up to a near future era. You would be able to plan and design your cities once you became the lord/mayor/governor/whatever of a city or the ruler of a nation.

You could design your own military uniforms using preset combinations of templates and patterns for each era, design your own fleet of military vehicles, aircraft, and ships, choose your national flag, etc... Also: No damn elves or Orcs. Strictly humans, like Mount and Blade.

Think of it like this. Every Halo game (except wars) plays just like the original halo. Sure the storyline changes, they add a gun here, remove a gun there, add an enemy here, make you stop fighting an enemy there, couple game modes, forge, etc. etc., but the game still plays the same.

However a lot of people enjoyed Gears, so I imagine there was no push to change the game.

I've yet to play it, but I'm sure gears 3 is exactly like the first two, for better or worse.

It's not 'exactly' like the first two. Yeah, it's similar, it's part of a series, but there are a lot of small tweaks that really add up, and I'm not talking about new features.
