Basically worked on magnetizing the new Fire Prism kit. This was my first of the new Fire prism kits so I had to play around with the magnets a bit. Hopefully it turns out alright though. Getting the prism cannon to stay was a bit tough, but I eventually worked it out!
After a few hours of magnets, superglue and drill shavings, these are all the magnets I've attached. I'm probably not quite done just yet though, so I'll need to work on some things tomorrow as well.
Also, I attempted to dry-build the model, just for a mock up to give an idea of what the finished product might look like.
As you can see, the tail-fin of the Falcon Type-II really helps to balance out the new Fire Prism model. I'd even say its a necessary addition! Regarding the wing-tips, I kind of agree with SnakeByte and am leaning toward the Falcon Type-II ones at the moment, although if anyone has suggestions to the contrary, please post!
Also SnakeByte, I played a few courses today, its quite fun! If you care to, perhaps PM me your 3DS friend code? Maybe we can play sometime!

Another small update, basically worked on greenstuff work today. Attempted to make the inner of the weapons more presentable. Additionally, prepped turret and the housing for magnets.
I also attached the back tail plate to the top half of the main Fire Prism hull.
The tail fin bit itself was a bit broken, a bit chipped off on one of the corners where the gates for the resin were attached. I had to reconstruct it using some plasticard. You can see the pure-white bit on the left-middle.
greenstuff work will continue tomorrow zZzZ

Rather messy day today. I tried playing with Liquid green stuff for the first time today and it got everywhere. Additionally, I started gluing things together, and the Prism Cannon itself proved to require quite a lot of cleanup.
Basically continued greenstuff work from yesterday. Used greenstuff, and liquid GS to blend back plates together.
Additionally, I finalized how I wanted the magnets in the turret to work out. 3 pairs of magnets hold the weapon to the turret, and one pair of magnets holds the enclosure.
Here is a pic of the turret. I performed a rather small conversion and moved the targeter? bit on the left side over to the right where long fragile vane thing should be. You can tell where the targeter should have been by still-visible circle on the left side. I filled it in with superglue, and then used a file to extend the panel line across, and blended everything in with sandpaper/liquid green stuff
Finally, here are some pics of almost the whole model.
Tomorrow I'll probably need to continue work on the Prism cannon itself.

Haha liquid gs is pretty neat but rather messy to work with! in my experience it works best if you pour a huge blob on the gap. Then it won't run down the gap and you won't need to redo it countless times. Additionaly you can file down the gs and get a really nice smooth finish! Maybe play a bit around and you may find some better way, am still trying to figure liquid gs out
I really like how you did your magnetizing. It's pretty tough to get that "invisible"
I would try to convert the fireprism ones to look like the forgeworld ones, just bigger and if you fail, you can still use the forgeworld ones.
Mario kart 7 hasn't arrived yet... Will send you a pm once its here!

Yesterday was basically more of the same from before, just fixing bits and pieces here and there. Today though, I was able to prime the entire model, and hopefully it will be ready for the first coats of paint tomorrow!
Additionally, I must say, liquid green stuff isn't really what I'd hoped it to be. It dried grainy, and even with sanding, I wasn't really able to achieve a nice smooth finish. Perhaps it could work with other armies, but I don't think it fits with the Eldar Aesthetic unfortunately. Maybe I'm just being OCD, but you can kinda see it in this pic. I tried to blend in the middle pate with liquid GS.

Damn, Mario Kart 7's online is addicting!
Despite the distraction, I was still able to push through and provide some progress! Simple, basic stuff, just some highlights on the Black. I'll probably be continuing this tomorrow. Its still a bit messy at this stage, but by the end of it, it should turn out like the Wave Serpent.

Almost? finished with the highlights on the Black for the Fire Prism. I'll probably put a layer of varnish over it tomorrow before I start working on the other colors!

Wow... its been a week since the last update. Been slacking hardcore on this project =.= Monster Hunter Tri G came out last Saturday, been playing that all my free time. Not to mention I had received Final Fantasy XIII-2 in the mail yesterday as well. Gah. All this vidya, why can't I hold?
Anyway, I read that Imperial Armor 11: The Doom of Mymeara was released yesterday/today'ish, and that kind of gave the the spurt to finish the Fire Prism off first. I'll probably take a small break (probably about a month or so) after I'm done with this Fire Prism!
Pics of progress from today. started working on the bone, as well as painted up the crystal for the Fire prism. Do tell if you have any suggestions!
The top hull basically looks like this. Decided to go for a white prism cannon this time.
The bottom hull. Since the hatch in the back has been sealed shut, I didn't think there was a necessity to paint any of the insides other than the engine intakes, and the sensor vane.
Finally, just a closeup of the Prism cannon. Hopefully how I painted the crystals would be easier to see here!

Small update!
Finished the bone color and started work on the lighting! I'm basically done with the Ulthwe-white lightning and you can see the basic pattern of the purple lightning sketched out in hormagaunt purple. it may or may not change in the near future.

Merry Christmas Eve everyone.
Today's update will be the last for at least a month or so. However, I've completed the first Fire Prism!
Just a quick look at it.
It was the first of the new fire prism kits that I've worked on. Started out a little bit rough, but in the end I was happy how it turned out. As you can see, the Forge World Falcon Type-II bits also add a lot to how the model looks. Very happy I got those parts.
Just a quick side-by-side comparison with the Fire Prism that it will eventually be replacing.
As you can see, the new Fire Prism kit has a much sleeker profile. I like it very much. Then again, it might simply be due to the Type-II bits.
Here it is also side-by-side with it's brother, the Wave Serpent that was completed earlier.
Anyway, happy holidays people! Hope to be back to this blog in a bit!

I can't believe you've not had more people commenting on this awesome project. You've made Ulthwe interesting without taking away how menacing it looks, which is quite an achievement.
The highlighting is just right, I think. Alongside your old models the new ones really look better defined. Makes me realise ought to have highlighted the panels first on my own unfinished black Falcon.
Looking forward to seeing more.

So, its been a while since the last update.
I've now got a tournament coming up March 18' th, and I would like to get all of my vehicles done by then. This means I will need to finish painting 1 Fire Prism, and finish building 1 Falcon and 1 Wave Serpent.
As this Fire prism was basically built the same as the previous one, I skipped reporting on all the boring bits and just primed it up. Here it is waiting for the primer to dry. I'll start actual painting tomorrow.
