I think its bad ass...... ONLY if you make it out of rubber/platic/foam. why would you EVER need a working real chainsword?

Using melee weapons that splash around blood and gore during a major outbreak event. Don't worry, I'm sure you will be fine.

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."

"The argument is that we have to do this or we will, bit by bit,
lose everything that we hold dear, everything that keeps the business going. Our crops will wither, our children will die piteous
deaths and the sun will be swept from the sky."

Chainsaws are a bad weapon for a zombie apoc anyway, too loud attracts more zombies.

Building a chain-sword though? Thats awesome, please post a video if/when you finish

meh. as long as you wear your saftey goggles youll be fine. and the bonus to a working chainsword.... youll never have to think of a way to scare off those pesky door to door jehovahs witness assault teams.

thunder hammers would be tough... although i suppose a car battery and metal sledge hammer would be a good place to start... maybe wire in a tazer as well.

Well, I would get a small electric chainsaw, take it apart, and rebuild it from there.

I would build some safeguards that would prevent the chain from flying back and hitting your face. basically make it so the chain is only exposed in one direction like that video.

You probably want it to be battery operated(because no space marine runs around with an extension cord)

I just think it might end up being too heavy to use use one handed.

I've one handed a small electric chainsaw......it's unimpressive. It just kind of bounces off stuff and gets....well, dangerous. I'm only talking about small limbs on a tree here. A chainsaw works because you hold it down on whatever you are cutting. I imagine it would cut through soft tissue pretty easily though.

The fluff chainsword has (for a chainsaw) honking huge, biting teeth that, backed up by a hefty swing, take a chunk out of the target before the whirling blade o' doom part gets into the picture.

A regular chainsaw has none of these, and thus isn't very good at hacking through anything... you get the blade revved up and spinning, and then slowly, firmly, push it through whatever it is you're cutting. This is only one reason why a chainsaw is a terrible anti-zombie weapon, unless you're only killing one zombie at a time. Horde-killers, they ain't.

True enough, you would get better milage out of a sword. Although Chainsaws will cut through unarmored flesh without much issue, bone will present a problem.

Of course Chainswords are just regular CCWs in 40k so I think things are represented ok.

I know you're not going to take this advice, but please, don't do it. You'll end up killing yourself, killing someone else, get arrested, or UNLEASH ALL KINDS OF AWESOME.

Make a fake one. Just saying.

How about you build this thing outta PVC and foam rubber? Get a little whirly-gig electrical rotor in the hilt that pulls a length of, let's say, yarn around a spool that has the big, foam rubber teeth on it.

It'll look cool, like something made for a GWAR show, and not risk those and those around you with horrid lacerations, amputations and, possibly, death of the kind that people you don't even know will make jokes about you on YouTube.

You're set... assuming that you're not one of the first infected, and simply keel over from a bad cough, die, and then rise in your brain-eating, shambling, er, glory a few hours later to join the horde.

Many people plan for Zombie Apocalypse events... most of these people don't plan on actually being a zombie, though. This is where pop-culture has failed us, as a species. We can't all be Survivors. In fact, most of us (statistically speaking) will be Infected.

This actually makes Zombie Preparations doubly important. Not that most of us will get to use our canned foods and shotguns caches, but it does leave something for the survivors, after they bludgeon us to final death with claw hammers and machetes.

Pretty sure you'll have to get it off Faces of Death XXVII or something... maybe an episode of "Ow! My Balls!" or something.
