8 rokkits a trn amounts to average or 6 hits, of which only 1/3 glance and 2/3 pens on rear, 1/2 nothing, 1/6 glance, 1/3 pen on side armour. On front it is 2/3 nothing, 1/6 glance and 1/6 pen. Most likely he will be showing you his face, fleet up to you. Not to mention the Flying Gunshiop a la destruction that will drop him near you, allowing him to asault while wreaking havoc on its own.

1.Dark Eldar- Amount of Dakka they can bring to the table is distrubing.
2. Orks- BWs with constant cover saves is a pain.
3. Tau- In the hands of a skilled player this army does work.

Are orks really that competitive? I always thought all the new-tricks-aplenty necrons/DE would have them trumped every time.

Orks are just solid, probably moreso than the necrons/DE who require tricks and tactics. Orks can do shooty, vihicle, or horde, and do it well. They have weaknesses and are definately not AS competetive, but they are still a good solid codex.

Orks are a relativly simple codex to use, hence the most common advice given is always either More Boyz or More Lootas.
Orks epitomise the spam concept of having multiple units that do the same job so that if one is killed there will be others that can still do it.
The only thing that can really give a Greentide a run for its money is either a highly mobile army that can avoid cc while also thinning the crowd OR an army that can bring tons of blasts to where they can also thin out the horde. and neither is a hard counter to the Greentide because the Greentide can still catch you or enough will survive the bombardment to still wreck havoc in the parking lot.

As such, building upon what GT said, they best ways are IG, which have lots of blasts to go around. Even without blasts they would probably have enough shots to take down a fair number.
The second is Eldar/DE, being incredibly mobile. 12" move, then JSJ, Jetbikes, allong with the fact they can take down anything with a T, and pen any AV on a 5+ or better. More specifically to each army, eldar can get support from psykers, Mind Warring models to death while Fortuning, Guiding and Dooming away. Bladestorm Avengers, or Scorpians will decimate if used corectly.
DE can rely on morer CC potential. They will get caught out by Dredds and the like, as they don't have the same wargear like PF that other armies use, but Haywire Grenades...woah.
Stuff like Venom or Vyper spam. They will keep away from the slow Orks long enough to kill too many orks for the greeners to be effective at fighting back. Jetbikes all around, whether a fully mounted Seer Council supported by Guardian Jetbikes and Shining Spears, or a full fleet opf Reavers and Razorwings, will be equally effective.

Well i'm pleased to see how much attention this Post has gotten haha, I just want to know why so many people keep saying Necrons? Their sooo new i feel like its really soon to be saying theyre so great. And believe me i've seen some capable players use them. I'm not sayin theyre not good, just not impressive enough to draw this kind of attention....also sad face no love for the Tyranids after all..

That flying gunship the Lootas just shot down?
That's assuming you did shoot it down. Lets say it has extra armour, the one ting it should always have. Assuming 15 Lootas fired their average of 2 shots, that equates to 10 hits. Those are continued into 1.6666 glances and 1.666 pens. If you get a 1 then PoTMS comes in.
2 is reduced to 1 for EA, then PoTMS. 3 would probably remove the turret mounted AC. 4, because it is transporting, therefore not move flat out, would be bad, but the Dread could just deploy 2" out, fleet over and assault, all the while the full firepower of SR comes in.
So on the glance you have a
0% chance of destroying it.
0.27 chnace of immobilised
0.27 chance of WD
0% chance of stunned( EA)
1.1111 chance of Shaken.
On the pen it is a 0.27777 chnace of any result.
Assuming you got the first turn, that doesnot look good. If I get first turn I wn. 12" fly move, 2" disembarktion, average 4" fleet+ 6" assault=24" range of assault. If I deploy my full 12" forward then you would need to deploy across the enite back line, which just opens you up.

1) Dark Eldar
2)Orks
3)Necrons
Although the necrons have not been out long I do now think that they are alot stronger. But this is just based on battle reports I have seen as I have never played against DE and only 1 or 2 times against orks. I am also yet to play against the new Necrons.

Im shocked by the number of people that think nids are even in the ranking. Nids suck. i sold my nids due to the volume of suck in the codex. Limited builds, limited effectiveness and really poorly set up FOC. Just bad and bad.

2. Orks

2.Dark Eldar
3.Orks

"Khorne is a noble warrior who respects strength and bravery, who takes no joy in destroying the weak, and considers the helpless unworthy of his wrath. It is said that fate will spare any brave warrior who calls upon Khorne's name and pledges his soul to the blood god. It is also said that Khorne's daemons will hunt down and destroy any warrior who betrays his honour by killing a helpless innocent or murdering in cold blood..."
