Us? It's because they let you damnable Brits on the board that I have to second-guess every post regarding fried potato bits. "Chips, eh? Oh, crap - got to check his flag..." And Pepsi is superior to Coke, regardless of the standing of Dr. Pepper. Just sayin'.
Personally, I don't snack when I'm at the workbench or the gaming table - if I'm hungry, I go to the kitchen (don't game outside of my own place, really) and come back when I'm done. It's as much a consideration of available space as it is a desire to avoid splitting focus or interrupting flow, but it's mostly (by far, honestly) because I'm incredibly protective of my things. A cluttered workspace is one thing, a dirty one is another, entirely - a field of plastic shavings and dust is fine, but God help you if you rest a greasy hand on my model or spill soda on my cutting mat.
Drinks while gaming or painting/modeling, however, are an entirely different story. Being in the midst of the winter seasonal... season, I'm splitting my time between Dakka, a non-wargaming modeling project, and Sierra Nevada's Celebration Ale (2011 is not their best, by a long shot, but it's still quite good). Beer is the usual, since I've not restocked my liquor cabinet in quite some time. If I've got scotch, I'll have an Old Fashioned. If I've got gin, I'll have a Gin & Tonic (martinis wait until I no longer require manual dexterity).

Usually I have a few bottles of Yuengling or Blue Moon while painting. As far as food is concerned, I've never been much of a snack person. However when it comes to game nights, I decided to continue working at a pizza place for a few hours a week just for the free food and that decision pays for itself each and every time. Next time though, definitely nachos. With cheese, sour cream, chili, and jalapenos.
But in regards to soda preferences, I've found in my travels that Americans in the northern states love Pepsi, those in the southern states love Coke. I've always been a Coke guy.
