Been a while since my last post as I have been busy with my commision work. Finishing up my friends drop pod was a pain in the butt being I haven't painted anything like it. Let me tell you, it was not fun. I tried my first attempt at chipping on the pod and I found it rather successful overall.
I'll be working on my guard shortly, but haven't had much time so here's my not so good picture of the pod from last night.
Yes, I am posting from school, computer lab is a great place.

Not really related to my rebels, but one of my armies none the less.
It is about that time I resume working on my fantasy army that I had sitting on sprues for a while, not an incredible amount of fantasy stuff, but for this army its a decent amount. I have started assembling my dwarves, the Obsidian Hills Dwarves, color scheme undecided at the moment, but something in the works I think in the green sector because its a great group of colors and it is one of my favorites. As for stuff I have do far, I have...
2 cannons
32 warriors hw and shield
16 long beards or at least that's what I think their called haha with great weapons
24 gunners
24 miners
2 dwarf lords, one will be my thane when I get around to painting them
And some troll slayers in the works.

What an amazing week for my wargaming and my own craft. I started last week with my RP group playing an amazing game of D and D! It was an epic session where my eldritch chain and blast served me well, I am the glass cannon of doom!
On to the war gaming which was fun as well. I play Thursday nights at my not so local store though it is pretty much my home at this point for wargaming. I gained a new respect for my foot guard and am glad that I started playing this list of guard because in all honesty, I don't enjoy vehicles combating because I am a firm believer in the philosophy of one man ( though he may be plastic and made of paper) can make all the difference in the world. Yes, I am a half life fan and yes, I have every one of them even blue shift on disc.
Durring my Thursday visit, I as a painter was recommended to a person to help him finish his army which is awsome as I now have four clients for my work. I also got a great game against a space wolf player, now you must be thinking, this guard player is crazy! He can't play wolves with an all foot list, he would be eaten! Now that's not exactly what happened.
It was a 2000 point game and I had only a few pieces of armor on the field, 2 armored sentinels with one ac and one pc, two scout sentinels with missile pods and 2 hunter killer missiles as well as one leman russ mbt. The game ended in a tie, but there were some note worthy happenings durring the match. My priest whom I appreciative most dearly after this weekend slew 2 thunder wolf cav with his eviscorator and morgul khamir ate wolf scouts for dinner. I had the most sucessful order of my life go off aes well, Logan dropped in his pod which I painted for him a few inches further back then he anticipated. As they dropped, I unleashed a first rank second rank volley of las guns into his death squad with 30 las guns, half within 12 inches. The game ended a little later, but it was fun.
Spent Friday assembling dwarves, so many dwarves...
Saturday was a 1500 point foot mega battle at another store further away then my usual. Pictures explain most of it, its a great day for my priest again and a company commander killing 4 csms with a power weapon is good.
Sunday was fun, I played a 1500 point foot guard list against a sw player go figure who also played a foot list which was really just a fun game. Again the evisirator claimed more wolf cav with rerolls this time! I actully got the charge. Game was short, but ended in a tie again go figure, but that was ok with me. Later when I got home, put my iron breakers togther and painted one dwarf after being inspired by a guide on how to paint dwarf flesh which was a pain before the tutorial even though I'd never bothered with a lot of layering, but now I will. The picture explains all!
Also got a bolt thrower for $15 today.

Another update to this glorious rebellion! A small story too.
The main thing is I primed all of my in use infantry and characters. I aquired two squads of renegades from a friend of mine in a trade on Sunday, not the forgeworld ones, a homemade unit and a command squad for tgem as well which fills out 20 more guardsmen to add to blob #2. That being said I went through a whole can of spray paint on I think about 80 something guardsmen and my 92 dwarves who were on my agenda for today. I did begin to start the layering on the flesh colors and armor with the uniforms as well. Much of what I did get done was assembly line painting last night and it got my guard one step closer to being finished as far as infantry goes.
My new favorite advisors unit is the priest, given and evisirator, he is the best 65 points ever. He the one I started painting already has claimed 4 thunder wolf cav and 15 or so marines.

Update part 2!
After some long and annoying hours of painting and basing, I have some more to show from my afternoons progress. It's a bit different then my usual techniques for assembly line painting as I did try layering with most of these guardsmen. Most of the layering was for the skin, but I began to try some new highlighting brushes which were amazing and gave a good amount of color to the simple guardsman. I painted only 11 models today which is a bit of a bummer, but ill get over it. They aren't complete in the sense that I based them and their done, I still need to pick out a bit of detail, do symbols and las guns most importantly.
Here is what I got this weekend which is awsome...
2 squads of cadians with a nade launcher in each and a melta command squad.
Still an absurd amount of work, but its getting done slowly.

