My Orks are a "Pit Krew" of the Speed Freeks. My terrain (when complete) will rep an outpost for the Speed Freeks to fuel up and reload.
A gas station, a workshop, an ammo pile, a watch tower ect.
I tried to take units that would make sense loitering around behind the battle.
The real leader is the Big Mek, the Boss is just there to make sure the Mek is hard at work patchin' up stuff. The Nobz are there to keep the boyz from wanderin' off to war until they're supposed to.
The Burna boyz help cut metal and weld. The Lootaz keep their eyes on the horizon while the Deffkoptaz patrol the area and guide other Freeks back to the camp. The Dread and Kanz help with the heavy lifting and the Runthurd keeps the Gretchin hard at work, painting red on everything .
I think this will help the feel of the battles between my Orkz and my friends Blood Angels. It's easy to imagine the Blood Angels striking at the resorces of the WAAAGH!!! rather than throwing themselves in harms way... especially if there are plenty of Guard out on the frontlines distracting the main Ork forces.

I'm still collecting the models as I'm quite a recent starter, but I'm making a Wych Cult to run alongside my main list. A *full* Wych Cult that is, not just a few Wyches with Blasterborn and Haemonculi, but a Cult lead by their Succubus using only Bloodbrides as elites and Wyches as troops. I use Ravagers as heavies of course, piloted by Wyches.
At the moment I'm also using Reavers and Scourges (independent factions) as I'm rather short on the models I need to do it properly. Later on I'll also include beastmasters, who are techincally offshoots of the Wych cults.
Will it be competitive? Hell no. Will I win with it? Probably not, that's what my alternate list is for. Will I have fun with it? Oh yes.

Word Bearers. Dual Sorceror led, Terminator Anointed body guard for the Terminator Sorceror, some possessed as Elites. Troops are half and half Daemons and Chaos Marines, units of twelve, one unit of counts-as Khorne Berserkers, Mark of Khorne is an unfortunate trade-off as we all know those who dedicate themselves to one God are weak minded fools. Raptors as fast attack, only vehicles as heavy support. Land Raider, one Vindicator, some Rhinos. As you can expect, lots of purity seals, parchment, lines of writing on the armour, trophies. Plastic marine legs are crap, I use the Dog-house technique, which gives me lots of extras to add on.
Pretty much every unit has a story, most have names, and the entire warband has its own fluff behind what its has since the Heresy, which was only about 100 years for them.
Planning my next army, Necrons. Not sure on the name yet, but it has a Lord that, whilst wanting to re-unite the Necron Tomb Worlds that have yet to awaken, believes their new forms are strong and that they shouldn't be returned to the flesh. Has a great hatred for the C'tan though, believing them to be weak for granting great power to those they thought were their slaves. Hunts remaining shards, uses them in battle. Always takes a C'tan shard, lots of Praetorians, Immortals.

A Thousand Sons army made of pre-Heresy Sons who weren't on Prospero when it all went to gakk. They were on a vanguard cruiser, got stuck in the warp for what seemed like a few months for them... and came out almost ten thousand years later. XD Because they were in the warp when the Rubric was cast, they still have Rubricae (and were mighty confused about it!), but despite that they still consider themselves loyal to the old Empire. They're horrified about the Horus Heresy and all the gakk that went down with it. They're not particularly impressed with the new Empire though. ¬_¬ But they generally won't attack it.
'Cause they were attacked by daemons a lot during their time stuck in the warp, they absolutely hate daemons and anything related to the chaos gods. They will willingly punch CSM in the everything ever and kill them till they die from it.
So! Actual army-wise, it is still blue and gold, but has the old white pre-Heresy Sons emblem on their pauldrons/tanks, and there are no summoned daemons, daemonic possessions, chaos spawn, obliterators or generic CSM troops. It's a very tank-heavy army, heh.
The Defiler they have isn't daemonically possessed, it's just possessed by one of their Pyrae technomancer sorcerers after he was mortally wounded. ¬_¬

Well honestly, when I originally made this thread I was thinking more along the lines of paint and modeling theme, like this fire world themed Tyranid Swarm:
http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Hive_Fleet_Nidhoggr
It just sort of turned into a "Show off your themed loadout" thread.
Heck, I was thinking of doing a nid army before my DE. It was going to be an Iceworld themed nid army, with lots of icicles, ice swords, blizzard cannons etc... also had an idea for inquisition nids, as in, synapse creatures under control of a radical Ordo Xenos Inquisitor (though that'd be pushing it).

I've got a sisters army from the Order of the Bloody Rose complete with a super heavy.
A Thousand sons based CSM force, marks of Tzeench all round and blue paint jobs.
Off the back of my sisters i collected some IG allies (Cadians) mainly as an excuse to get lots of forgeworld tanks. The idea behind the force was originally an ad hoc recon force some armoured fist squads a salamander, armoured sentinals with a Medusa that would tow supplies around behind them and provide extra firepower when needed (it made sense at the time). I want expand when they get some decent rough rider models.

I am currently working on a themed IG army for a campaign my gaming club is running. They are in close proximity to a forge world so there are massed tanks and mech infantry. The planet they live on has skilled mechanics of their own so tanks are maintained for long periods of time. To represent this in the game, I locate people looking to trade off or sell older edition tanks mixed in with the newer kits so that no two tanks will be exactly the same. In fact NOTHING in the army was purchased new. It was all acquired through trades or buying second hand and refurbing them.

