It's a funny article, because just talking with my mother, who is glued to fox news, I can't talk about much of anything with her (disscussion like) because if fox news said something, she treats it as if god himself told her. It makes me sad, I've basically lost my mom.

Many people are right-wing simply by virtue of being too stupid to see why, for example, capital punishment does not reduce crime, nor does tougher sentencing, etc.
Economically I suppose it's harder to judge. People are likely to support whatever system would most benefit themselves anyway.

Trying to claim one side is smarter than the other is just points scoring nonsense. Even if it were true, the existance of a large number of stupid people believing the same thing you believe doesn't mean you're wrong. I mean, either the death penalty acts as an effective deterrent on crime or it does not, and whether a lot of stupid people agree with you or disagree with you on the issue doesn't change whether it is true or not.

It's basically the same thing as biccat's effort earlier in this thread to try and make the left wing as a whole somehow tied to Soviet Russia, as if believing in a higher minimum wage means you support gulags, or something. As above, either the job losses from the minimum wage are a greater impact on the poor than the increase in pay, or they are not. What some bad people in Russia did decades ago doesn't change that.

Just out of curiosity, why do you assume people who believe other than you are stupid? Is it because you're unable (I won't say you're unintelligent, you wrestle mountain lions in your spare time) to see their argument?

I well understand the left-wing argument for most issues. I just think they're wrong.

This article is stupid because we don't have a good way to measure intelligence yet. IQ tests are heavily flawed. When we do come up with a good way to measure intelligence I suspect that liberals will score slightly better, but until we do there's no way to know for sure.

It's not that we don't have a good way to measure IQ, as much as we've started to see there's really no such thing as one intelligence score. There's actually a whole lot of different kinds of intelligence, and they're mostly unrelated. That is, one person could be excellent at spacial intelligence and memory, while another person could have excellent communication skills and be able to understand social situations much more accurately. Combining all those types on intelligence into one test requires people to give each a weighting, basically a guess as to how important each is compared to the others. And that's a hopelessly subjective and largely useless exercise.
