This is how I feel about DMO really, I wish this version could be scrapped and it could be remade after GW2 shakes things up.

Ah, GW2. Have they yet announced a release date for that? Or a public beta or something? Alexzandvar wrote:Please keep the needless and the recolored popular hate to another thread.

No.
Really? WoW hate is the same as Ultramarine hate which is the same as Tau hate which is the same as Dragio hate.
It's all just bandwagoning. Not to mention when people whine about it they never seem to be able to come up with any solid reasons behind there hatred.
Again this is a DMO thread, not a thread to discuss WoW or other MMO's

^ I like that response lmao
Short sweet to the point
On to DMO: I'm unsure the interest really exists to justify a 40k MMO. Is 40k popular? Yes. Does it sell? Yes. Does it sell well enough to support a full MMO? I don't think so. Space Marine kind of showed the limitations of the 40k IP, mainly that while there are people who will pay for it, its not enough people to justify all out budgets. The same problem became very apparent with the fantasy MMO (though that's harder to judge cause of WoW's existence). I don't think the game, no matter how good, can be the financial success that THQ needs. THQ can't afford to release a game that costs as much as an MMO and have it flop. That's a huge hit that will really cost them. Especially now that they have to deal with splitting the mmo population with WoW, Rift, and TOR, all of which still have fairly stable populations that seem content where they are (not WoW, WoW just has a huge number of people and losing a million or two isn't going to end it).

People. we can all go on a 10 minute rant on our hated subject of choice and there a threads for that.
THIS IS NOT THAT KIND OF THREAD
This is to discuss THQ, DMO, and related Warhammer 40k games.
No to mention that DMO is an entire GENRE apart from WoW, so why was WoW brought up again...........

Epic win and awesome then. As far as DMO goes, do we really have anything to discuss at the moment anyway? Also, I'm nto bashing you for playing WoW. . I'm bashing WoW for being mediocre and bringing the whole industry's standards down. Blizzard can do better than taht . Well, I think they can anyway. But then again I quite enjoyed Diablo and the Warcraft series back in the day (before it became all about the "heroes". DoW2 did heroes better than blizzard ever will).

It's not mediocre, please provide any evidence to point towards it being so. The fact that the industry has not put a sold attempt to come up with something more original is none of Blizzards fault.
I think it's funny how game company's just throw out a game that has the EXACT formula as WoW and except it to surpass the industry giant.

That really means nothing, you could easily reskin wow to make it into a grimdark steam-punk game.
Also WoW is mediocre because it is the industry standard, it HAS to be average by definition.

In fairness there are some fairly legitimate complaints about WoW...
It's understandable why you would get annoyed but it isn't just mindless hate (Unlike most 40k hate which is fairly mindless)

I was bored playing it. Let me repeat that: I was BORED, Even freaking starcraft entertains me more than WoW, and you can't get any more generic and dull in the RTS genre than starcraft. I couldn't play it even for the full month of my trial period withotu straining and forcing myself to play it because friends wanted me to. I played DnDO, LotRO, Lineage 2, Guild Wars, City of Heroes/Villains, Champions, DCUO, and plenty of freebie MMOs not to mention older MMOs and pseudo-MMOs (such as Netstorm Islands At War) which ALL held my attention for longer than WoW managed to. The only MMO I would decisively say is worse than WoW is Rising Force Online, which is not an MMO as much as it is a Korean celebration of grindfest games.

11 million people can easily be wrong... At any rate WoW can be criticised quite heavily purely on the basis that they have effectively prevented other MMOs from becoming big. This kind of pseudo-monopoly means no one is willing to bank roll anything that doesn't adhere to the 'safe' MMO blue print which in turn stagnates the genre (genre of game rather than story). That alone gives WoW a bad look. Then you get to the point where it is fairly repetitive (Though that has become better) and the mild cases of addiction (Some estimates give WoW a higher addiction factor than cocaine, though I'm not sure how accurate that kind of thing is) Basically WoW, like any other game, can easily be legitimately criticised and in this case the criticism is very legitimate. People, as people always will be, are always going to be wearers of the mighty ass hat about somethings... If they start to annoy you toss a lolcat at them and carry on.

