Welcome to the Internet! You may have noticed there is quite a bit of discussion on discussion boards. This isn't to be confused with fighting, arguing or bickering.

it's classed as argueing when the pair of you have said the same things repeatedly... It's like reading a dictation of a parrot.

Yep
I never said in my last post that the GK stormraven wasn't predating M41. I'm saying that the stormraven in the BA armory exists in only M41 (as far as we know). logically, in order for the Stormraven to be used by both forces, the time frame in question is M41.
The highlighted part is the part of your statement that I don't understand. Rephrase?
Ok.
The stormraven is in use by the GK lets say from M35+. the Stormraven is in use by the BA for only M41 as far as we know. Thus, we can extrapolate with a moderate degree of certainty, combined with the language in the Storm-Eagle's description, that the Storm-Eagle is an M41 vehicle, rather than a HH or Great Crusade vehicle.
...Which has been my whole point all along.

I can't say I was confused by anything you said, I thought it was clear enough.

Oh, I get what you are saying. I don't agree, the fluff just says 'clear similarities' not that one is based on the other.

Ok. but I'm not saying that either. I'm saying that because of the language they used in the comparison, (present tense) we can assume that the Storm-Eagle is M41 tech

Everything new seems to be some kind of discovery of an ancient powerful artifact. Obviously the Space marines have always been using some sort of space-to-ground transport shuttle, and they are sure to be armed, why can't the Storm Raven/Hawk just be one of those and not have all the goofy contradictory fluff??
Because they were never mentioned before. There are several groups of vehicles
1) Existing vehicles that there are models for
2) Existing vehicles that there are no models for
3) Non-existing vehicles that there are no models for
Group 1 is pretty big. Group 2 is pretty small. If you want to add new models for specific roles, you need to work in group 3.
Well, sure. But not everything new for the Imperials has to be "new-found lost technology/ STC data from before the Horus Heresy". It could just be a type of vehicle that hasn't been mentioned in the fluff before. As far as I know, the Valkyrie chassis is just a standard Imperial transport flyer, isn't it?

As far as I was aware, it only came about as an IA invention... before that, there was no mention of it at all IIRC. I'm just not a fan of convenience writing... at least make it convincing.

I used to think the stormraven was a sexy flying box, but after seeing this, with no turret on top, the Stormraven just looks ugly to me (as i'm sure everyone else already sees the SR) this Stormeagle is my new sexy flying box, I shall print out it's picture to hang by my painting station.

As I'm looking to buy or make a preheresy troop transport...

Thunderhawks were used pre-heresy (Models), as were Stormbirds (no models).
I think there's mention of a Stormhawk in one book but it may have been a typo.
.
At the start of Thousand Sons I believe, during the combined TS/ SW assault on those mountain-tops.
I guess there were a few variations of stuff in use before the Heresy, designs which were lost during the tumultuous times of the Heresy and since.

*sigh*
Yes. The Storm Eagle is real. It was not an April Fool's Day Joke, or whatever you might think. The rules for it are experimental rules at the moment, and most of the time they either tend towards the model being horribly, horribly, horribly over or underpriced.

The funny thing is that this craft fills no need in the Space Marine armory. The Thunderhawk carries heavier weaponry and more Marines. The Stormraven is a squad level transport with decent weaponry.
Why would the Marines commission a craft like this, if they already had Thunderhawks that could do the same thing, but better?
Of course, the answer is "to sell more models", lol. Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh, and because the Storm Raven is an absolutely hideous model, perhaps the ugliest vehicle ever released by Games Workshop.

Alternatively, it's because the Thunderhawk is pretty dang big and vulnerable to interceptors/anti-aircraft fire.
While the Stormraven/Stormeagles are certainly not small by any measure, they are noticeably smaller and likely could be used in roles that the Thunderhawks--which are venerated warmachines with a pedigree--might not be used in. It's like the reasons why the Astartes use Rhinos/Razorbacks as their "standard" vehicles when they have Land Raiders.
