The Heavy Bolter and Las-Cannon fire tore through the ground around the Rhino, the Word Bearers had taken up positions from where the Imperial guns could not strike them and the Great Apostle was most pleased. He brought up his Twin-Linked Bolter and roared in triumph;
"Yes Imperial dogs, cower as the forces of Chaos crush you under our mighty heel. Keep firing and reduce these mongrels to bloody pulp!"

==Official Record of Sanctioned Inquisitorial Boarding Party B-213== ==Reference: Requisition of the Imperial Freighter ''Jewelled Claw''== --Extraction of valuable personnel and goods: 41.381.8.9-- -0420- Scanners detected the presence of an unidentified space craft, a fact we were informed of at 0342. Inquisitor Greystone ordered me to assemble my Stormtrooper Squad in preparation for a boarding operation. Lethal force was permissible, should the craft prove to be a threat. -0538- Unidentified Space Craft comes into visual range. At 0539 the ship is identified as the ''Jewelled Claw''. 0541 All attempts to hail the ship are met with static. We are ordered to mobilise for a boarding action. Orders are to quell any resistance met aboard the ship. -0557- Our Arvus Lighter is loaded and prepared for take off. 0558, Inquisitor Greystone reveals his intention to personally oversee the operation. 0607, Arvus Lighter departs behind schedule. 0624, our transport arrives bellow the ''Jewelled Claw'' and is clamped onto to it's hull. 0627, our team arrived in the main storage hull, we search the entire ship for signs of life. A team of 4 Engineers are subdued without need of force. A-213 reach the bridge, gunshots are heard. One of the Engineers reveals an important piece of intelligence to me, the ''Jewelled Claw'' had been commandeered as a smuggling ship by an unknown gang, all of the ships official personnel were ordered to stay aboard the ship and maintain it or face death. This Engineer, revealed to be named Ignav Lath, is spared execution for treason as his skills are clearly valuable and his faith in the Emperor is unquestioned. 0634, we reach the bridge. Sergeant Falthon is found dead, as well as two other officers. The ships flight crew are found to have been killed on site by the remains of squad A-213. -0648- The ship is fully brought under control. Valuable crew members are spared execution for treason, the rest are shot before being jettisoned into space. Four uncategorised stowaways are found amongst a shipping container. We are ordered to retrieve them for questioning and interrogation. ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... We were found by a team of heavily armed and armoured men. At first I thought they may be legendary Space Marine, until they explained whom they were. The Inquisitorial Stromtroopers threatened to kill me and my friends, unless we offered them up an explanation of who we were. I tried to tell them exactly who I was but they would not listen. They accused me of being a traitor and a smuggler. I protested each accusation and I prayed to the Emperor for his servants to allow me life. This did not help matter though, and the soldiers raised their boltguns, and primed their weapons. Thankfully, a mysterious hooded individual intervened and ordered the vicious dogs to stand down. However, he also told us that we were to be escorted from the ship and explained that we would be questioned further before he decided upon our fate.

The tall and lithe hooded figure dropped a small stone into the hand of the human and turned away, silently but stopped and turned what seemed to be its head;
"Guard the stone with your lives humans, it is has a greater cause than your living and I must now depart. Hail him."
The robes crumpled into a shard of green light and exploded into nothingness, leaving not a single other thing than the stone....

OOC: Is this directed at me? Cause the hooded figure I was refering to was Inquisitor Greystone. Also, is my portrayal of the Inquisition ruthless enough? With them solely choosing to spare those they felt were useful while executing the rest of the crew.