The gameplay was dull and uninspired, the graphics were ugly and uninspired, the music was completely forgettable and uninspired, and other things (adding "and uninspired" to the rest of them too probably), but honestly aside from simply saying "I was bored while playing it so I played something else" there's not much I can say, so I'm gonna go to the store instead.

I playe DnDO, LotRO, Lineage 2, Guild Wars, City of Heroes/Villains, Champions, DCUO, and plenty of freebie MMOs not to mention older MMOs and pseudo-MMOs (such as Netstorm Islands At War) which ALL held my attention for longer than WoW managed to.
The only MMO I would decisively say is worse than WoW is Rising Force Online.
Still not a reason, " Lol it's boring" is not a reason, and to be frank. You sound like some one did something to you in WoW to make you rage quit.
The fact that 11 million people can't be wrong is rather true.......you my friend are in the minority.
Then you get to the point where it is fairly repetitive (Though that has become better) and the mild cases of addiction (Some estimates give WoW a higher addiction factor than cocaine, though I'm not sure how accurate that kind of thing is)
Basically WoW, like any other game, can easily be legitimately criticised and in this case the criticism is very legitimate.
People, as people always will be, are always going to be wearers of the mighty ass hat about somethings...
If they start to annoy you toss a lolcat at them and carry on.
Indeed, I think I am being trolled. Thanks for giving a reason by the way Grand Cone Wizard of Azeroth .

I'm not trolling. The game honestly bores me, and I'm nto gonna stop saying that just cause someone else disagrees.... That would be poltically correct, and given my love of making horrendous yo momma jokes (And otehr jokse that I cannot say on the forum), I'm not that

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

Any game can be boring Alex mate, I have to come in on Mel's side here, even though I am a massive WoW fan. I don't expect everyone to like the games I like, hell I'm a huge Dynasty Warriors fan and fully accept I am in a small minority. *crickets* The only thing that bugs me is the queue of folks who for some reason feel the need to come screaming into any WoW thread and vocally flex off on how much better they are for not playing it. To be fair it wouldn't bother me so much if it was just the once or twice, but there are some who feel the need to do it to every single WoW thread. Like every morning they wake up and feel the need to rage off about WoW, when if I don;t like a game I generally ignore it and any threads that pop up about it. On topic, I want this game to come out, really do, but I am starting to fear it will go the way of the original Warhammer Online.

Yeah ... no. Unfortunately, Imperial Guard wouldn't be playable, which has lowered my interest for this game somewhat. The closest you could get would be playing the Assassin class, which is apparently supposed to start out as a somewhat "guardsman'esque character". http://gamingbolt.com/warhammer-40000-dark-millennium-online-info Looks like a giant wish list to me to be honest, mixed in with some of the very rare snippets I've seen mentioned from what I would consider official sources. I'm still waiting for some actual information from Vigil, if they get a chance to do so now that is. Hopefully if its not canned, we'll see something concrete at E3.

THQ are looking for partner for publication and the CEO has been quoted as saying "Because of the large financial commitment and associated risks, we are being realistic about our resources and we are actively seeking a partner for this compelling new MMO. We will keep you updated on our progress," Farrell told his investors. the full story is linked here http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/40077/THQ_can_no_longer_afford_to_bring_Dark_Millennium_MMO_to_market_by_itself.php

Aye certainly is Morathi, if they put most of that in I'll be happy : just hope it's not another GW MMO flop, Warhammer online cut me deep, just hope with Relic on board, somebody who understands the 40k lore and universe keeps it level and steady and THQ don't rush it out, that makes for sucky MMO's as Warhammer online proved.

And there goes any of my interest in this game. Why is there no love for the guard?
