right first off if you showing a new model allways prep it fully eg mold lines wash /paint job if people see it like this then there going to think that there fig will have half arsed quality controll.
2nd ..saying its true scale 30mm and thats why it dosnt have a face isnt goiing to wash especialy as im guessing its been digitly sculpted ? or have you just copyed the skin over from the game ?
even at that scale there shouldnt be any issues with sculpting a face {haveing bobble heads as you call it makes now difference at all } look at models that are the same style and size http://www.hfminis.co.uk/shop?category=miniatures~adventurers
or http://www.statuesqueminiatures.co.uk/ these have been physicly sculpted at that scale wheres if im corect and yours was done with a program there is even less of an excuse with the ability to zoom in ?
do you have the files for the print ? as this will show if the lack of a face is due to the sculpt or the casting ?
all in all i would of waited untill you had a sellable figure before releaseing this Abomination ....
even at £3 it is overly priced with what else is avalible for that price...

Having just done a side by side comparison with the Chell from the game, I think her head needs to be ~15% taller. Keep the forehead the same size or shrink it a little, give her more of a chin, and work from there.

Those models aren't in the same style at all.
If you scaled them up to real human size, you'd think they had some sort of gigantic head disease.

Here's a shot from my CAD package.

Evil & Chaos, I definitely agree with this comment:

Jburch wrote:I dont think its crap as you said, It is much better than I could sculpt, or better than the majority of the people giving you a hard time could do. I just think that you may have jumped the gun in releasing this for sale. Work on the issues with the face, get it right, and then you might have something people will have interest in.

The digital sculpt looks good, do you have a photo of the master used to make the mold (did you have it 3d printed?) and that might look much better than the actual molded model?

I don't agree with that at all. Putting something up for sale removes the whole "it's not as good as I/someone that doesn't like the model could do element". If you just want praise for your modelling skills post it as a personal project in the P&M boards. If you want people to buy your models you need to put more work in.

The original CAD looks good. I am sure that it will sell if you manage to capture it effectively in your molding.

Yes, but your last sentence (i.e. the point of it all) is the same as what I quoted from Jburch . So, I'm guessing you just think it's open to more criticism since it's for sale, but the thrust is the same- the CAD looks good, the cast doesn't, but with more work maybe people would want to buy it... as it is now, people probably won't, even at half the original price.

In the dark recesses of your mind...

I'll preface this by stating that I can't sculpt anything beyond basic blocks out of play-doh. With that being said, this model looks like a rough draft or work in progress. Even though the painted model looks a little better, it almost looks like she is wearing a mask over the top of her face, like the phantom of the opera or something. I think with a little bit of work, this could be a model that many people would consider buying.

I think you're deliberately missing my point ... i didn't say they were the same design style as yours i said they are the same scale ie..28-32mm and are not as heroic scale as others and are generaly considered some of the better female sculpts around ...and oh look they have faces ..!

Not going to lie, the face kills it for me. Even painted it looks like the face has no definition to it. Other wise this would of been a miniature I would of been all over.

The dimensions of the body are great. I think it needs more definition where the sides of the head meet the ears; the nose needs more defining and the eyes seem to lack definition. The general shape of the head is otherwise good as is the hair.
Perhaps try and cast this in another medium like resin to see if the problem lies with the mold itself or the casting material you are using too.

That sculpt is ok.

I've seen worse.

I would recommend that you sculpt the heads seperated from the body, either on a sprue, or with additionals, such as poney tails, or buns, or other head options.

Detracting from the conversation with tilly tally isn't going to do you justice. I was going to go on and put it to point, but you have to know, YOU are asking people to buy this. Engaging in each and every point of contention about that one isn't constructive, You just need to sculpt a few more.

Good potential, there, BTW.

I am not familiar with "Portal", so I can't say much other then - Thats a pretty good sculpt. Got some other weapon options? Chain gun, M60, or some other heavy weapon?

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.
