That's not really fair, a lot of members here are kids. I'd say that most over 20 are not virgins which is pretty normal for the wider population.

Now, in an attempt to get things slightly back OT, I honestly believe it's a pretty broad and often unfounded misconception that somehow all gamers are lonely, socially awkward kids...
It's been my experience that while these types certainly exist...they don't make up the entire " gamer population"...as I've met plenty of military ( ex military) and others who certainly don't fit into this sterotype...

...Then again I could be mistaken...as I didn't get into 40K until I was Thirty and don't have the foggiest idea of what " growing up as a gamer " entails.

Have we had a "how did your relationship start" thread yet? If someone else makes it I'll post in it.

The decisive factor, when asking, whether or not a "gamer" also classifies as being that so-called "lonely, socially awkward" type, is the amount of time they've put into it, and whether or not they're able to distinguish the games-people with the non-games people - so to speak. Spending too much time on one thing, whilst neglecting another, makes you into what people call a "nerd" (i believe?).
- But basically, social skills aren't much different from working out. You don't gain stronger muscles, if you don't use them. The same goes for being social.

I think it's important to be able to do both. Games are fun, YES! But i've hardly ever sat down and had recollections about how happy that one time, playing a certain video game made me. Spending time with my family, having a ball with some friends, or falling in love, however, has!
- Personally, i've wasted too much time on games, in general. I still love to play them. But in my "later years", i can't enjoy them for as long, as i used to. They're just not that fulfilling for me anymore. OTOH, i wouldn't want to give them all up either.

And I have to agree with you that having multiple interest is essential...at least IMO..to any sort of relationship, I mean honestly...who the hell want's to discuss War Barbies all the time?

Actually, alot of people does.

I recall i had this great wish of becoming a big-shot on the Danish Tekken scene. And so i practiced. I used roughly 8-10 hours a day on that game. And i got good at it.
- Earlier i joined the International Tekken-forum, and learned about a similar danish site, and started talking to a good portion of guys sharing the same interest - and most on the same level as i did. After some time, though, the interest for the game fell, and you started realising, that you just couldn't speak with the others in the same way, as you used to. I guess i just outgrew having that intense interest for these games.

Some people stick with these interests, however. I've known quite a few of them myself. But being a gamer/nerd doesn't mean that you can't function outside of your given interest.

Personally, i wish for my own family. But i'd hate it, if that meant for me to completely give up my hobbies and interests, i guess?
