Dark Secrets =/= Thousand Sons

The Blood Ravens could also....
*Have some mark of shame, such as cowardice in some ancient battle only they survived

*Be in possession of a relic precious to another Chapter... like, say, the left boot of Leman Russ.

*They know the Grey Knights exist and often call upon them for aid, and yet aren't mind-wiped for this knowledge. And, given the number of heretics running around in the Chapter, this is a secret the GK have killed far more people to keep.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

Spoiler:
A Khornate Sorcerer, somehow, beyond all logical reason but, hey, Chaos! works, I guess...

The WTF moment that is a Khornate sorceror aside, I fail to see how that precludes the Thousand Sons.... its not like loyalty to a particular Chaos God is related to a Chapters gene seed or anything.

No it didn't. The idea comes from Goto who isn't even referenced once in the DoW games. All the DoW games tell us is that the chapter has a bunch of rather nasty secrets which might or might not
be connected to their unknown primarch. A Thousand Sons did, with the exception of the Corvidae name, nothing to change that status.

Read it again, and try reading between the lines a little bit. Its far more than just the Corvidae name, try the "raven of blood" prophecy for one:

"The Ravens. I see them too. The lost sons and a Raven of blood. They cry out for salvation and knowledge, but it is denied!"

Also, there is a color match... >.>

And if you look at other fluff sources, such as "Age of Darkness" there is the story about the loyalist Thousand Sons who survived the destruction of their legion, with the leader of the group (also a Corvidae) says "Knowledge is Power" once he decides to search for the cause of the Thousand Sons fall and destroy it.

Gathering the Informations.

The prophecy is vague. Anyone can see anything they want from it.

The prophecy is also prior to the Betrayal at Isstvan--where oh my gosh--the Raven Guard were.

That Relic uses the "Knowledge is Power" line in DoW is not really indicative of anything, because that particular phrase is not unique to 40K. Because, as we all know, knowing is half the battle.

There's a ton of quotes and lines and "Thought For the Day"s that take well-known, real-life sayings and phrases and give them a Grimdark twist. These sorts of things are some of my most favorite aspects of 40K.

And, yeah, Chaos Gods are pretty greedy bastages at times. If the BR share geneseed with Tzeentch's personal chapter there, the Thousand Sons, then I can see him laying claim to the BR as his "by bonds of blood".

But as you said, they are greedy bastages. What would stop Khorne from corrupting one of them? Just because a God claims the souls of someone wouldn't mean that they would have exclusive rights, the Chaos powers rarely play nice with eachother after all. And once again, there is NOTHING that says that they would have to fall to Tzeentch and only Tzeentch.

As for knowledge is power, that is the official chapter motto according to Index Astartes, so... I would say its pretty damned indicative of something.

Gathering the Informations.

It's not.

It was a phrase commonly used during the Great Crusade/Reunification era.

Makes sense, since the whole Great Crusade was all about "enlightening" humanity and moving them towards Science rather than Sorcery.

I've not seen it uttered in any other horus heresy novel...

Fairly certain it was in "The First Heretic", "Horus Rising", and "False Gods".

Blood Ravens are very good at "acquiring" other chapters relics

Currently debating whether to study for my exams or paint some Deathwing