What do ya know bout painting dwarfs son??
Well most time I've ever spent painting one particular part of a model and it kills me because of my goal at being effecient. I am very pleased as this is my second attempt at painting multi layered flesh, i am very happy with these fellows though.
Thursday was a victory for the foot guard, won 4 to 2 in a kill point match against death wing. The wolf slayer claimed a dreadnought and a lot of terminators with his evisirator. Also Commisar Chaps killed many with his reroll power fist. I may have lost 39 guardsmen, but I only lost one squad to leadership and a squad to terminators. Marbo showed Balile what demo charges do and survived!
Back to dwarves though, got more of them and finally movement trays for them. This is going to be my army of painting and competition winning! Long live the Alpine Jarls!

What a great day, after being at my friends house till this morning, I got home around noon and started working on those 10 miners, though their not done, their one step closer to being completed as my dwarf army is my long term project and nothing to rush as I now have over 100 models for my dwarves... It's going yo be a long road for these buggers.
Going to work on my guard later this week after commisions, but nothing I cant handle. Here is really just a picture update. Automatically Appended Next Post: Spent my morning basing and touching up on my miners! Their done awwww yea man.

Well my guard are progressing on schedule even with commisions in the way. I plan to have two sheets of foam full of 40 guardsmen each done by next Wednesday.
Also helped my friend with his commision that he just got back, the osl was in my opinion poorly executed, so i took it and fixed it.

Yesterday was a productive one. I started painting 30 models, 10 guard, 20 dwarves. My guardsmen should have been my main concern as there is an invitational and i want my army to be fully painted for it. The dwarves are a large force and are to be worked on when I can on order to have st least 1500 points for an escalation league at my local store.
My agenda overall, finish my guard and work on some dwarves!
Also, haven't had a lot of time for commisions, need to get them done when I can. Have to keep up my funds.
Also when you spend half of your painting time finishing beards, then you know your a dwarf player. Single most important part of a dwarf.

A merry chaosmas to everyone! This is an update of a small mobilization for the betterment of chaos! Many of the units I have are still in the process of being painted or repainted. After my guard sillyness, it will be a time for a revisit of my chaos, a massive repaint of my reavers in order to have an even more massive unit of soldiers. With the editions of my wip magma marines and another squad, this time a flamer squad, there will be much to do.
The guard are a steady process and I will be looking into a week of mass painting this upcoming week because of the holiday break I have. This means in dept breakdowns of my soldiers stories and my special characters profiles. Something more fun. Get to know a little bit more about my play style and my career so far in wargaming.
Most important thing to know about me, only been playing and painting for roughly 9 months.

Last night was a long one, completed another 10 guardsmen and tried something a little different for a power weapon. Ive always wanted to make a power weapon chainsword, so I did. Also threw a khorne guardsman to diversify my unit a little bit. Had a stroke of genius last night after watching some history channel and reading some blogs of fellow chaos players, I came up with my penal legionares/veterans who will be started today after posting this.

I really like the color scheme w/ your Guard a lot, it's dirty and gritty and very "action-orientated". Would make sure your opponent knows the Chain Sword is a Power Weapon though. It still looks like a Chainsword and your opponent might assume that's just what it is.

Today was the day of counting and rebuilding. Built my flamer vet squad with a demo charge and a hf. Also fixed up the model that will become my strakken. Now the concept for my new vets and infantry in general came to me while I was reading and day dreaming. Hooded and blood covered with reddish skin and sharp stabbing weapons. I made some goofy demo charge out of two sets of grenades in a gs bag with the guy using a switch to set it off. I scavenged over 26 guardsmen today and found enough bits to create 45 to 50 more guardsmen and 6 or 7 more heavy weapons squads which is what I need.
Thank you all for the comments and keep them coming! It's great for moral!

After getting this model, I had plans and they finally came to fruition. I made him a multi role model, either strakken, an inquisitor, or my favorite, kharn. He was a very simple conversion based off of the old demonicus inquisitor. I made a demon hand and added horns. After that, well im here posting haha.

Now I don't believe I'm the only one who doesn't have anything against the elite choices in the guard book, I like them. Not some of the models though, they make me sad, so here is my solution since I play the sons of slaughter list in the vraks IA books. I always liked the beastmen army, but had no intentions of using them for fantasy. After reading through the list I saw bloodgor beastmen, a troop choice for sons of slaughter and was inspired to work on my own beastmen guard and have a good reason to exploite nice kits.
After a bit of planning in my mind as paper and me arent on terms with one another as I have no wish for people to have my ideas if I forget my book, so I memorize my lists and all that fun stuff, but I digress; I made my renegade ogryn bezerkers out of beastmen Minatours and have only completed one as the other twl are being assembled at this very moment. I greenstuffed a rebar club, the masks and tubing as well as really anything else necessary for the model.
Enjoy

Wow, a lot of updates that I missed. The GS on the Guardsmen is PERFECT! I'm kicking myself for not having tried that already. I may have to give it a go when I start working on my Cult again.
Strantus Ivictus is wicked! That is a great model for sure and I think it's going to add a lot of character to your army.
The Minotaur "counts as" Ogryns are brilliant in both idea and execution. Everything you've done lately is excellent. Looking forward to some paint on your latest creations!
