Unit - wrong, see page 20. Lowest numerical save IS DEFINED as the best save in 40k.

But a problem does arise in the fact that dispersion shields have an added ability.

The way I see it, sure, 1/6 of your shots could potentially hurt hurt your own unit, but in the process, your opponent now has a greater chance of dying. Fair trade.

That may be true. The rules dictate that you can't choose to do that.

Honestly, would you complian that your opponent is taking his 6++ over a 2+ save?

That rule is stupid and needs fixed.

Would we complain about someone that is not following the rules, I think I would have a problem with that.

There are many occasions when it is better for your opponent to take a worse save than their best save. Not being locked in combat so you can shoot next turn is one of them.

The Dispersion Shield's abilities are not a part of its save and therefore would have no affect on choosing which is the better save. It is clearly the 3+ armour save.

Yes, I would. I don't want to kill an entire squad the turn I charge, I want to leave 1 or 2 models stay locked in CC for next turn. Allowing him to voluntarily wipe his squad a) breaks the rules b) ruins the ability of CC armies to avoid being shot to death.

Do you see many people complaining that I want to count my bolters as Ap1?

How about tank shocking a unit and claiming that the unit hit dies?

Or better yet claiming my opponent receives no cover save from my Battle cannon when they are standing in a forest?

What about moving my basic infantry units 30+"?

All of the above are against the rules, just as against the rules as taking a lower save(you have no choice in which save you use, you always use the best save).

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

Edit:

Yes the taking a lower save was meaning the worse save; which I thought I clarified using the parentheticals.
