Hi rockerbikie.
Compared to GW 'heroic' style with enlarged hands and heads, then Mantics 'true scale' minatures would look slender.
( I find it amusing that people that use GW 'cartoon style' 'heroic' minatures, can accuse a true scale minature of being out of a animated film/cartoon. )

Like I said asthetics ARE subjective...

Important to everyone , but everyone is entitled to thier own opinion.

As the game plays fine with just movement trays/bases, what ever minatures you PREFER to put on them to imporve the asthetics, is YOU OWN PERSONAL PREFERANCE.

My point was that you have to justify paying twice the amount of money for GW minatures, over Mantic ones JUST based on asthetics.
(Not to mention AoW do some great alternatives too.)

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

With the army deals you can get with mantic, it's actually closer to 2/3 discount with some cases.

To do with how the models look, I agree it is a little bit subjective. But I think for people who are only used to seeing GW models, seeing other models can seem a little bit strange even though they are more accurate in terms of the proportions of human anatomy.

Saw these comparison shots showing GW 40k miniatures compared to CB Infinity minis, it shows how crude the IC cadian models now look in particular.

To people who would still consider buying GW skellies/zombies in Australia though, when you could be buying the Mantic equivalents, I have to think it must be an incredibly strong like of the GW style considering the price disparity. Please, send me some of your money, rather than refilling that champagne bath or smoking those cuban cigars wrapped in $100 bills

Personally I don't see why you can't combine one Mantic produces some really nice basic bodies and GW always provides loads of detail bits using. GW detail bits to spice up Mantic Ghouls makes sense to me. (I'm using the Ghouls as Chaotic minions for my Beastmen/Warriors army).

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

I have to say that I like both ranges for different reasons.

I hate the GW Elves, but like the Mantic Elven Infantry, mainly because they don't look like the GW ones.

Like I said asthetics ARE subjective..

Which is true, how you paint, model, the models you use etc are a personal choice and should be so. That and unless you make it clear, or only play in GW stores/events does it matter what models you use for gaming? As long as you and your opponent know what each model is and is armed with, that should be all that matters.

Hello, although I'm a static Zero.
I'm fighting all your wars.

Warning: These miniatures contain lead and should not be chewed or swallowed.

These Miniatures may well be miscast...

Nuremberg

I'm (slowly) building a very cheap and almost all plastic undead army using mantic basic troops, which for me, at tabletop distance, look great. I accept that they don't look quite as good up close, but considering my quick painting style and preference for lots of painted stuff, I don't mind.

For centrepieces and characters, like my necromancers and wight kings and so on, I am using GW plastic characters. I might also shell out on a unit of the new plastic Black Knights. I think this is a pretty reasonable middle ground that will get me a nice army for a reasonable price. If I wanted to start O&G now I would mix Night Gobbos and boar boyz from GW with mantic orcs and save a pile of money. I also have a few of the Mantic Dwarves, but really, I am waiting for AoW to put out some more. Their plastics were reasonable and look awesome.
