Having been encouraged to change up my bases I've spent the afternoon hammering some of the rocks/gravels in my garden down to more usable 40K sizes for use in bases. Then remedied the fact that for some reason I ordered the 20mm slot bases rather than closed.

Anyway these are the completed bases for my very much WIP veterans unit when their arms arrive from FW

I've finished painting my first cultist, I;m not overly thrilled with the positioning of the plasma gun on his hand as I'm -fairly- certain that gangasta shooting a plasma gun would make gets hot more likely >_>

The paint scheme for cultists is notably different fromt the zombies but keeping the same washed out fabrics in places to tie the army together. The photo quality is not amazing but I'm getting there slowly, and now have another 9 of these guys to do to get better on.

Those are some sweet zombies you have there. I love the crazy eyes. And would love to see a whole horde of the buggers.

Cheers guys, working on the horde is a work of love but is currently interspersed with making the cultists (vets) and ab-humans (beastmen) vets and painting them up. Zombies will be the mainstay of the army, making up normal infantry, heavy weapons and their own commands with an element in the CCS.

Mercs will make up vets and storms, ranging from abhuman beastmen to pirates/corsairs.

Cultists will feature heavily in command structure, vets, and tanks.

And then a variety of colourful creations will be interspersed (minatoars carrying lascannons, ghouls, etc)

Hadnt looked at those models in a long time, and when I did I was waaay to young to appreciate them

Nice to know my conversions look something like such classic miniatures. 6 More to go before I invest in some larger beasts for something more impressive. Really need to finish painting atleast 1 squad before hitting up the next one.

I havent really thought about my tanks yet, mostly because I have yet to ever fully paint a tank in the god only knows how many years I've been painting. One thing I had really wanted to fit into the army was a converted horse/cart with a shed load of cultists shooting out of it, but I can find nothing in the guard codex to count this as short of a full unit of rough riders (which would be questionable) or an extremely dodgy chimera.

I tested out 5 of the new paints today just to get a handle on how they'll effect my army:

Khorne Base,
Kislev Flesh
Reikland Fleshshade
Agrax Earthshade,
Bloodletter Glaze.

Onotop of my current paint stock, I think they meshed quite well though I will be sad to see my old colours run out.

Cultist number 2, and likely the scheme I will carry through all my cultists.

Cheers, I've finally bit the bullet and invested in some new brushes, so that cultist is the last one done with my old splayed out brushes (I hope, provided my order comes in soon). The new paints went on really well and took so many fewer layers than some of my old stuff.

Now that was a insaly well done RR, I realy like the feel of tyhis army as I mentioned in your WiP tread. Do you have any amoun of fluff for this warband?

Made in gb
Secret Inquisitorial Eldar Xenexecutor

UK

Fluff is as much a WIP as the army at this stage, and largely evolves based on what I wanted to model next, a brief (and incredibly brief at that) overview at the moment is incredible rough and still evolving, and in about 3rd version since starting.

Pavanis was a world on the galatic eastern rim far from the light of the emperor, sustained by supplies in return for its "enforcer" tithes to the imperial guard. The enforcers were example of the ideal of Pavanis, rule by force and fear, they wore deathly skull masks and spiked armour and largely fielded Arhos Gas weaponry. The cities of Pavanis suffered a vast caste divide, the rich living in the highly sterilised and technologically elite upper cities whilst the workers and slaces were forced to exist in the highly toxic atmosphere of the outer domes, technologically wasting away and filled with redundant tech.

The rule of Pavanis for centuries had fallen to the Pallen bloodline, genetically engineered for the utmost purity had crippled their immune system to the point of near total failure, this in turn had forced the sterilised upper hives and pursuit of purging any impurities in the populace. Death by lower dome was the punishment for any crime, the atmosphere would render most death within a few years, and those fortunate enough to survive were in constant agony and lacked any remaining resolve to fight back against the upper city. And yet on the turn of the century 858.M41 a rebellion started in the outer domes, the seed of religion had spread within the twisted populace, rumours of an all embracing god father who would undo the atrocities commited to them had stirred a withered and embittered populace into a frenzy of beaten weaponry and scrap armour.

In an attempt to squash this rebellion in its infancy the Pavanian Enforcers waged an atrocitious war on the lower domes, spending months at a time in its toxic atmosphere, destroying any and all traces of the opposition. But at every turn yet more withered civilians slowed their advance, yet more makeshift weapons etched away at their armour, what was to have been a swift rebuttle became a drawn out campaign with the enforcers numbers slowly depleting. Eager to replace his battered guard with stronger reinforcements the Pallen royalty accelerated the military cloning facility, it is not known at which stage the defect slipped into the enforcer code but it would not become apparent until millions had been deployed in the lower dome. What was once a genetically pure force was quickly ravaged by the decay that had eaten away at the lower populace, and the god of their false religion sought amusement by unleashing his decay across the once puritan legions. When the first wave of enforcers returned to the upper city they bore with them the plague of nurgle, within days the weakened immune system of those within had succumbed.

By 859.M41 what had once been a technologically and genetically ideal society slipped into a decayed and twisted empire, ruled by the once embittered underclass they sought out to expand their empire into the stars around them. In constant agony from their suffering but animated by nurgles graces there could be no respite for the populace, their twisted armarda was joined by those rogues and renegades they came across willing to fight for gold, pride or slaves. Those who had fallen from the emperors light found safe haven and a platform to seek their revenge.

Current makeup is:
Cultists/Renegades/Rough Riders - Pavanian Underclass, Mercenaries and Slaves (Counts as Veterans)
Beastmen Mercenaries - Abhumans, Rejects and Mercenaries (Counts as Veterans)
Zombie Guardsmen - Fallen PDF of Conquered worlds, now reainmated by Nurgle
Counts as Harker - See above
Primaris Psyker (to come) - Envoy of Nurgle, Seed of Decay, Sower of Disruption

Now upto 4 chaos cultists completed!

I'm also currently eyeing the skaven plague monks to convert into diseased human monks, though I need to get my hands on a sprue to see if the tail is easy enough to do away with.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Updated WIP Pictures, this is everyone who has managed to get painted and based thus far, an also a personal landmark on having painted more of this one army than any army I have done in the past, despite not even having a playable force completed yet! (Sad landmark)
