I have thought about doing this for while, but I'm too young to even operate a chainsaw without getting wild thoughts.
Put a cover on one side of the chainsaw (depends on the blade), but make sure it is high enough so that it does not get mangled by the teeth. Make it out of metal or something that the chainsaw is to weak to cut. Attach/weld a handle to the bottom and use the actual handle to control the speed of the chainblade.
Oh, look! Something underlined and bolded! You should look!
Or not. Most of you will ignore this and argue your pointless points of "You'll die" or "You're a troll."

Except said chainsaw manufacturer would look at him weirdly, then inform the cops, whereas said nerds understand such enthusiasm for fictional weapons, and will advice him.
Our advice, however, is that it's a bad idea. Don't. Even if it works, it'll get you in trouble.

thats half the reason to DOOOOOO ITTTTTTT
cociety these days is so paranoid about "accidents" all the inovation of life has left the world, and allowed the dumb to continue inbreeding.
i remember sh-stuff like lawn dart football, and riding shopping carts down hills. sledding off rooftops, and so on. you get an owee, learn not to do it again, and thus the strong and smart survive.
i say make the darn thing to the best of your ability, then clear the area and have at a wooden test dummy. video tape the whole thing with a live you tube feed.... and youll go viral for one reason or another.
as for zombie apocalypse, chainswords/saws would be pretty useless - they are slow, heavy, require heavy fuel, NOISY and require spending alot of time up close. plus the inevitable splatter and spray could get in your eyes/nose/mouth and infect you. the best anti zombi weapons are light, fast, quiet and capable of inflicting good damage to dense bone. a solid sword i would think is last resort. stick with a nice silenced assault rifle or if your gonna go loud, one of those fancy automatic combat shotguns. (AA12?)

I know it's already been said but it bears repeating... this is an extremely bad idea and you definitely shouldn't do it.
The first thing you're going to want to do with your new chain saw is play with it, and then it's off to the emergency room, prison, or the morgue, depending on the particulars play out.

why not all 3?.....thats what makes great reality TV. in fact..... i just got a great idea for the next "survivor" .... 12 guys in a dark room with chainsaws and no way out. last one standing wins a million bucks to spend at the prize counter. (the only place to buy the key out, wich costs 1.2 million)
mua ha ha ha ha!!!

Jayden63 wrote:A real chain saw is too heavy for most normal people to wield one handed. My advice is to make it electric using RC car motors and batteries and then just fabricate the outside to make it look fuel dependent. This will also keep the weight down and make it so that you can actually hold it. The "blade" just needs to run on a simple sprocket and flywheel design (much like bicycle chains). It doesn't need to be sharp to look cool. Screw that. If you're gonna do it, do it right, and if it is too heavy , get stronger! Real Chainswords are used by big tough guys! If you must be wimpy and consider weight a factor, Stihl make some 'occasional use' chainsaws that are pretty darned light (for a chainsaw): http://www.stihlusa.com/chainsaws/MS170.html is a good example. Of course you need to make sure what you get can push a chain around a long bar. The ROLLOMATIC® ES Super is available up to 59 inches! Heck Yeah! http://www.stihlusa.com/chainsaws/guidebars.html#duromatic http://www.stihlusa.com/chainsaws/MS880.html That bad boy can handle the 59" bar! You'll need to work on your biceps but that is a small price to pay to be properly armed (see what I did there?). I have a heavy duty Stihl with about a 20 inch bar. I am just a total wuss. Using it on a couple of trees kicks my butt. Trying to use it at anything higher than waist level ensures my shoulders and back ache for days. But You Young Stud! You can Do THIS!!!!! Please have someone with saftey goggles capture it on video for us.

If you had to ask for advice on how to make one on an internet forum devoted to plastic spacemen and wizards you don't have the mechanical skills successfully complete such a project.

if you are wanting to build something that can actually kill you and the first thing you do is ask how you can/should do it then you are destined to die young anyways
my suggestion is first make TDA so if/when you have a chainsword mishap then it won't kill you

I am positive that you lack the qualities to pull a project like this off.

Step 1: Suggest idea
Step 2: 98% of people tell you it's a horrible idea and you will die. With a 2% margin of error.
Step3: IGNORE all warnings and continue on regardless.
Step 4: Lose major motor function and/or ability to pee standing up.
Step 5: "I just don't know what went wrong!"

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."
"The argument is that we have to do this or we will, bit by bit,
lose everything that we hold dear, everything that keeps the business going. Our crops will wither, our children will die piteous
deaths and the sun will be swept from the sky."