Such a choice left me dumbstruck. Greystone merely continued staring in an enigmatic and cold fashion. The room I had been interned into was bright and otherwise none threatening. However, it was cold and sterile, offering no comfort to the condemned which must have graced it in the past. I was frightened and nervous. What I had prayed for had come true, one of the God-Emperor's righteous servants had saved me from death. But, so it seemed, a much worse fate lay ahead for me. And the intimidating stance of the Inquisitor did nothing to reassure me. A small spark of bravery and determination still lay within. I was a fellow servant of the Emperor. I was a Sergeant! So I made a bold decision. I spoke. To break the uneasy silence which had been created since his last statememnt. "I-I-I... w-would like t-to thank y-you sir... " was the best I could muster "Yes!" the Inquisitor confidently pronounced "For what boy? Spit it out!" I started at this statement. My confidence slipped, and I remained silent once more. Then. Then, I remembered my friends and how their lives depended entirely on my decision. I was scared, the Inquisitor had already showed me what lay ahead. The monstrosities I would have to face. I had only ever known them as "heretics" or "traitors", but the Inquisitor had explained what they truly were. Chaos. A malignant force intent on our destruction and corruption. He had told me of what these beasts were capable of, and that if I were lucky, these evil beings would grant me a quick and honourable death. If I was unlucky... well... even Greystone found it difficult to tell me that... And this! This worried me the most. I do not fear death, but eternal torture is a fate far worse than what the Inquisition could do to me. At least they would gun me down by firing squad. A fitting punishment for cowardice. "For... for giving me a second chance," these words my traitorous lips pronounced Such treacherous mouth! Pronouncing syllables which do betray me. I would rather die a coward than suffer for eternity. Death is at least finite. But there was something stopping me from taking the easy option. A deep part of me buried within the subconscious which had to put others before myself. My friends, yes them, that is what it came down to. I could not condemn them because of my own fears. "Good, so you accept my first offer then. You are happy to fight in the name of your Emperor once more! To serve His Holy Inquisition without question!" the Inquisitor smiled, and for once it was warm and caring. "Of course sir! I am a soldier! I am His Servant!" I could not stop my self from saying it so zealously. "Good choice m'lad, you wont regret it." He grinned, somewhat overly pleased to have recruited another man to his cause. "What of my friends?" I consciously questioned. "They shall be assigned to your new squad, Captain Elixan" Greystone told me while reassruingly patting me on the shoulder. "You'll ship out along side Lord Inquisitor Gausse soon enough"

The Commisar stood with the hooded Inqusitor who had finished 'dealing' with the new arrivals, he and the others entered an awaiting Valkaryie in the hanger and boarded it. The ship took off and began to track Gausses signal;

X'carhis watched the Word Bearers continue to fire on the Inquisition, he quickly was alerted to an incoming Vox;
"Lord, we have discovered a armoured base around 300 miles from the Titan...we believe that.....it houses the...device to open the titans shielding gateway and ultimately control it....but World Eaters and Thousand Son forces are currently engaged and a...psychic shield protects it...we will have to get...closer to warp in. I am awating your commands lord."Â
The Vox ended and X'carhis growled but the Inqusitors could in fact assist him, he could use them to break through the shielding;
"Second Apostle, take command of these troops and finish them off!"

41.381.8.15 Helmian sprinted flat out, shells exploding all around him in gouts of durt and dust, his armour shuddered as a Heavy Bolter shell landed especially close. Damn it I will not be beaten by a coward with a big gun Helmian's roared statement gave him the burst of fury needed to move through the firestorm to the rhino at top speed. One of the shells hit his armour full on and propelled him forwards but failed to penetrate. His body slammed against the hull of the Rhino and he opened the hatch and swiftly got in. Having made it inside the Rhino and now feeling the heavy bolter shells ripple on its iron hide. He sghed in relief. Saftey. No heavy bolter would penetrate the hull of This Rhino. He banged on the door to Nathan. "The Emperor's will demands that we purge them brother, begin your approach." The Inquisitor lord had fire in his eyes, his helmeted head however hid this and all the Fist of Gausse could see was the impassive face of the Lord Inquisitor's helm. "Brothers they have slighted us this day, we shall purge them in the fires of Inquisition. "For the glory of the Imperium!!!" Nathan had the vehicle rumble forwards on its tracks and it moved forwards heedless of the Heavy Bolter shells pattering of its hide. (this is a post that will potentially terminate in the death of a PC if I continue it, so I will stop here and allow the GM to continue it.)

The Second Apostle raised his Las-Cannon, modified with weight balance grav-devices and advanced targeting systems, He looked through the scope and watched the modified Rhino and smiled. He pulled the trigger and fired a blast that tore through the right Plasma Cannon, reducing it to a molten slag of shattered and burning metal. He pulled back while several Chaos marines armed with Auto Cannons took aim at the tracks and opened fire....

