Much as I'd love to know, I think it would be better left as a secret.

i remember seeing them as a reference in the space wolves codex, i think page 9, where it says that all 20 legions were created and given their primarch, so we can rule out that the second and 11th primarchs were killed in the scattering by the chaos gods...
But yeah i would love hints to be dropped constantly in the future, up to the point where someone eventually guesses the entire history of the missing primarchs correctly, THEN they should release the missing primarchs/legions history.

I'd expect playing with Custom Chapters but I'll never expect Lost Legions. They need to stay lost, like Mat Wards idea for the next Warhammer 40,000 Codex, Ultra Angel Blood Templar's.
You missed part of the title: Ward is doing the codex for the Ultra Grey Angel Blood Templar Knights. Their Chapter master is Marnedor Draigar, who single-handedly broke into Khorne's fortress and punched Khorne in his dick. It's not a rumor anymore; they scrapped the upcoming Tau codex and will be putting this codex out in its place.

No one is going to guess their history, because they don't have one. The hints are never going to get less vague than stuff like 'I wish they were still around.' followed by 'We do not speak of them.'

Arguing with some people is like playing chess with a pigeon. You can play the best chess in the world, but at the end of the day the pigeon will still knock all the pieces off the board and then gak all over it.

He tends to Mary-Sue it up, especially if you read Draigos codex entry. He also loves the Ultramarines a little too much. I don't really have a huge problem with it, but it is fairly entertaining. He could do better.

On topic, the purpose of the missing Legions is to allow a player to create their own legion. It also adds mystery, and mystery is enticing. I for one created a legion, and it is awesome. But their Primarch died when he was on a planet that got Exterminatus'd by way of Cyclonic missile. Or did he?

I'm going to pull a Kanluwen and say that rumor =/= fact. The internet has a very, very hard time with this.

Ain't this the truth.

IIRC the lost legions are reference to the lost legions of Rome who went to face the Scots and never returned.

As for fluff, Russ and his wolves destroyed one and the other has been hinted as being destroyed by the Emperor due to corruption.

+1, This. GW has made it crystal clear that they are 2 legions that had their structure destroyed and have otherwise been left alone so that we can each have our own legion if we want to

No, they haven't.

What they HAVE made clear multiple times in White Dwarf is that the 2 missing Legions are missing to create mystery in the setting.

They did NOT create missing Legions so people could fill in the gap and anyone who's ever told you they said that is making gak up.

this means that the Marnedor Draigar ALSO killed all the powerful Daemons in the warp, while sick with space AIDS, blind in both eyes and with his now SUPER PSYKER POWAHZ from the EMPRAH himself after he told him he's the best Marine ever

Right?

The use of a Chaos Dreadnought depends on three things:

1) How often do people piss you off?
2) Do you have any spare socks?
3) How hard can you swing said sock if it contained the aforementioned dreadnought?

Most common answers:
1) Very
2) Yes
3) Very

I like the current portrayal as being taboo to mention.
It's cool how whenever someone in the HH books mentions
them they are instantly told to be silent.

It's like the first rule of fight club "you do not talk about fight club"
Everyone in the story just refusing to talk about it and leaving it as a mystery is more interesting.
But using it as a mystery for the creation of armies made from missing legions is strange because they have been gone for over 10,000 years.
It's just my opinion but the story of just simply being under no circumstances being allowed for an in-universe character to talk about them is more interesting.
