Honestly knights will likely be a sort of copy and re copy of the dreadknight with different weapons.

Except they're about twice as big, with much bigger weapons. Dreadknight is about 50% taller than a dread, and dread is 4m tall. Knights are 9m, with the commanders units being larger.

where do you get knights are 18m tall from? Because from epic they aren't that much taller, they're roughly twice the height of a dread.

which is about the size of a Dreadknight. fortunately the similarities don't end there either.

I'm not trying to spread hate...but why? I've never understood the lust for an AdMech army. Since there's so many of you lusty folks in one place, why not 'splain it? The whole concept seems like an army of (at best) robots and (at worst) lab techs with techno tentacles. It always seemed to me like the 'fighting capacity' of the AdMech was already represented by the fierce array of technology they make and repair for the other armies.

Not trying to be a dick, just curious.

I think the models would look cool. The fluff is already there, and very interesting, and I think they're a more prominent faction than say, the Grey Knights are. They just seem like an important part of the fiction that should be represented. No other faction that I can think of has this much different about them that doesn't already have a codex in some form. The Imperium is the protagonist, it's represented too much on one place but is still incomplete.

because SO much is not represented, Knights, secutors, cybernetically augmented tech-guard, Praetorians who run on tracks with heavy weapons. Also, whats wrong with the labs techs going to war thing? that's awesome.

Besides they're way more different to any army than blood angels are from space marines, or space wolves from space marines, or dark angels from space marines, or black templars are from space marines.

I suggest gun servitors either as a troops choice or revenue for your HQ. Possibly with a synapse/wraithsight-esque limitaion to represent their need to be commanded. Maybe outside a certain radius they go into a "sentry gun" mode where they stay put and shoot at the nearest unit that moved within their range last turn, or the last unit who attacked them and is still in their range. Failing either having happened, they just sit there and derp. This would allow you to cost them cheaper while still giving them a decent gun. Fluffwise, the short story "Deus Ex Mechanicus" from the "Let the Galaxy Burn" anthology gives a good description of gun servitors to draw from.

Also had an idea for a tank-mounted weapon that incorporates the mechanicus' knowledge of terraforming. Treat as an ordnance weapon that forces a dangerous terrain test for models caught in its blast. You could also have handheld versions that use the flamer template. Kinda like the digger from Gears of War 3.

I also recommend that Space Marines be added, mostly the Iron Hands. They are controlled by a council of Marines known as the Forge Fathers. Working very closely with the Mechanicus and they also listen to the mad ramblings of Servitors to get some insight into the Omnissiah. They are also more closely tied to the Mechanicus Cult than the Imperial Creed.

Tech-Guard should be a troop choice, based off the Imperial Guard. Skitarii should be heavy/fast/elite depending on their role they were breed for. Also a troops choice should contain battle servitors. Even then allowing one servitor to be upgraded to a tracked unit with a heavy weapon and enhanced battle software.

Dark Adepts should have an elite akin to the Kaban machine. A sentient machine twisted by Chaos. To make the distinction between normal Skitarii and their dark counterparts it lies in the difference between augmentations and daemonic mutations/gifts. Scrapcode generator that effects vehicles by causing them to attack the closest model regardless of friend or foe with all available weapons.

As for why? The double headed eagle represents the Imperiium and Mechanicum working together. And they also generally possess a higher level of technology than most Imperial Worlds. A Magi sits as a High Lord of Terra. The Tech-Armies of Skitarii defend the Forge Worlds.

No space marines, it's too similar to allying, and besides no body would take them, i couldn't make them troops and theres already the myrmidons in elites, which out class marines. In Troops there's the regular secutors too who ... well they aren't that good little more than guardsmen in power armor.

Skitarii is the term for all Admech forces, but the Tech-guard are in troops and as per the fluff are almost totally customizable, if at a premium.

terminator armored guardsmen with plasma guns? you got it. Just don't expect them to be cheap, or to survive like real terminators, or hit as hard.

Tech Guard are the human regiments on Forge Worlds. Just like the Imperial Guard on other worlds. They may have more access to biotics, armour and weapons but they are still the guard of the forge worlds.

Skitarii are the gene-bulked elite warriors of the Magi. They may be customizable but it doesn't change the fact that they are considered elite. And its the Skitarii regiments that travel with the titan legions as support. And in some cases Forge Worlds have Imperial Governors as in "Titanicus". So Imperial Guard regiments could also be formed depending on how the world is set up.

That's one version yes. The truth is the lore of the adeptus mechanicus is mixed up, depending on who you ask and what source you're talking about praetorians are either similar to iimperial storm troopers or are vat grown ogryns on tracks with heavy weapons. and in some instances the terms skitarii, praetorian and secutor are interchangeable. So.... I have a great deal of unraveling to do.

yeah I know it's like they were thinking of something not GK related when they came up with it. In fact it's like they were thinking of something else entirely when they were righting the rules for the GK codex and then halfway through someone told them it was a GK codex.

It was going to be called "Codex: Unstoppable Mary Sues who initiate turbo rape on everything to the maximum, and even more maximum-er against daemons and they have transformers too" But that was too long so it became Codex: Grey Knights.
