Fantastic looking model. Especially for your first painted space wolf. And you are my hero for posting the tutorials for painting the runes, as well as on how to make the ice base. I am going to have to try that once i find a suitably epic looking model to go with it.

Thanks guys,

Ravening Jaw, I think this would look AWESOME if an entire army was based this way not just an "epic"
model

I definitely am going to try at least one model, maybe will make my next squad all based like this.

I have a question for you about the cork material, do you find you need to pin the model even if it is a plastic model, or does the plastic adhere well to cork. Just curious so I can plan ahead.

Thanks.

I tried it, and it worked surprisingly well on my termy rune priest. But still need to practice. Great tutorial though!

Resin is currently drying on my first attempt at using this base technique.

Then I gotta go and paint up Logan...and work on fixing the damned air bubbles. Sheesh.

I hope his feet stick to the cork ok...

I have heard that using a hair dryer in the early stages of drying the resin will help with the bubbles!! If its the metal fig, I would pin him to the cork, don't just glue him. Good luck and I can't wait to see the results!!

Nope, is the resin fig...the bubbles from the resin cast are annoying. If I can make stuff with resin without bubbles, why can't GW? Sheesh

The bubbles in the ice effect are going away pretty well on their own.

Shaman, make sure you share your results! I would love to see how you made out. (I have yet to paint or handle a fine"crap" model but I have heard the bubbles and imperfections is horrendous for a final product.

Thanks guys for the comments,

Cat

Both of these techniques are awesome; I'm thinking they might be perfect for a necron force rising from their frozen tombs

Does anyone know of the availability of the resin or an alternative product in the UK? Would this be the right kind of thing? http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/deluxe-materials-solid-water-90g.html

Catattafish - When sanding the resin do you use fine grade sandpaper or some normal stuff?

Hey Guys,

i have found a source for the castin craft resin in the UK...

http://www.clarke-coatings.co.uk/envirotex.html (Go to easy cast link)

I think the sandpaper was regular, 120 grit, just go light till you get the effect you are after.

I am right now playing around with the resin to come up with some awesome Necron bases
