What I know is that Manticores will be far more valuable then they were before. Facing a Necron army with D3 str10 ap4 pie plates a turn from only one tank? Watch them cry.
Though it may be good to hide the manticore behind something because it will be primary a target and does not have good armour values for going up against a shooty army.

The only thing that looks bad without seeing the codex itself is this Storm lord guy.

Arguing with some people is like playing chess with a pigeon. You can play the best chess in the world, but at the end of the day the pigeon will still knock all the pieces off the board and then gak all over it. |

On a side note, what does everyone think of the videos GW put out premiering the necrons? Seems kind of half assed IMO. The cheesy special effects and lack of creativity in the videos. It wasn't too bad to hear matt ward talk about the necrons but the video itself was kind of bland. Just on a tangent...
I was not aware quantum shielding only affected side/front armour. Good to hear.

Second off all, even if you get close enough they are tough and have tough armor.
Third off all, then what will shoot army's do then? Space Marines, Eldar and Chaos have melee specialist but what about Tau who have all it's army for range ( Kroot are more cannon foder then fighting force )?
They already look a little OP to me, but I will not say anything until I see codex myself.
Yes, because the Tau are good against everything else aren't they? That's hilarious. They're not going to be good against the Necrons for the same reasons they aren't good against any other army.
GangstaMuffin24 wrote:
And it's good to see that there's still some who think GK are OP despite heavy evidence to the contrary....
Right, and having an army that is all 2+ armor save, melee specialist with psychic powers and plasma resistant armor. Who wield teleporting walkers and lot of psycanons is not OP at all ( sarcasm ).
Oh look, it's you, talking crap about how the Grey Knight's are overpowered, again. And again, you have nearly everything wrong. This is what you should do: go and read their codex, go and read battle reports and tacticas about them, go and find tournament results for them. Be amazed.

I'm not the one that started a thread complaining about how OP an army is due to poor reading comprehension.
No ones perfect, but that doesn't mean we have to go and do silly things like starting an extremely premature thread about how something is conceived as OP based on a playtest codex, and has not even been tested by the masses on the tabletop.
Get the final codex. Read it a few times, then you can come and start wailing about how they are OP. Until the codex comes out (And in reality, the army is on the table for a few months) This thread is pointless.

Still, it serves no positive discussion and only breeds negativity about a new release. We go through this every new Codex, and it's completely pointless. These threads should be locked AT LEAST until the release of the Codex.

I wonder if the new Necrons will have sufficient amounts of anti vehicle weaponry ( particularly melters/ melter equivalents ) to reliably threaten heavily mechanised armies.
I mean, standard gausweapons by themselfs look nice but 24 inches isn't that spectacular if you wish to prevent someone from getting close ( and I2 means that even specialised cc Necrons might get murdered by dedicated assault units ).

Nobody refuted any of my points. I am sorry but I am just telling it like it is. I have had necrons since 98 when I dumped my eldar. And since then that's all I have played.
Sure some of the new models look good , but Forgive me for being furious that GW marketing strategy is laid bare in that they decided to nerf all the old necron units to encourage sales of the new, while fundamentally changing the play and feel of the army.

No list is ever OP. If you constantly keep getting beat by the same army over and over and your excuse is... their rules are OP... no I'm sorry to say, your probaly not very good at your army. Watch as a Tau list beats a new Necron list sometime in the future.
There are ways to work around every single army in 40k, fantasy, FoW, and so on, If you lose a game against an army, think to your self why you lost and what units did good and bad, and what units did nothing cept cost point.

I2: So what? Warriors were I2 anyway, the other units becoming I2 is just a standardization. besides, Cron's arn't exactly a CC army so low I really isn't a huge problem.
Destroyers: I would hardly call becoming Ap3 Assault 2 to be a nerf, gained Deep strike too.
Warscythes: Ignoring Invulns was an interesting experiment GW did with Crons and the old Daemonhunter codex, but it was clearly the wrong path. +2 Str is FAR more useful then ignoring the saves of a terminator.
Warriors: Cheaper is better.
Wraiths: Rending, frakking RENDING I tell you! This makes them very scary in CC against both vehicles and units.
WBB: Always getting the chance to come back is intense, even if its only a 5+ now.

Alright lets go over it then.
Okay the monolith gets a stupid glowing door. Hardly makes up for losing immunity to deepstrike mishaps, and the ability to teleport units out of Close combat and give them another WWB roll and losing the previous effectiveness of "living metal"
"Warriors cheaper", also worse.... net effect there.
Warscythe- plus two strength? who cares! nothing like shredding through a lone wolf with a Warscythe that DIDN'T allow Invulnerable saves!
Destroyers - considering they are not assault units the utility of them being able to deep strike is marginal at best. Beside a stat nerf they are now jump infantry. Not jetbikes! no more turbo boast. (doesn't even make sense that a hovering unit is jump infantry)
"Wraiths = 2W each with rending, come in bigger squads" bigger squads of slower units that are going to be dead before they even get their turn in close combat. Nice!
" RP = Cannot be ignored, you ALWAYS get the 5+" Funny thing there was already something called a resurrection orb that prevented WBB from being ignored. and WWB was 4+.
"I 2 across the board...so what." will that's the bonus. So what is right. that was an unnecessary nerf thrown in as spite.
But when it comes to necrons, GW policy is nerf or nothing.

And now Res orb increases the RP to 4+.
+2 strength is a lot more useful than ignoring invuls
Warriors were overpriced before...seriously, they were like 2 pts more than a marine for a crappy I and no options.
Wraiths are not slower. They still have a 12" move that ignores terrain. And they can DS. And they can take lash whips.
This is getting tiring...

The cheesy special effects and lack of creativity in the videos. It wasn't too bad to hear matt ward talk about the necrons but the video itself was kind of bland. Just on a tangent...
I was not aware quantum shielding only affected side/front armour. Good to hear.
Which means you should do a bit more research about your subject, before making a thread complaining about them.
Sorry i misread the info. When you up and be perfect, tell me and i'll give you a cookie.
Misreading =/=poor comprehension.
The threads just to generate friendly discussion and thoughts on the dex; not to have an objective view point on the codex. Calm down.
You can't have any kind of constructive viewpoint, when the Dex isn't even released yet.
So, why don't you just wait a few days more before starting up another one of these silly threads. Granted, I'm sure you'll see them all over the place, just like every release.