Thade was slammed back in his seat as the Valkyrie performed its evasive maneuvers. Everyone else around him including the inquisitor was strapped into one of the seats in the holding bay and Pask sat next to him in his Carapace armor and helmet. As the valkyrie swerved and bumped along, Thade remembered how much he hated space flight if not for this very reason. Here they could be blasted out of the sky and form a flaming meteor into the planet below and he couldn't do a thing about it.
"Hold on Commissar, this is getting bumpy." Pask said with his usual amount of stating the obvious.
"Remind you of anything?" Thade asked as the valkyrie rolled again.
"Not particularly sir." Pask said through clenched teeth as the valkyrie bumped up and down some more. Thade thought about his answer for a few moments and realization set it.
"Right, I keep forgetting you weren't there with me that day." He said over the sounds of screaming engines.
"You'll have to tell me about it sometime sir." Pask replied again with no amount of sarcasm.
Thade looked over to where the men from the freighter sat. He recalled the little skirmish aboard with absolute clarity. Pask had had to shoot one man who tried to run and he himself executed another when the men had all been rounded up. He was sure the remaining men thought he was a butcher, in fact, if it weren't for the shaking of the valkyrie he was sure they would be staring at him coldly from the other side of the cabin. But he didn't care, he knew that stare, in his stint as regimental Commissar, he'd had to execute only three of his own men; one for desertion, one for cowardice, and one for incompetence. Thade hadn't liked the executions in the slightest.
But he was a Commissar, and that was his duty.

The ship shook again but this time, there was no blast. A stream of energy pulled the Valkyrie towards a strange star-craft, made of several other craft. Eldar, Imperial and Chaos parts adorned it, and masses of Disintigrastor Cannons, Dark Lances, Las-Cannons and Auto-Cannons lined it's sides and turned towards the Valkaryie but did not fire. The Valkyrie was dragged into the massive ships hanger bay, awaiting an unknown fate...
"Here we go again"
Greystone smiled at the prospect of the massive craft and sat back;
"Lets see who seeks my attention this time."

The banter between Thade and Pask did nothing to ease the tension they all felt. His comrades had witnessed the deaths of many before, but the shooting of civilians in cold blood was one of the few things that had actually shocked them. Victorus, however, could see reason in the act. He had reckoned that there was something not quite right about the freighter from the minute he had sneaked aboard. And Vic had suspected that it may have been run by smugglers. Unable to think properly due to the constant shaking of the craft, he took to observing the enigmatic Commisar. Vic stared at the decorated man that sat across from him. He was trying to deduce the motives of the apparently heartless creature. What drove a person like him to fulfil his duties? How could he constantly serve the Emperor so justly? Respect, that was what the Captain felt towards him. He understood that the traitors had to be punished for their crime, yet at the same time, he felt he owed the treacherous dogs, as they had granted him and his friends safe passage. While he could never admit it to his friends, who had always reserved a deep hatred for Commisars, Vic couldn't help his admiration of Thade. Suddenly there was a change in the Valkerie's movement. The shaking had stopped and Greystone vaguely mentioned something about "again". Apparently, the ship had been captured by a Xenos vessel. Things were about to get interesting...

(first note, its not a plasma cannon its a twi linked plasma gun, second note. Since when can autocannons get a clear shot on the tracks at the front armour, third note, its front on. Forth note, since when did the apostle have a lascannon AND a twin linked bolter???? And if your going to use PC's to do your dirty work reaper then they are fair game, if they arnt PC's then they are still fair game, Either way none of those are going to live)
41.381.8.15
The rhino drives forwards the right Plasmagun blown off and Autocannon shells exploding against the front armour doing nothing. Anouther lascannon shot sparked of the hood of the rhino as it lowered into a slight dip. Helmian had Nathan stop in the dip, they were covered by the hill infront of them and the Marines couldnt see them. He had him leave the engine running and rev it as if it were driving along the trench. Meanwhile using the sound as cover and he smiled, noone would be able to hear the well greased door open and close whith that massive engine revving. He began to move away from the rhino up the blind side of the trench. He managed to get about 300 metres before a vox message came through on his rove band, Helmian leaned agains tthe rim of the hill and poked his head up listening. Everything was turning to Gak fast, The Chaos marines were advancing to see where the tank had gone and Inquisitor Greystone's transport had been captured by an enemy. Perhaps not this enemy, but an anemy all the same.
Helmian growled into the vox
"Get the Inquisitor back, that is your first priotity, myself and the fist of Gausse will be fine down here on the planet. Just get the Inquisitor back!!!"
Helmian diddnt wait for the reply he simply exploded out of the trench and fired his plasma pistol at the Lascannon weilding warrior as he closed the 20 or so metres to the squad of Chaos marines who turned to fire thier heavy weapons but diddnt have the time. Helmian's plasma pistol shot tore through the Lascannon wielders chest and a follow up swing with his glaive encarmine finished the traitor. A backhanded swing and then a pivot to an uppercut sliced clean through the armour of anouther marine and his subsequent blows agains the heavy weapon wielding warriors butchered them effortlessley.
He raised Nathan on the vox,
"Bring her up nathan, were gonna give her an upgrade.
"Down here on the plaent. Are you sure thats safe?
"Quite sure, we can have these weapons properly purified later but in the mena time I have a use for the lascannon."
Soon the pristine and uncorrupted Lascannon was mounted where the old twin linked plasma guns used to be. Helmian smiled. They would now be a force to be reckoned with indeed.

