Sweet job Lizzifer! What do all your mates think of the bases you made?

Head Hunter do share your results if you do use them for your plague marines!

Ah thanks! They're pretty jealous. The only thing I'm worried about is drilling into them....my thunderwolves are too heavy and they need the support. I figure even if the resin cracks it'll just looks more realistic

I definitely will, I haven't figured what I'll put under the ice for the plague marines, any thoughts?

With blood and rage of crimson red,
Ripped from a corpse so freshly dead,
Together with our hellish hate,
We'll burn you all--That is your fate!

Looks great, great video too.

Question: If you make your army on ice and snow, why is the terrain sand and river? Just a showcase question.

Also I saw you cut the chain, so you still have it. You could lay the long end to the cork and the curved end into the base. hen you paint it it could be on the darkest part like it is a chain that dangles deep in the ice.

Absolutely AMAZING This method would also look very cool on an ogre army. If i ever start an army with a cold/snow theme i will definately try tis out

Edit

One question though. I've heard that over time the clear resin tends to turn slightly yellowish. has this happend at all to your bases?

Cheers mate, thanks so much for the comment. I have spoken with the guy that I did the base for Njal , and he has said that it is exactly as it was when I first made it.

Ah, thanks for the swift reply now all i gotta do is either find a place near here that sells the clear resin, or see if they possibly ship it here. ( what with hazard restrictions and all that >_> )

Painting Within the Lines

Cat, if I tinted the mixture with some devlan mud or badab black would it make it look swamp like? With the darker tinge, or would it make more sense just to paint the base (I would aswell as the devlan mud mix) black with different shades?

Hey,

I never tried tinting the resin with a wash, but I did try and use paint and it failed miserably. The resin Mfg Resin Craft has specific pigments to add to the resin to colour it, I am not sure how tinting the resin with a wash would work?

As for painting the base, ya gotta realize, this resin (without scratching and sanding it like I did to imply ice) is CRYSTAL CLEAR. Literally. So I am not sure if it would look swampy like as no swamp has crystal clear water...

Sorry I cant help ya more, but I am doing an ice base in the next few days and I may try and mix some wash if I have any left over to see what it looks like.

Cheers!

Crazy....absolutely crazy....

Bases are another forte of building warhammer models i need practice in. Everything ive painted was either a vehicle (no base) or a regular random Boy with grass base.

I should totally try this tactic with Ghazgul Thraka when i paint him and follow it up with a group of Nobz with bases that match to group him with (Vehicle assault, i dont like Meganobz personally).

An ork with an idea tends to end with a bang.
