This is a point I try to make often.
Most people see the foreign/exotic aspect of the
FW units as an easy scapegoat to blame if they have trouble with them. The fact that someone decided to pull out really smells like someone who was uncomfortable playing against something he just didn't know about... or simply just bought into the anti
FW bias. I remember, several years ago, someone who
refused to play on maps he didn't know - simply because he couldn't play competitively on them.
Took my Grot Tanks to a tournament, one guy (who won a game against me) and another (who lost a game against me) complained that they were
OP... but they had the same wargear options as my kanz, and were even weaker (av10). Not to mention Nearly 50% more expensive than a full squadron of kanz to compensate for the extra number of shots.
FW do, as has been stated, release test rules, hear feedback, and adjust - which is pretty great.
The Landraider Achilles, as an Ork player, will be dealt in the same way as usual - it's only that -1 that's going to be a big issue. Orks have no Melta nor Lance ;P
As a Dark Eldar player, the Achilles merely vindicates my fielding of Haywire Blasters.
I think the general issue is that people can't really call out a unit's viability until they've played with and/or against it several times.