Before I make the post I'll note some things
1: There are two Apostles, so here's where it may get confusing. There are two Apostle, the Great and the First plus a Sorcerer who isn't an Apostle. One Carries a mace and twin-linked Bolter while the other carries a Las-Cannon
2: They are carrying modified weapons, better sites and all
3: Sorry 'bout Plasma confusion
Boss fight: Second Apostle
Rewards: Advance Las-Cannon, requires un-corruption
Boss level: 1
A Las-Cannon blast tares through a section of the forest, the burning trees reveal a tall and dark hooded figure carrying a Laa-Cannon who roars and takes another shot that deliberately misses accompanied by another chorus of dark laughter from the Apostle who sneers:
"Heretics, you shall no longer defy the Dark Gods. All who oppose me shall perish ha ha ha!"
The Apostle takes another aim as more Chaos marines and Cultists arrive to reinforce his attack, the Cultists explode in a shower of gore that covers the marines;
"Glorious sacrifices to CHAOS!

OOC: Just to check, mine and Warork's men are equipped as Inquisitorial Stormtroopers? Or at the very least they have enclosed helmets (cause otherwise it would be a bit stupid to go down onto a stormy world without facial protection). "All right men! You know the drill! Helmets on!" Vic shouted at his men. "You heard the Captain! Get it done! You don't want to end up dead!" Thade bellowed at the Stormtroopers, just before affixing his own specialised mask. The squad quickly obeyed their orders, affixing the life saving devices. As they were activated, the advanced visual targeting systems sprung to life, allowing the occupants of the Valkyrie to see through the toxic mist. They armed their weapons and waited for the enemy come to them, as they still had the element of surprise. With their helmets now attached, the squad jumped up from their seats. Immediately, almost in unison, Thade and Vic leapt into action, with each one drawing their Chainsword and (broken) Power Sabre (respectively) in a simultaneous action. Katerina and Theodore raised their plasma guns, aiming them at the remains of the rear door. Hectorus lifted up his Storm Bolter, and lined up it's targeting sight with the hatchway. The rest of the squad followed suit, raising their Hellguns and Bolters. "Well gentlemen, looks like were going to have a lot on our plate here! Good Hunting!" Greystone spoke with hint of mirth in his voice, although it was muffled under his breathing apparatus.

(Just realised I have an Infernus pistol rather than a plasma pistol, previous post still applies just switch plasma for infernus where Helmian's pistol applies.)
(heres what I would do if I was a dick)
Helmian hears the lascannon shot and scoffs,
"Fool"
He depresses the send button on his vox and mutters the coordinates for an orbital strike...
(heres what I'll do cause im nice)Helmian hears the shot and the shout and grimaces into his helmet.
"Anouther one? really... Gah, these self proclaimed apostles are fools all of them.
the hatch opens and the marine fires his lascannon at Helmian who calmly ignores the shot as it flicks over his head. The marines all open fire but the rounds patter off of his armour and he laughs as the marine relaods his lascannon.
"Your first mistake was firing at me rather than the tank again."
The marine looks at the rhino and then starts to aim at it again as he notices the hatch opening. Helmian closes the distance with ten quick strides as the fool tries to reload and brings his Infernus pistol up and fires it point blank at the apostle's chest armour, a target so large he couldnt help to miss and watched as the superheated stream of flames liquified the front of the marines armour.

(They just patter of? Ok this is happening once. And even if you tried to call in a strike it would fail.)
The Second Apostles corpse falls to the ground while the marines retreat, they move quickly and are able to escape while the Great Apostle overlooks the humans;
"Fools, they know very little. Let us move, have the Alpha Legion been alerted?"
"Yes lord"
"Good...."

The biggest indicator someone is a loser is them complaining about 3d printers or piracy. |
