They stopped using their own boxes? Didn't know that. But, the price per box really isn't too bad wholesale. In fact some larger clamshells I've seen are almost the same price. My main concern was more about shipping, since it will be big & bulky and overseas it'll get real pricey real quick, especially as a long term solution where I'd eventually need a lot of them.

I don't know for sure that Mantic have completely stopped using them but the last army I got from Mantic (Abyssal Dwarves) didn't come in boxes. It used to say on their website under the product 'supplied with Mantic case' or words to that effect and I saw a while ago when the Orcs were released that they didn't say this so it made me wonder.

I guess with the shipping it all depends. Presumably, if you are sending in bulk you can get a discount on shipping? Not really sure but I would speak with Emily from Brushfire as she uses the exact same boxes and they ship to the UK now (her user name here is Cyporiean)

What third parties (resellers, eBay, bitz makers like CHS, etc.) is going to be a crapshoot, period. I honestly liked the GW boxes with the plastic insert myself for squads of metal minis, and I like blisters all the way for individual buys, especially for 'centerpieces' like HQs and the cooler minions.

That being said, I have a rough time seeing a blister or the inserts as viable for the resin miniatures, they both allow too much travel in transit, which is what damages contents. From a buyer/business standpoint, I'd like to see something like what WizKids did with their clix miniatures in the past. Each minature was placed in little plastic holder in the box, all the holders were stadardized enough that you could place just about any combination of five or six miniaturesres in a box and prevent travel (hold them in place). The resin/plastic they used was a good deal more sturdy, but I believe that it could be adapted to other miniatures without a major hassle.

From a buyer/ lol i'm a nerd standpoint, my favorite packaging were the boxes that GW used for squads and vehicles around 40k 3rd. The ones that for vehicles were straight-up artwork with a big name at the top that looked like one of the better model boxes, and the ones for squads that were of a few models, but there was enough idiosyncracies like the aquila in a corner that it was fun to look at anyway.

I often buy minis direct from the (small-time) manufacturer and ziploc baggies don't bother me.

The less packaging the better, though - but the Infinity boxes are at least good for storage until you get a decent case for them.

I dont really care about packaging though Im always amused when I see the BattleForce box size compared with the contents if bought separately in their own boxes.

I've been away for awhile. Did you finish those guys you were working on?

If so, pm me the details, I want some.

Got a few of the cowpokes from Reaper that I've been finishing, and the scenery is a whole wopping 2 saloons, a sheriffs office, and a bunch of desert stuff.

My opinion for the packaging is for you to take a good look at plastic baggies, or little blisterpacks work for you. Put that litle logo on a small cardstock, and put it in the baggie/ blisterbox.

packaging just ends up in the bin, but what if that packaging would work for scenery, such as a small cardstock box with a wood plank feel, or board feel to it, so all youd have to do is cut it up, paste it on foamboard,a nd there you go, instant wooden planks.

Another idea would be to add in a little treat where the packaging adds up to portions of a building. two guys, you get a log cabin, or a traders shack, or fenceline. etc.etc.etc.

two boxes would have enough cardstock to make a corral, bank, cell, storefront, or what ever.

So,,, yeah. packaging with a dual purpose.

I ended up going with cheap clamshell packs that I think are the same ones Privateer Press uses, and a paper insert that I had custom printed. Overall, the whole thing added about 35 cents to the cost, and now it looks nice and professional Now it's ready for retail.. as soon as I find stores that wanna carry it

Judging from what I saw at Dakkacon, you use the same supplier we do for Blisters

and Yes, we our boxes are the same as Mantics (or at least what they used to use? have to talk with Ronnie about that..). When I bought the pallet of them from Mantic they shipped from their US base of operations for a fantastic price. (I just have to remove the fething Elves that no one wants from them...)

I got my clamshells from a company called Placon, they were the cheapest I could find. Tony from Defiance turned me on to them.

For the Mantic boxes though, Ronnie was telling me they came 66 per box, and empty with the foam inside.. no elves But he also said if I order 4 boxes, the shipping will be around $100 :( So I was hoping to find something similar in the US, but so far no luck. So maybe if I get the empty boxes they come from the UK, but if I want elves in my boxes I can get em from the US? I assumed everything came from the UK.

Odd, mine came in cartoons of 96. I ordered them empty with just the foam, but Ronnie sent me elf command boxes.
