I wonder if they use AA-12s' THATS what I'd take, hard to aim on a floating, moving surface firing at another floating moving surface, so just use an automatic shotgun!

The guys in those skiffs were a bit unusual. From what I've been told, they usually back off once they see that a ship is armed. The guys in the skiffs are not paid particularly well for what they do, so they are pretty risk averse. (I mean, apart from the risk inherent in floating around that far out to sea in a tiny laden skiff). The guys that trade the hostages and the guys that mastermind the operations get most of the money.
I don't blame the security team for killing them though- if the pirates had somehow managed to take the ship, all of the security team would have been killed.

How big a hole does one need to sink something less durable than my kids bath-toys?
Hard to sink something made of wood...
If Hollywood has taught us anything then it is that even wood can lose buoyancy. I cite the case of Kate Winslet and the big wooden door. The added weight of even one Leonardo Di'Caprio dangerously compromises the big wooden door as a life-preserving float. Now imagine that that big wooden door was being riddled with even comparatively light rifle fire, with the added weight of several Somalis, or a single Leonardo Di'Caprio.
My vote however, goes with the 2cm cannon.

Whatever your opinions on this, isn't this site supposed to be 'family friendly'? I'm pretty sure videos of people getting killed by rifle fire go against that.

Perhaps pirates wouldn't be such a big problem if all cargo ships had mercenaries private security guards.

You don't really see anything in the video. I was actually pretty disappointed. Apache Clips is better for stuff like that.

Were the pirates evidently armed? I didn't see any evidence of return fire from them.

The Kasrkin were just men. It made their actions all the more astonishing. Six white blurs, they fell upon the cultists, lasguns barking at close range. They wasted no shots. One shot, one kill. - Eisenhorn: Malleus |

Its difficult to fire from a boat like that, especially when its moving fast. Pirates shoot not to hit anything but to force a surrender, these sorts of pirates move to board as quickly as possible.
Besides under the circumstances evasion is the only smart move, the ship has a strong firing position with elevation, and it is pointless trying to cling onto the sides and threaten as they normally would.
Also who would win such a firefight, not the pirates, they have no cover and nothing but speed on their side.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.
It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. |

A good point there. All I heard was "Warning shots" but meh if pirates are on an intercept course for you're ship and have bad intention's in mind. All I can say is shoot until they sink and then shoot some more.
