There is a difference

You wanna be a fanboy and pay over the odds cos it has EM embossed on the lid is your look out. A fool and his money etc. No idea why you would want let alone need such a piece of kit.

Ditto to Namica. Not seen any evidence of people getting mad.

You're being passive aggressive as hell, as you always are in these sorts of threads.

We get it, you don't like GW prices, why don't you try to contribute to these threads rather than jumping in to each and every one and going "GW charges alot! Don't buy it guys!"

We get that you have to jump in these threads and defend the indefensible and now are starting to make personal comments
We also get that you are sensitive to any just criticism of GW

If you had read it, not just looked at the pretty piccie, it says:

Eavy Metal Brush Set
The 'Eavy Metal Brush Set includes one large and one standard brush, both of which are handmade and of the very highest quality, using the finest Kolinsky Sable brush hair. A brush tin, embossed with the 'Eavy Metal logo, is included to protect your brushes, and is able to hold up to six additional brushes. The set also features two pots of 'Eavy Metal Medium, a clear matt wash that can be used to thin paints into glazes. An eight page booklet completes the set, full of useful painting hints and tips, courtesy of the world class 'Eavy Metal team.

Living in Australia, I'm the last one to defend GW prices. The paint kit here? Costs about $450. And still it's not a bad buy, just too much of an outlay (esp after the b/f just bought his necron army after waiting for the re-release for a decade). And I remember looking at the tin in the Christmas gift catalogue and thinking 'damn, that's not a bad pressie, but it's not for me'.

This however:
FYI I ain't complaining, just taking the piss.

There's a word for that. It lives under bridges and eats billy goats.

Apologies for deigning to sully the name of GW
I must rush out and buy a tin now I know that it is a fantastic and really useful set
My painting skills will improve immensly because it is endorsed by Eavy Metal

It doesn't say in the OP that the brushes are Kolinsky sable
Sorry if it was in one of the fanboy posts which got skimmed through and I missed it
Apologies for not drooling over the GW webpage and seeing the description there.

Wrong character in the story pal, in fact wrong story

I am allowed to have an opinion on GW products. Just because in this instance I feel they are taking the mickey and you disagree that is trolling?
Typical behaviour to try and derail any criticism of GW by resorting to these tactics.

And expect a mod to intervene anytime soon. Trying to provoke a shutdown is the norm on these threads
and you call me a troll

So instead of actually looking at the link that was posted you shot your mouth off with a smidge of the available information?

Awesome.

If you're not actually going to bother to read relevant links to the products concerned and have no interest in debating and just wish to "take the piss" out of other users then it's probably best that you don't post at all.

Erm I actually reminded the OP that there was no link
He kindly edited the OP
I didn't see a link
I didn't see Cadian kindly point one out either

Cadian was too busy perpetuating the argument.

edit Reds posted while I was typing
All the linking was done after the fact as far as I can see

cf my comments about tactics used to close down threads critical of GW!

Why don't you just kindly step out of the thread now while you're "ahead"

It's an expensive hobby, you don't exactly have to remind people who are ALREADY BUYING that they are spending alot.

Nor do you have to do it constantly, all over the forums. You aren't shocking people when you mention it's expensive, they know.

You don't need to spend £30 to get two brushes though. I buy decent quality brushes for a fraction of this cost and produce adequate paint jobs.

They may be Kolinsky sable, but they won't be top of the range, GW undoubtedly will have a large mark up on these as they do with all their hobby materials which are always much cheaper elsewhere.

You don't have to buy it, there is nothing in the world making you buy it, and complaining about it is just foolish.

What you're seeing as people 'getting mad' is more people questioning the logic behind the product. Everybody understands that they're not obligated to buy the set. That doesn't change the fact that the pricing seems a little peculiar.

Pointing out that they have an opinion on that is more or less exactly what the forum is for. People complain not just because it's 'what people do'... but because they have an investment in the hobby, they're interested in what is released, and they struggle to understand just why GW do some of the things they do.

I'm not getting 'mad' at GW when I point out that $83 is a ridiculous price for this set. Just presenting an opinion.

I'll tell you this now, just once because I know you wern't directing that towards me.
But really, it is very important that GW fans understand this.

Chibi - Of course it has Eavy metal on the brush.
Why would GW have another companies name printed on one of thier products?
Do they have the plastic sellers company logo on all plastic box sets?

Also, "A fool and his money"
Funny quote, even better when you complain about a metal tin, which works out at about £4-£5.
Now, compare that to any GW model kit.
Everything is overpriced, however, we accept that.
We are all fools with money for buying the models, let alone other things

Personally, I think that not even Creed has enough tactical ability to fix GWs overpriced-ness. It's just the way they are.

What's wrong with defending the undefendable? How else are we to know that it is undefendable than by observing both sides of the argument?

HIDING IN METAL BAWKSES!

Hmm...I am stuck.
All that I really want from that are the Wyches, Raider, Ravager, and Reavers, because I want to make a Wyches-spam army, but if I put it on an X-mas list, I could sell units I don't need and make money to get more stuff, though that affects my moral side a bit...

Thoughts?

I'm still not seeing anything peculiar about the price. It seems pretty resonable compared to what they could have charged dpending on the quality of the brushes.

If they're up there with Series 7's, or are in fact rebranded Series 7's as some have speculated, then even $83au for that set is reasonable. I've bought Series 7's and other good quality Kolinsky Sable brushes. They're expensive. Those size decent Kolinsky Sable brushes retail in Australia for ~$35au. So that's ~$70au for the brushes alone. $13au for the two pots of Medium, the tin and the booklet is pretty average. I was impressed they didn't break $100au. That would have been lolworkshop pricing.

i think its harder to sell individual units on their own as opposed to selling a lot but I would give a try anyway. If that is your list then you can build it from there
I would rather buy 3 battleforces you get 30 of each troop choice 3 raiders 9 reavers

Hmm...that might be better. For what? 30 bucks more I get the things that I really need, and can still sell some stuff. I am sure that there are people looking for Kabalite Warriors for gunboat armies.
