We're looking for support in the form of funding and beta testers on indiegogo:

indiegogo.com/realm-fantasy-warfare

The website of the game can also be found at:

Realm - Fantasy Warfare

where you can read the rules and see what we're about.

Hope this is not breaking the rules by posting our own news so to speak.

Cheers =)

i have just two questions

so you want to start doing miniatures and scale after you are backed.
am i missing something?

not to sound like a meanie but that seems counter intuitive. could you maybe explain your logic?

what makes your system different from any of the others that are out there?

Aka Why should i pour money into this? what kind of experience am i getting here, that i cant get anywhere else?

explain these and i think you will find much more willing to help. maybe a concept sketch of what it will look like?

just some thoughts

Hmmm...This game seems very derivative, and the fluff is painfully ill-written plus very sparse. And no greens?

o_O

Yeah, I don't think this is getting my support any time soon. Now, if the rules seemed original and exciting, and I could see some well-sculpted greens and good concept sketches, I JUST might be interested in lending a hand. But without all that, I am just not interested.

I like what I see so far, but so far it's nothing to make me want to buy.

Even though it's not kickstarter per se, or a board game, you should really go and listen to all of the "Funding the Dream" podcasts. You'll learn a LOT about running a successful campaign. But the short version:

1. Build your campaign around a specific product, not a company or idea
2. Offer the product or products as rewards for your backers
3. Come up with limited, special freebie items that you can give away to backers because all of us gamers all love that special "I got the last one and they're never making it ever again!!" feeling

So my suggestion would be to find some sculptors, get some greens made for one of your armies and concept art for the actual figures for other armies. The greens will show the quality of the miniatures you'll be offering and people that like them will feel good about supporting your game even without seeing the rest of the minis, especially with the other work you've already put into it.

Didn't they say they wernt looking to produce any models ?

This is starting to look even more dodgy..

The level of cynicism here is high and while I can understand it (mistrust is very understandable in this sort of situation) I would like to clear up some misconceptions.

No one said that there was never any intention to create miniatures. The plan is to produce them if there is enough interest in the rules and the setting and so on. There is little if any point in producing a product if no one wants to acquire it. It does cost a lot to sculpt and produce them and if no one wants to buy them why bother?

The Kickstarter campaign is to attempt to recoup investments already made by the team to produce what has already been done (including paying an artist and website costs and so on) and, once those are cleared work on more artwork and develop the rules and background. There is fiction planned (certainly as part of the upcoming scenarios which will be regular additions to the website) and other additions to the rules and background. It is also intended that the history of the world will progress from the point it is at present and one idea for that was to use the feedback from players who use the scenarios to decide 'what happens next' in our official history.

As for the subscription system and the idea of a physical book. One concept discussed in the early stages was to eliminate the need for a physical book. The idea was a rules set which were available online and readable on a portable tablet or similar. The rules are supposed to be a living document with regular updates and additions, all of which will be available on the website to all subscribers regardless of amount paid. In addition, you are free to download and print any and all content on the website and keep using it even after your subscription has expired. You would only need to renew your subscription to get access to any updates made since it ended. Updates will be made on a regular basis - at least monthly if not more frequent. It's working on the opportunities made available by the recent popularity of more portable computer media such as tablet PCs and Smart Phones and maybe it is a little ahead of the game for that but the time is coming when such media will be more common than they are now.

Yes, the higher donation levels do give a physical book as part of the package. However, this is more of a 'limited edition' with only as many of these being made as donors of that level. It is a nice little additional perk to donating more rather than something essential to running the game. The way the model is set to run, these books could well be obsolete by the end of a year anyway with a lot of new material added.

So, hopefully this has cleared up some misconceptions and given you all more of an insight into the intentions of this project.

Then whats the point of a physical rulebook as a high level supporter perk at all if its just going to be out dated in less then a month.

I highly suggest looking at other successful indiegogo or kick starter projects to see what they have done to make their project sucessful. Another bit of advice, and this is coming from me specifically as a person who has supported projects in the past. You need to give me one of two things to get my money. I either need to be involved in the game creation process, and I don't meen an invite to a beta , or you need to provide me with value, specifically something physical. If you can't provide any of that your not getting my money.

Both good points and I agree - physical things on offer is a good draw.

The purpose of the physical rule book at the higher end was the point mentioned earlier in this discussion about offering something unique and limited that will never be done again. I think several have misinterpreted that intention and for good reasons - seeing the physical rule book as the product and not the site content. I can see how this might have happened.

I was at one point considering the possibility of limited edition pin badges as perks for donors but didn't discuss it with the rest of the team because I instantly saw a logistical issue with transport for that.

Based on the feedback from here and other sources, there have been serious discussions regarding the possibility of a physical rule book that is not a limited ed. No idea yet if it will happen (not my decision ultimately) but if it does it will likely be a printing of the pdf files that are available on the website currently and will be updated as they are updated (which would not be as often as the website rules, maybe once a year or whenever really serious updates happen).

@aeretus
You have to think of other things other than offering Limited Edition stuff, especially when people don't even know whether it'll be worth anything at this stage.

Limited Edition stuff is great, unfortunatly in the long run most Limited Edition stuff isn't worth much more then whatever its printed on or made from. Its a fact that makes me kind of sad. Personally I have stacks and piles of limited edition prints, handouts and swag from gaming conventions over the years. Unfortunatly most of that stuff, even though it might be valuable to me has very little real world value.

To be completly and 100% honest I could care less about a fairly generaic fantasy ruleset regardless of how its presented. For the majority of your target audiance an Online Living Rulebook full of generic fantasy rules that requires a subscription isn't going to be popular. This isn't to say that the model can't work, you just need to do something else to make your product stand out. Your not going to do this by saying that we've invested X amount of time into our rules, and our time has Y amount of value now pay us for it. Once you pay us then we might get around to expanding on things.....

I'm sorry we didn't capture your interest =)

Thanks =)

He is not starting a flamewar. He is asking for logical answers, instead of poorly written ones.

I collect:

Grand alliance death (whole alliance)

Stormcast eternals

Slaves to Darkness - currently Nurgle but may expand to undivided.
