On moon miranda.

So discussion of available information and impressions on what's available so far for a tabletop gaming release just isn't allowed on an internet discussion board for said tabletop game?

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

No one said it was not allowed, by that in itself doesn't mean it's not stupid.

Forming an opinion about how "OP" an army is, and the discussion based on rumors and rules that Have changed almost everyday is silly. Why would you want discuss something, in which you are knowingly ignorant of?

Only two things worry me as a Tau Player: The Swarmlord Stormlord, and Wraiths.

Only one thing worries me as a Daemon Player: Why do we not have "Heralds on Chariot" models yet?

Everything else just seems like a MEQ with FNP. If it walks like a MEQ, talks like a MEQ, and looks like a MEQ, it dies to plasma weapons like a MEQ.

Excuse me for asking, but what does all the short-hand in this thread mean, particularly OP and MEQ?

Thanks,

Jiraiya

Strange, you should be able to mouse over most Acronyms, and then a little box pops up to tell you what it means.

OP- Original Poster, or Over Powered
MEQ is Marine or Equivalent, which is usually referring to a T4/3+ save, or the marine statline in general.

To the OP about necrons being OP: (see what i did there? :-P)

We won't know until after they've released, as many others have stated. We won't further know their full potential until 6th edition, when every codex written since Tyranids will see some things that didn't quite make sense suddenly become easier to understand. Hopefully this will include the Tyranid book itself, seeing as how I own quite a few of the critters (being solely dedicated to playing tyranids as my first real army).

Back to necrons - from rumors alone (and some statements made by people who claim to have seen/own the new book a couple days early) they are still essentially the same army - a slow, tough, shooty army. CC has always been their weak spot (something all armies should have) and will continue to be so, but we now have access to blocking vehicles (other than monoliths) and counter-assault units to help in that department.

Overall i give it the same 3 month test I give all new codices to see where in the power grid they fall. As of right now I predict they will raise from bottom tier to one of the top 6 armies. I hope I am right but anything is better than 17th place at this point.

Been out of the game for awhile, trying to find time to get back into it.

Again, no matter if they turn out to be OP or not OPed they still will make manticores far more valuable then they were before.

Even if they are OPed or not, I never really care. I just take it as a test of my mettle and "Not think of what I don't know, but think about what I DO know and do the best I can." Really just take what I have learned from other armies and adapt them to the Tin'Eadz!

I use my Android for the most part, and that pop-up feature doesn't work. It does explain why the acronyms are highlighted a different color.

As a whole, Necrons don’t look to bad to me and I don’t think we’re going to experience too much new army syndrome with them (just like Dark Eldar).

As far as rules balance is concerned, the only thing that really stands out to me is the Stormlord when used with Cryptek. Whilst at a surface glance, it doesn’t appear be OP, it doesn’t appear to be very fun to play against either.

From what I've seen, which is admittedly not that much, they seem like they'll be a fairly competitive army right up there with all most recent releases.

Of course, I'm also of the opinion that most armies are pretty balanced with the exception of the Tyrannids, old Necrons, and to some extent the Tau.

Everyone should cool down and discuss the issue sensibly if you are interested. Otherwise, ignoring issues is a good way to deal with the Internet.
