Yeah, the lore certainly points to them becoming available to all chapters. I think it was just a matter of the Blood Angels getting them first, or at least using them first. I still don't really understand how they got so many of them so soon though. I don't have my codex in front of me, but I think it says they have 51 Stormravens.

They are not, and IIRC this bit of fluff is detailed in the Deathwatch core rulebook.

True, but I think I'd want actual Blood Angels models. And play them like they battle in the fluff instead of what the current meta is.

Really, the Space Marines desperately need more air support from at least a fluff perspective (and with more air units creeping their way into the tabletop, there too). How an elite airborne rapid-assault force doesn't have any kind of air superiority fighter or light attack craft is beyond strange.

Nobody ever accused any of the writers at GW of knowing anything about military strategy or force organization.

I mean, look at army lists like the Black Templars. To think that a Space Marine force could exist and succeed entirely without artillery, and with almost no fire support is rather humorous. What the Codex doesn't tell you is that they have to maintain a 6000+ strong Chapter because they suffer 80% casualties in every battle. PCs in Call of Cthulu games have a longer life expectancy.

Depending on how big the profit margin is on stormraven, it may well be in the next Space Marine codex.

Actually it isnt really the weaponry that makes the Baal class pred so desirable it's the supercharged engine it has that can be reverse engineered to fit all vehicles that make use of the rhino chasis. Fast vindicators, rhinos and predators anyone?

Because the GKs always get the best tech? IIRC that is why they all have stormbolters, all their HQs have Iron Halos (except Librarians, still don't get why that is), most of the chapter is in Terminator Armour, etc...
