The kobolds are to be had for $2.58 on miniature-giant.com. Thats less than $.45 per fig. Unit of 30 for $12.90...

I had a chance to fondle the models this weekend. I saw no loss of details on the models, but of course the age of sculpts are a little dated so that might be part of the problem people have. Also photographing all white is hard to do. The minis are directly paintable and do not require primer. The actual material is similar to the various clickiess, but is stronger and more rigid. However, long spears, etc. are a bit bendy, but less so than the clickies. The larger models are great. My personal faves are the purple worm and troll. I brought home both.

I already asked the local shop to order me one of each of the new bones miniatures as part of their next Reaper direct order.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better. |

Somehow I doubt it, but what the hell, I just ordered a bucketload of them and will do so again when more come out. I mean their sculpts are (at least for me) the best on the planet and all that for around 2 dollars a mini? It's like Christmas in March! I sure hope this is going to be a successfull experiment for them! The cost isn't particularly relevant to me if the quality is below the standard that I would consider usable. Reaper minis are incredibly hit or miss, some are great some are the worst in the industry. These are skewing pretty low in my opinion. The orc spearmen is pretty perfect for illustrating whats bad about reapers minis. Bland, static, uninteresting and the pose doesn't make any sense. It's like a model from an early 90s time capsule.

But wasn't that model sculpted in the 90's? Most of those are old-ass sculpts, I know that much.

Ahh, that explains it then. I guess I'll switch my criticism to "Why would they make new molds for an old model that's that bad?". How much of the reaper line is still a holdover from the bad old days?

Sounds like the gang over at Reaper is doing the smart play and TESTING the process before committing to a party foul.
If the resin is the same as the Storm Giant sculpt, I'll go on and say buy the hell out of them. That resin is good stuff. Not that rubbery GW garbage that is full of craptastic pour strips, or miscasts.
Good on ya Reaper!!!
Not going to commit to it till I see more then one or five sculpts that are solid, but on the whole, I haven't been peed on by Reaper very much, so I can give them the benefit of the doubt.

There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money. |

Simpler models are going to be the easiest to learn to cast. Also, cmon, look at the price! It's perfectly fine for filler units, and the big guys are okay.

I painted their Ice Giant king dude. He was mostly resin with

Uhh... Malf? Does that model have a... face? 'Cause I can't see it. I'm glad they didn't claim that they were a revolution in miniature gaming. That crown was already claimed by Finecost. Agamemnon2 wrote:Oh look, a heckler. Stole your thunder did he?

Face is in the middle, angled downwards. In that picture the ice blue chunk in the middle is the hair. The red and brass decorated bit in the hair is his crown and the grey bit just below that is the face
Have you painted the ice giant princess malfred? I'd be interested in seeing her with a similar colour scheme.

Did a bit of searching around the reaper forums. In adition to confirming that these are made in china, are made in the same plastic as the Legendary Encounters prepaints, here's what else reaper reps are saying.
Reaper says...
"We will eventually release everything that is in LE (Legendary encounters) into Bones, but there is a plan right now for a greater emphasis on Character figures/Painter figures for future Bones releases than LE had. That will include figures from WL/DHL that are not yet in LE, and new figures unique to Bones. "
"Next week we'll be previewing two brand new Bones polys. One by Werner Klocke, one by Bobby Jackson. Neither have seen the light of day in any Reaper product line before, so they are unique to Bones. And they're awesome"
I like the sound of what I'm hearing. No final word on Chronoscope in Bones, but they did say....
"Once the line is established, we will examine the feasibility of a Chronoscope Bones line, or whether a blended approach would be stronger. I do want to reassure you that Chronoscope has not been forgotten with this line. "
Interesting things are happening. The price is certainly right, and reaper has always put out a quality product, so I'm definitely looking forward to more .

No. But now that you mention it, I'm going to see if FLGS has it...
