I'm vegetarian, so sandwich's aren't very fun to be honest
Probably would say a mozzarella, tomato and basil panini is my favourite. Or a Subway veggie delight.

How is this done? I'd love to do it, it certainly adds a lot of character to the meat.

Damper with tonguewurst, lettuce, tomato and fresh jalapenos, add a dab of tabasco, and just a drizzle of ranch dressing. Yum.

(for those who don't know what tonguewurst is, it's essentially black pudding (blood pudding) with tongue in it)

Banana sandwich with no butter or tiger bread with butter on its own. Not really huge fan of sandwiches.

A hot Salt Beef sandwich with Gherkin and Horseradish.... Or a Rueben. They are both colossi (colossus'?) of the sandwich world, standing astride the other lesser sandwiches with a regal and godlike bearing...

Although a Cheese and CurlyWurly toasted sandwich runs them close!

there's a couple ways it depends on how much time you have. The BEST way is to corn your own beef, a flat cut brisket (London broil). After it's corned (or of you buy it at the store which I mostly do) you coat it in your own spice mix, I use pepper and coriander. If you have acess to or build a cold smoker you could use that, but I hot smoke mine at 225F using hickory for an hour per lbs or until the internal temp is 165. It can be time consuming(3 weeks to corn plus 7-13 hours to smoke) but epically worth it.

I'm really curious about what you said about a sandwich that had to be moderated.

When I'm at my parents' place, and can actually get the relevant meats, I usually make this:

Baguette, preferably nice and crusty.

Prosciutto di Parma

Parmigiano-Reggiano

Olive Oil infused with oregano and rosemary

Fresh Basil

Extremely salty, but delicious.

@Azza007, that's right bub, a Cheese and CurlyWurly Toasted sandwich.

Don't knock until you've tried it! (preferably in a drunken haze after coming back from the pub/mates house party.... )

I can't remember the name, its Chicken, ham, Mozzarella some kind of sauce and pressed between three pieces of toasted bread. Lovely.

it was a Sandwich of my own creation.

Best Sandwich EVER!
I will build it from the top down:

Top bun
2 Slices of Bacon
Onions
McRib meat
Top piece of chicken from a KFC Double Down
1 Slice of American Cheese
2 Slices of Bacon
KFC Double Down sauce
Bottom piece of chicken from a KFC Double Down
2 Slices of Bacon
Onions
McRib meat
Bottom bun

I call it the McDouble Rib Down! (Made from 2 McRib's and a Double Down)
I ate it, and it was GLORIOUS!

Probably will not even have one again though.

My current sandwich of choice is what I call the 'yankee breakfast sandwich' (to distinguish from more traditional british bacon sandwiches

Two slices of eggy bread (I think you americans call it french toast) for the confused or uninformed eggy bread is a slice of bread, dipped in beaten egg and then grilled/fried.

A large portion of streaky bacon grilled until its crispy

A sausage (think the ones in a McD's McMuffin, but better quality)

Combine into a sandwich, smother with maple syrup, pure breakfast bliss (although I will admit that it's more of a knife-and-fork sandwich, which kind of defeats the purpose).

Either that or a subway BMT with lettuce, bell peppers, jalapeƱos and BBQ sauce...

I also really want to try a 'french dip' sandwich, they were featured on Man vs Food a while back, it's essentially a meat sandwich where the bread is dipped in a gravy/ju of some description, looked the bomb...

Joey wrote:I have no idea how you can fit that all into one sandwich. It seems excessive.

You have no idea.

Anyway,
Sourdough bread;
Ham, turkey, and bacon;
Cheddar cheese;
Lettuce, spinach, and bean sprouts;
and lastly, mustard (preferably dijon).
That makes my favorite cold sandwich.

Hot:
Italian cheese bread;
Salami, peperoni, ham, and bacon;
Provolone and cheddar cheese;
Banana peppers and black olives (loads of 'em).
