Excellent work! ty for sharing Cat. ;D

You are not free whose liberty is won by the rigour of other, more righteous souls. Your are merely protected. Your freedom is parasitic, you suck the honourable man dry and offer nothing in return. You who have enjoyed freedom, who have done nothing to earn it, your time has come. This time you will stand alone and fight for yourselves. Now you will pay for your freedom in the currency of honest toil and human blood.

I assume a Micheals Craft store would have that stuff. I also live in Ontario so should be easy to find. Thanks

Hey dude,

Michaels in Ontario does have it but it was 10 bucks more for the same size!!! Either order it from Currys (go to their website they have a few stores across Ontario) or make sure you go to flyerland.ca and print yourself off a 40% off coupon for Michaels!!!

Cheers and share your results if ya try it!!

Very cool good job !

Let no man glory in the greatness of his mind,
but rather keep watch o'er his wits.
Cautious and silent let him enter a dwelling;
to the heedful comes seldom harm,
for none can find a more faithful friend
than the wealth of mother wit.

nice tutorial! i think im going to have to use this
but i got a question (if not a challenge) for you.
how would you go about making bases that have streams tainted with warpstone? (im starting a skaven army and want to put alot of time and effort into making it very nice looking and thought this would make a nice touch)

Space marine rules.
Rule 1: thou shalt not go anywhere near our sisters during the time of the "Red Rage," lest thou wishes to be the first human to enter orbit without the aid of a shuttle.
Rule 6: Thou shalt not do Spock impersonations around Eldar.
Rule 38. Thou shalt not replace the O2 units on the commander’s power armour with laughing gas
Rule 60. Thou shalt not say, "will someone please tell the emperor to crap or get off the throne”
Rule 67. Thou shalt not punt grots for pleasure.

Because he asked, and I like showing off, and he said I painted it good too Oh and it was a great thing he came up with and I went 'oh yeah!, I've done that with terrain...duh'

Thanks Cat for the simple brilliance of it. The regulars at the store are oohing, ahhing, and wanting me to teach em how.

Anywho, on to the good stuff. Might I present Logan Grimnar

I'm planning on getting some closer up pics to show off the details more.

Hey Shaman,

Thanks for posting!!

You executed the resin ice method with fantastic results!!! and like I said in your original post, the figure is well painted too!

Thanks for your comments. Guys, I don't get paid for this hobby, I have no financial interests whatsoever (No, I am not a youtube partner with revenue sharing . I do however "get paid" when guys use one of my tutorials and let me know if it helped them! If you do use any techniques or methods, I do appreciate if you guys mention my youtube channel on any internet forums regarding wargaming or modelling.

I have no doubt you get alot of OOOHSS and AHHHHS at your local game store because this technique that I have shown, I have never seen elsewhere. I can honestly say that it took me a couple attempts with different products to get this to look like this. I have to believe that somewhere else in the world someone has done something like this, but I did not find anything on using resin as ice while I did a brief search on youtube or google.

Thanks again for sharing your pics and showing us just HOW WELL you did!!

I've done the rocks, and the water/ice effect with some terrain, things in pools, in dungeons, and the like...just the connection didn't click with basing and combining them all until I saw your original Njal post. Then there was the eureka moment, and many thanks to you for it.

Already got the best done HQ in the upcoming tournament thanks to this...and if I can get the rest done, I'm gonna have the sharpest looking army

Again, many props to you Cat.

lots of effort for 2 bases!

i think the effect would be better if you tint the resin itself with blue ink. put a few drops into your mix and stir it around before you pour it

I used this tutorial to make some bases for my Mr. Dandy TW cavalry. They came out really nice. The only really tough part is 'wrapping' the base. mine ended up really uneven so I had to trim it a lot. The pics are in my gallery (pardon the odd warm tinge, they're actually painted with a much cooler scheme.)
