It's time for another update, i've nearly finished the first daemonknight. I've got a few touch ups and highlights to do, some corrections and weathering effects to add, but this is a good flavour of things to come. i also thought i'd show off a few detail's.

love the worn armor (did you do that with a sponge?) toxic waste cans, and the glowing power cables. I think though that when you make those yellow/black chevrons and lines it's worth it to tape them or do something so they come out straight... it's one of those things that are really eye catching when those are done right.

I think that when doing these guys it's really eye catching when you have a lot of variation to your "power cables". It's sort of like when you draw you have a lot of variation to your lines. So far i've got a list: glowing power cables, copper (for exposed electric, vallejo air copper is great), Black and yellow stripes (eye catching and great for IW), Red and Blue, Glossy black, Dull gunmetal metal with a dark wash (better for bringing out those little ridges).

@meade; yeah they are in my touch you plans. i did consider other colours for the cables, but i'm generally sticking with this colour theme;

Before i post tonight update, i can check the following things of my list, by some crafty ebaying and securing a forge worldised iron warrior army i now have the following items coming my way;

I've also started work on the tripiest thing i've built in this log so far, it's got alot of work left on it (half its held together with white-tac) but this is the general idea of my daemonprince/greater daemon model; The Iron Daemon

I've finished building the double CC dread, this time i've opted for the codex lore option, the heavily modified and rebuilt, i've also build in a heavy flamer in to the new arm and rebuild some of the lost detail. The pose is also heavily modified to show some movement, but since i've added extra height this may have been lost. There's also some joint armour on the hips since i had the room to add it.





C&C welcomed, next update will be sunday/monday. There may be a raven guard update so keep an eye out for that log, it's down to my clients opinion on the test scheme.

Time for the first update in a few days, i've got the termies close to completion (waiting on a new termie base for the medic, and need to do a few touch ups);





I've also got some progress on the dread, it does need a few touch ups, i also want to ask peoples opinions on adding gore effects to the buzzsaw, at present he feels a bit plain on that arm;

So i've got my first match under 5th with chaos murhenz tonight, so here's my 1k points force;



Not much atm, half of its borrowed from other armies, since i'm waiting on the installment of the next lot, which should be coming my way in the next few days. I've had time to do the gore effects, start my DP (lot left to do) and do a quick patch job on the wrong directional hazard stripes;






Next post will either be an 'army so far' shot or some more wips, and i'll reveal the game results.

I love that drop pod! The weathering is just right on it. Also It might be the pictures but some of your OSL effects could pop out more, IMO. Especially on the dreadknight, it looks too monotone... could use a whiter 'center' to the glow and a darker edge. And making those really long cables glow is difficult because you need to paint a significant portion of the model pastel blue, meanwhile it's hard to get a contrast on such a long cable. I think a bit more turquoise couldn't hurt either, a bit of green makes it more complex and more like a flame.

And on your dread, it looks like the gore was 'dipped' on, I would try a sponge to put it on, to represent the blood spattering from a giant saw

The sheer amount of guys you've got done is very impressive too.

@meade; yeah the more i go on doing osl, the more i learn about making it look good. as for the dread, agreed, the blood is also too dark atm, so spalter red would do some good.

Since i'm about to disappear into the wizzarding world for 2 days (i'll explain when i get back) i thought i'd show off my 1500pt segment for use as space wolves. 20 termies (logan/warsmith needs an axe atm), 2 dreads and a pred. there will be 6 drop pods, but i only own 2 1/2 atm so i'll need to borrow some from my friends at my club for the match. The cyclones are magnetised, the multi-melta's too





One question to imperial players; Does the concept of chaos marines with cyclone launchers not make you want to excrete a brick?

Ok first up; charity news!

the wizarding weekend was a harry potter event on my island for a children charity, we held it over two days, using the islands steam trains, bus service and one of the oldest schools on the island (very medieval). It was a massive success, exact figures arn't clear, but we've had something in the region of 1100-1300 people over the two days.. on an island with 84,000 people living on it. that's a hell of turnout!

and now for a quick update, army wise i dropped the pred in favour of a stormshield per squad, magnets followed;




and build a logan-axe for my warsmith.

So its time to reveal my small summer project; With my iron warriors being a massive by slow moving project and my necromunda being on pause until i buy superglue i've decided to begin a touch earlier than i planned.

I'm going to be building two traitor guard armies (possibly for use with codex dark eldar in the near future), a 400k Combat patrol force and a 750 doubles tournie army.

400 pt list; (there's rules at presents about no weapon stronger than str7)
10 veterans, chimera, 3 grenade launchers
10 veterans, chimera, 3 grenade launchers
3 sentinals, autocannons

I'm going to be using Veer-myn from mantic to build a ratmen of nurgle guard army, though i haven't decided if i want to make them mutants or just xenos in the service of chaos. Since they aren't released till the end of may i won't be making many choices. I can however work on the tanks themselves, since they are bog standard imperial versions. thanks man! i must admit i had alot of fun building the wolves, and i'm glad he turned out so well.

Now for something i haven't done in a while... a second update in the same day. I've got a game tonight, so i decided to use the day to paint myself some rhinos. Here's a total of three and half hours work; ever since i did the VC's i don't seem to be able to paint slowly.





Now they need a few touch ups- well a quick knock back on the rust effects, but otherwise i'm pretty happy with them, they blend in with the predator a did a few weeks ago. Now to go kick the teeth of something thousand sons down their dust riddled necks.

New model time! A daemon prince, this time i've changed the glow effects to green. Sadly the lighting has neutured it a bit, but the group shot of 1st company progress and the 4th pic should give a better sense of it.






And yeah, the group shot of the 1 company (1 of the 3 that makes up a grand company). I've now got 35 of the 70 terminators i plan for this army, still plenty to crack on with

Some really nice stuff in here. And the paint scheme is growing on me. As the army assembles, it becomes more and more evocative. The intense weathering, the rust and metals, the icy-blue osl ... it definitely sets the mood.

Nice work on the "zombie" sentinels.

No-one said that you could make a decent dreadclaw pod from a smurf one, except me and now you. And making epic chaos stuff from the SoB penitent engine.

What if the guardsmen weren't muties or xenos? They could simply be lesser daemons.

Iron within, Iron without

So it has been rather a while since i did something hobby related that i finished.... so here's a model i've had sat on my desk and in my army for two-three months, this is with the count as multi-melta thingy cannon majiger.


I've stayed largely chaos free form this model, i might use him if i do a small 1500point pre-heresy force (codex SM/SW/BA/GK).

Now for an update. I've painted two more arms, the M.Melta is complete to the most part, but the plasmacannon still needs to weathered a little more and adjusted.

Today a new model arrived, since i haven't had much time to do any work, i've got 3 dreads to modify heavily to get them fit for combat (there's a FW chaplain who will become a chaos preacher, a AOBR dread who's the closest to finished, and a salvages world eater dread i'm rebuilding)



Thought i'd share these before i begin to rebuild and paint them, give people an idea of what i start with and what i go to.

I've now adjusted the poses on a few of them and started the conversion work (i'm wating on GS before i make any major leaps). I have however magnetised damn near every limb i could lay my hands upon, here's two shots with a few of those arms in use, note there's a bunch unused on the floor.
