I did ... so I suppose I am safe... of course I did read most of that series..... and found it annoying.
Also read DRoP, LotR, and Glen Cook's 'Black Company' series.... among others.

What a crappy article. This genre bias is so tedious. "Game of Thrones" is barely fantasy. Great series with deep characters and lots of intrigue.

Hahaha, I read the article and cracked up.

Especially at this part.

Who hasn't done that?

I haven't read the novels but I've seen the HBO show a few times.

Lots of doggy-style.

Just looking at the previews it seems like watered-down high fantasy so "normal" people will like it.

I've read the books years ago, but if I can't afford GW models, how the hell am I supposed to afford HBO??!!?!?

The novels where rather well done, I did like the grey-joys ?? (the guys with the squid standard). But as I said that was along time ago.

I enjoyed the HBO series for what it was - and Peter Dinklage was great in his role - but when I tried to read the first book, I couldn't get through it. And it isn't because I had seen the series. I've seen plenty of movies, found that they were books first, and then went on to enjoy the books themselves.

Heck, I enjoyed the Dragonlance novels more than the GoT books, although the card game produced by FFG is fun.

I'm sure you can find it somewhere online.

Not that I or Dakka is advising or condoning that.

How can one man be so wrong?

Seriously, I get why anyone might not like the GoT series, at the end of the day they're just relatively well written pulp. But you liked Dragonlance more? I remember those from when I was about 10, you couldn't pay me to read them now. Something about your post just really tickles me (no offense) I think it's the avatar. I can just imagine this bearded, venerable gent smoking a pipe and saying "I enjoy dragonlance. [puffs pipe, strokes beard] Did not care for the novels of GRR Martin . . . found the collectable card game based on them mildly diverting though"