Orks: Green tide with a snow camo paint scheme. I remember reading in the 4th edition codex on how your horde can be painted however you want, even snow orks! That idea stuck in my head and I had to build my army around that. I even call them Waaaghallans to make fun of the guard Valhallans although my orks don't wear greatcoats.
Marines: Basically vanilla. They were my first army and while I have a ton of stuff so I can run them different ways I don't have them built to a specific theme.
Dark Eldar: My newest army I started cause I loved their background, models, and the fact they are considered a difficult army to master but once you do they are really deadly. My kabal is a fast raidering force with everyone mounted on vehicles. I am currently working on their paint scheme.

Oh. Well my Wyches are kinda icy themed, with metallic armour, ice blue hair and loincloths and creamy coloured glyphs. Other than that I don't really have any themes.
My now defunct Eldar army was going to be a sort of "sherbet Harlequin" theme, using powder blues, pale yellows, pale greens and pale pinks spattered with those diamond checkers you see on the Harlies. I only got as far as the seer and one warlock though. If I ever continue with Eldar I'll stick to the theme. Example: My half of my Dire Avengers will be yellow, the other half blue, and each will have the diamond pattern on their tabards. My Wraithlord will be pale pink with a pattern head; each warlock is a different base colour but with matching patterns... etc.

One fine day, Warboss Blitztoof was looting a library when he found a book with an astoundingly amazing cover. He hauled over one of his Kommandos who could read and ordered him to tell him what the book was about. The Kommando explained, using small words, about the book; which was about reverse psychology. Upon hearing this, Blitztoof decided it was the BEST IDEA EVER. After the next battle, he executed one out of every 10 boyz who were alive at the end of the battle, just to show what a great job they were doing.
From that day forth, enemies of the WAAAGH! regard Blitztoof's battle cry of "RUN AWAY" with fear, confusion, laughter, and finally fear again.

Well my DE archon is pre fall so I use harliequins as one of my elites alot. Seeing as how they had an aliance with a coven some of those haemonculi left with them when the archon left commoragh. Wyches see little use since the succubus' are in commoragh and don't have a source to draw from. His primary goal is to rebuild the eldar as they were before the fall. Thus in any campaign I'm in they go after the nearest shrine they can find in hopes that it was a ancient eldar shrine. It surprised even me when the organiser announeced that each shrine was devoted to a race and I had an eldar one in the first campaign I was in.
My new Chaos army uses a tzeentch theme. Squad of TSons (9 strong) are the primary members. Other chaos marines wanting in can't join if their numbers are more than 9. Although they have pledged their life to tzeentch so they get a mark, they can't get more blessings until they number 9.
The orks are deffinently speed freek goffs. Nob bikers, trukk mobs, and battlewagon or two.
My stormswords are on an ocean world with minute amounts of land. They have used sevral islands located close to each other with the central one being the fortress keep. In order to move from island to island they rely heavily on speeders...as does my SM army. Their colors are a dark blue and white (not ultrasmurfs I said DARK blue), to represent their ocean home. They also are decendant from the BT and as such are a CC oriented group. Vanguard, honor guard, and assault marines are taken over things like sternguard and devastators. Their scouts and tacticals take BP and PW or PF where possible and if not a CCW. They rarely take heavy weapons in the squads.
My IG is based on modern US forces with night schemes. Rarely is the US without air support...enter my vendettas, and use troop transports where able...thus chimeras. The US also can have some of the most high end weaponry available...thus meltas/plasmas on all squads. While it isn't neccesarily an all veteran squad its more PCS that are meched up.
Tau and BT don't really have a theme...well BT are typical assault BT so if that counts.

The first lot are a few shots of my Alien Union Army. Led by the Khrave Warrior Elites (the pink dudes), followed by a teeming mass of Barghesi Raiders and multi coloured Grot Outcasts. The army counts as Orks in games.
The second lot is a few pictures of my Humanids. The Humanids began life as a one off model done for fun on a boring wet Sunday afternoon about three years ago(it's the guy with a 'face hugger' in his hand and his eye pulled out). Since then a small army has sprung into being. The army has been packed in a box for the best part of a year but now I got it out I want to add more.
The big guy at the back is my now Hive Tyrant, but his head broke off and was lost so a unpainted replacement has just been glued on.
The army counts as 'nids in the game. I even converted my own Zoats. The army is based on the Flood from Halo and bit of Aliens background.
I hope you have enjoyed my humble armies!

My tau army is 'themed' in the sense that it's farsight's army, so the entire army is heavily weathered and decorated with ork trophies. I don't know if that counts.
I'm working on steampunking my GK, just to distinguish them from the generic GK paint schemes, but I'm just at the beginning of that process, selling off my painted GK to buy new unpainted models to convert... which reminds me, if anyone is selling the old metal GK models, I'd love to buy them, so PM me.
I really want an Adeptus Mechanicus army, and I'm considering fully converting my GK to represent them, but I think that using Vanilla space marines might be better for that purpose, because of the sheer number of techmarines that can be fielded.
My chaos and necron armies both lack themes, probably because I have more projects than I have free time. Necron, I definitely plan on theming around the new fluff, which I'm really excited about; but CSM, I just love Chaos Undivided and bringing an army to the table that's just an aesthetic mess.
