Has to fit on a certain base size. For reference, that base is the size of a CD.

I would LOVE it if PP had GW's capacity for plastic, but that is a Huge monetary investment, and PP seems afraid to invest too heavily in production like they expect their bubble to burst at any moment. They do do some plastic, but it's no where near GW's quality, and the production of it is out sourced overseas.

For the materials of this, based on their other battle engines I would guess the Tuffaloes and the Trolls are metal on this, maybe the yoke as well, while everything else is resin.

I don't have any PP stuff that isn't metal so i don't know.
But what i meant was, maybe its time for them to expand ( base size for example, less constricting model )
And resin ( didnt they have plastiresin? ) they should make large kits out of those.

Ugh... I really, Really dislike PP's "plastiresin". Give me metal or give me plastic, please, but not something in the middle

Interesting that this will probably be a hybrid kit, I hadn't realized that! Are the "resin" parts a 3rd material? (i.e., most trolls are metal, fennblades are the only "plastic", and the "resin" on this will be something else entirely?)

Forgive me, I'm a troll-only player... we only have one "plastic" unit so that's my only reference point here

The battle engine resin is what one would consider a more "tradition" resin, not at all like their plastic.

And personally, I prefer their plastic to metal. It's a pretty durable plastic that bonds really well with glue.

Got it- thanks! I'm going to be getting it no matter what but it's certainly interesting that they've got 3 different materials going atm.

Game rules are based around base sizes, Luna. You'd have to re-do everything
to change them. And I think they use the circular bases to create symmetrical
ranges coming out of any one model. Oval bases would have funky ranges.

Well, they added a new base size when they introduced the War Engines in Wrath, Luna - it went from the largest base being 50mm (see: heavy warbeast/jack) to 120mm (I think - anyone with a WE, feel free to correct me).

At the minute, I can't see them going larger again for anything, though I suppose it might be possible to introduce something between the large and largest base size...

A good casted and quality resin at the market average standards ( NOT GW or FW) does produce far superior details than just plastic kits.

I've been pretty unimpressed by their resin so far... I have two Storm Striders and there are mould lines all over both of them. Which isn't usually a problem to file, etc, but they always seem to be on detail points. Same can be said for the Cygnar plastic jack kit. Mould lines that are really hard to remove on some detail points (I'm looking at your mould line running through metal shoulder rings).

My plastic fennblades are okay. Some mould lining there too, but nothing to severe.

Do we know when the Plastic Beast kit hits? I think I do want to convert this to have a dire troll pulling it, but that will be far easier (and lighter) to do with the plastic.

As I consider that, I think it's actually rather odd that the upgrade kit isn't coming out the same month as the plastic `Jack it goes on.

I kind of like that Skorne bird. I was looking into Skorne as my second hordes army anyway, and not that the bird would be a major selling point, but it would make an interesting center piece.
